Thank you for amazing reactions to S1 :) Season 1 still feels like a show that knew exactly what it was doing from the first scene. The pace is wild, the energy never dips, and the emotions still land instead of feeling like some dusty relic from the 90s. The big surprise on rewatch is how much the season leans on Carol. She was meant to die in the pilot, yet she ends up carrying half the emotional weight of the show. Tag… bless him, but the spark just isn’t there. Everyone knows it. Meanwhile the Doug and Carol pull is impossible to miss. His womanizing isn’t “bad boy charm,” it’s self-sabotage, especially when you put it next to how different he is around her. The season lets that tension sit without forcing anything. Susan really grew on me this time. Dry, capable, tired in a way that feels real. The Chloe mess is basically watching someone try to stay steady on shifting ground. Mark… what can you say. Good doctor, hopeless communicator. The show tried to make Jen the villain, because of course the lawyer wife had to be “the problem” in a 90s medical drama, but now it’s obvious he created most of the mess himself. Carter is still the rookie: earnest, overwhelmed, well-meaning. Not my personal favorite, but he adds a good texture to the chaos. Benton comes in strong and never lets up. The storyline with his mother still hits hard. It’s quiet and honest, and it explains far more about him than anything he actually says. Season 1 holds up ridiculously well. It’s messy, grounded, funny, and full of characters who feel like actual people. And yes, we will absolutely jump back into S2 in 2026. This ride is too good to quit.

Agreed with Sikozu. It's crazy how much this season focus on Carol. I like her but she's probably my least favourite of the mains. I personally didn't like how she treated Tag. She jerked him around, cheated on him multiple times and just used him as an emotional crutch (except for the moments where he wasn't willing to and when she ran to Doug). I really don't mind Carol but there's something that bothers me a lot about how she treated Tag (not in character). Mark made sacrifices a lot of them this time. He's commuting to Milwaukee to live with Jennifer. She didn't quit the lawyer position. Carter is the absolute best! By far my favourite charater. Benton and Susan are not far behind (poor Susan, I really hate Chloe and her parents).
