Somewhere in Time- Thank you very much for watching and reacting to this beautiful classic romance movie, Jessie! Thank you so much for your wonderful reaction!! I had so much fun watching this beautiful movie again with you, and I am happy you really enjoyed it too! I really love this movie! And it has been a long time since I've watched it, so I am so grateful to you for watching it for me, giving me the opportunity to enjoy it again with a dear friend. :) First in regards to what you thought was a mistake in the movie regarding the 1979 penny Richard pulls out his pocket and pulls him back to the present day... If you remember, this movie begins in 1972. Which is when Elise as an old woman comes to Richard to give him back his pocket watch and whispers for him to come back to her. Not long after this moment, there is actually an eight year time jump, which brings us to the present day, back when this movie was filmed, in 1980, Hence the reason why Richard had a 1979 penny in his pocket. You must have missed the moment the year showed on screen when the time jump happened. I think you might have looked away from the screen in that moment to look for the beautiful and adorable Dobbie. :) Richard had been thinking about his first encounter with Elise and obsessing over it for eight years, which is why he felt so strongly about going back in time to see her. In his time spent learning everything he could about Elise, he himself fell in love with her. So beautiful! I absolutely love Richard's and Elise's love story!! So beautiful!! They seem to fall in love pretty fast, but their love really feels so believable!! Maybe it's because of the acting being so phenomenal, or it really is just believable because their story is so beautifully written! Either way... I love seeing Richard and Elise together! And I love the time travel aspects within this story too! Even how Richard tragically dies of a broken heart in the end. It's so heartbreaking, but so beautiful at the same time. Because it shows they loved one another so deeply. And then seeing them come together again in Heaven... Phenomenal and so beautiful!!! I love it all!! :) Now... I absolutely love how beautiful this movie really is. From the beautiful love story, to how it's filmed, to the settings especially within and around the grounds of the Grand Hotel, the costumes, and the music! I absolutely love the beautiful and romantic love theme played throughout most of this movie... Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43, Variation XVIII Andante Cantabile, written by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Yes... I actually had to look up the name of this musical masterpiece so that I could write it out for you, Jessie. :) This love theme is famous because of this movie and most people can remember that it is written by Rachmaninoff. However, I doubt many people know the name of this music without needing to look it up! But it is absolutely beautiful!! And the costumes!!! So, so incredible and gorgeous too!! This movie... While it was filmed in 1980, it actually feels so much older to me. Which is wonderful! It feels like it was filmed back in the fifties, like other movies such as Some Like It Hot, Singin' in the Rain, White Christmas, etc... I just feel like I am watching another old classic time period piece... One of my all time favorite movie genres to watch! :) Both Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour are absolutely phenomenal actors!! I love them both very much! I grew up watching the original Superman movies with Christopher Reeve, as well as Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman with Jane Seymour. And I loved them both! I haven't seen Christopher Reeve in a whole lot outside of Somewhere in Time, the original Superman movies, and in a few episodes of Smallville, filmed shortly before he sadly died many years ago now. And for Jane Seymour, I have seen her in a many number of movies and shows along with Somewhere in Time and Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman. And she was also in a number of episodes of Smallville too! I remember being so horrified and heartbroken upon learning about Christopher Reeve's horse riding accident that caused him to tragically become paralyzed. I remember thinking... "This can't happen to him. He's Superman." Like so many people have said they thought too/ Because Christopher Reeve, even then, has always been regarded to be everyone's favorite Superman, even to this day. And he is. But he kept so positive throughout his life even after his accident, and he even continued acting. Which is so wonderful and absolutely incredible! What a wonderful human being Christopher Reeve was. He is sadly missed in the acting world. Rest in peace, dear Christopher Reeve. And as for Jane Seymour... I've always felt that she is one of the most beautiful women and actresses in all of Hollywood, even today. And she is. Jane Seymour is absolutely stunning! Especially here in Somewhere in Time. She's absolutely incredible as Elise, just as Christopher Reeve is incredible as Richard! I love them both so much! Not only in this movie, but in so much more too! An now... I had a vague memory of Christopher Plummer being in this movie too, but I didn't remember his character before watching it again with you. Adn while he plays the "villain" of this movie, he too did a fantastic acting job! Just as Christopher Plummer always has. I've loved Christopher Plummer ever since I first saw him in The Sound of Music so, so many years ago now, and I have loved him in so many movies over the years!! He too is sadly missed within the acting world. Rest in peace, dear Christopher Plummer. Overall... I absolutely love this movie! I love the romance, that is indeed perfect for Valentine's Day! So, thank you very much, not only for watching this movie for me, Jessie, but also for watching and posting it just in time for Valentine's Day! It was perfect to watch then! I spent the day on my own, but I still love watching romances on this day so that I too can celebrate it a little. I appreciate you, and all you do for me, my dear friend!! So, thank you truly, Jessie! :) Sincerely, Heidi
