Not just Ruby though, I also blame the senior doctors, who instilled this idea in Carter's head as well. Especially Dr Vucelich - who immediately after the surgery was asking everyone how to get rid of her as quickly as possible (and asked Carter to buff her up with drugs and release her, knowing that when she got back worse - once the meds wore off, she would bounce back but to another hospital). Both Vucelich and Benton could not give 2 shits about her and dumped everything related to her care on Carter.
