This is a modern song of him. Actually his songs are much darker. His fanbase was and still so devoted to him and actually caused harm to themselves and they are su*cidial. His concerts were always chaotic. I remember from my childhood, ppl would cut themselves with razors during the concerts. It is a bit scary bc he was a broken man and his fans are the people who are so depressed and lost in life. And for "arabesk" music it is "a musical genre that emerged in Turkey in the late 1960s, blending Arabic melodies with elements of Turkish folk music and Western instruments, and featuring intensely emotional themes. This genre often deals with pessimistic subjects such as hopeless love, despair, pain, poverty, fatalism, and failure. Arabesque was born particularly as a result of the socio-cultural changes brought about by rapid urbanization and migration from rural areas to cities, becoming the voice of those who migrated to urban areas in the 1970s and 1980s. In this respect, it is not only a musical genre but also a powerful cultural phenomenon reflecting Turkey's historical and social transformation process and influencing a broad segment of society." Also ppl who migrated to foreign countries to work, like my grandfather migrated to Switzerland, where I live now, were especially drawn to the melancholy and depression this genre brings because it reflected the alienation, the homesickness and being othered and seen as low class by the those countries' local people.
