I kinda ship Whitaker and Santos I’m curious if that’s the direction we’re taking or not.

I hope season two picks up on the next day and we see all the characters at home before going to work.

Thank you Melanie for the amazing pick and thank you Jessie for the amazing reactions to this show. Because without you both I would probably not have dived into The Pitt. I binged it in two days (with some pauses so it didn’t completely fry my brain) and I came out absolutely loving it. I’ll be honest. I was never a Noah Wyle fan. I actively disliked his ER character and that bias followed him into other projects for me. So when I saw people call this “ER 2.0” I was convinced I wouldn’t enjoy it. But I was wrong. Dr. Robby is, hands down, the best role I’ve seen him in. He’s layered, weary, imperfect but compelling, and feels like his own character with zero ER baggage. I’m hooked and can’t wait to see where they take him. The ensemble is where the show really shines. Dana was such a powerhouse—steady, iron-willed, compassionate. She reminded me of an old neighbor who had been a nurse/EMT. Samira was likable but not really ready for full ER pressure, which made her cryinng in the bathroom very believable and makes me curious what’s next for her. McKey had some of my favorite storylines—the family drama plus her work as a doctor really clicked. Mel was pure sunshine, always lighting up the screen. Santos… I know my girl is polarizing (or you know… messy, reckless, often rude) but I adored her instincts and her heart, especially when she basically adopted Whitaker at the end. And Whitaker turned out to be so much more than comic relief—I loved that he found Robby and that he quietly keeps his secret. Victoria I did a total 180 on—went from grating to one of my favorites by the finale. I really liked social worker Kiara. And the nurses (especially Perlah and Mateo) were quite memorable. I was expecting to dislike Gloria (as the face of soulless admin) but even she was great once the mass casualty hit. She really nails that middle-management spot where she would also often be stuck between a rock and a hard place of keeping department open and pandering to shareholders. Adding the night shift was great. Jack Abbot is my new fictional boyfriend pretty much. So much competency porn + emotionally mature (in therapy and not ashamed) + very hot. Yes please, can we have more of him in S2. I loved Walsh with her resting bitch face and the continued surgery vs. emergency department tension. Ellis showing up as an unexpected mentor to Santos was very fun. And Shen just being extremely chill in the face of disaster? I strive to have this level of calm in my life. Some great patients/family members too, especially the OD teen parents. What did not fully work for me? Collins’s performance never quite matched the tone of the rest of the cast, so her storyline didn’t hit me as hard as it should have. And while Langton was interesting and his rivalry with Santos funny (they were so similar, just some years of experience apart—same people, different font), and while I was understanding of his personal mess, the way he treated Robby near the end really soured me on him as a character. Strong acting, but the writing made me furious. All in all, The Pitt was way better than I expected. It is a true ensemble drama with depth, heart, and a Noah Wyle role that finally won me over. (I think I should go and re-watch ER now :D Just 15 seasons to tie me over until January xd) (also speaking of shipping. I have my own random ship. Abbot and Walsh. (I know half of the fandom ships Abbot with Robby while other half Abbot and Samira, I will be in my small corner vibing with my bickering tension night shift pick until season 2 bitterly destroys my delusions :D)
