The Rainmaker- Thank you very much for your wonderful reaction to another of my favorite courtroom drams... The Rainmaker, Jessie!! I am so, so happy you loved this movie so much, just as I do too!! What a powerful and an emotional movie!! And what a cast!! :) A Few Good Men will always be my absolute favorite courtroom drama, but The Rainmaker comes in very close. I love the overall stories told throughout this movie and I love all of the characters, even the bad guys! I've never been too big a fan of Matt Damon. To me, he is just an okay actor, who is phenomenal in some of his movies and blah in others. Some in which he is just downright dislikable. But I love him here in The Rainmaker!! I very much enjoy his character, Rudy Baylor! And then we have Danny DeVito, who is delightful in all of his movies!! I especially love him in this movie, as Deck Shifflet!! I love that Deck is a lovable character who has failed to pass the bar six times, but that he is also still very smart and good at research!! He's a bit sleazy, because he is an ambulance chaser, but you can see that he is still a good man because he does care about his clients, and he becomes fast friends and a loyal ally to Rudy. And I love this about him!! We also have Claire Danes, Danny Glover, and Jon Voight in this movie as well, and I love all of them in many of their movies!! They're all brilliant actors! As for the three main storylines and cases that Rudy takes on throughout this movie... I love each of them!! I do feel that you could easily take out the storylines with Kelly and Miss. Birdie, and this movie would be just as good because it would allow more focus on the main case with Dot and Donny Ray Black. However, these other two cases don't bring this movie down in any way. They only add to it, which I certainly appreciate. Dot's case against the vile insurance company is heartbreaking, emotional, and so compelling!! I love everything about it!! And boy... Do I ever cry throughout most scenes between Rudy, Dot, Donny Ray, and his father. Every time!! Shame on this insurance company for swindling Dot and refusing to pay for her son's treatment that might have saved his life, and all so that they wouldn't have to pay out. And shame on Leo Drummond and all of the lawyers fighting on their side and for the vile things they do to try to win. Thank goodness Rudy and Dot succeed in taking them all down!! Kelly's story is sad and emotional as well. And just as real as the insurance fraud case too. Sadly, the most common, given that so many women are terrorized and beaten terribly by their husband's and boyfriends. Even vice versa, as some men are also beaten by their wives and girlfriends too. I am happy to see Rudy come to care for her because o his own background with father beating him and his mother. I do wish that this movie didn't have Rudy and Kelly fall in love, but I still care about their love story. And I am happy that Kelly's husband gets what he deserves. The Biridie's storyline is sweet and good too! I enjoy her character a lot, and I love how much she comes to care about Rudy and Kelly too! Overall... I really love this movie, and I am so happy you have come to love this movie too, Jessie!! Thank you so much for watching The Rainmaker for me, my dear friend!! :) Sincerely, Heidi

Jessie Dobbie Reactions

I really enjoyed this movie! It's not what thought it was going to be, but it was better. See all of these wonderful actors at the beginning of their careers was so much fun, and while the story didn't end 100% perfect, it was real and ended with the parents at least getting justice for their child. Great movie!
