So I will just say, a lot of you said about HIV ignorance was 80s history and Reagan policies. This aired in 1996 where the HIV/AIDS research was ongoing for few years now and HIV was transitioning to 'chronic disease' and there was a lot more of social awareness. I still agree that the show was very progressive for its time (again it has its faults when viewed by 2026 lens but it really did its best). When Jeanie talked with Benton she said they were basically mostly safe. So even with her being positive it would be probably a fairly small chance on him catching the virus. Al has already developed AIDS so he probably had virus for a long time. So Jeanie being HIV positive was very realistic outcome. Jeanie's story is very compelling. Cannot wait for you to watch how it all unfolds. Peter friend is a new character being introduced. So no worries your memory is not failing you on her. You got it Walt is Ving Rhames, it was a blip and you miss it role before mostly shot in dark apartment or hospital hallway. But that's the same actor. By 1996 he had done Pulp Fiction and Mission Impossible already. And yes the Gretchen actress was in QaF good eye. I do not think I would realize it without you pointing it out. It really is a time capsule show. This episode we have Kerry focusing on patient confidentiality. This is 4th July ep (and yeah i cannot help and laugh that we just had The Pitt July 4th season :D) and HIPPA would be signed in August of same year. But the act would take years of protocol changes etc to come into effect. So a lot of 'oh that's HIPPA violation' we need to kinda suspend for now, because it's not yet :D.

I love Jeanie's storyline as well. It will take you to interesting places. Can't wait for you to see them. I loved Carter's story here, and he's got these moments where I feel like he's getting ahead of himself and is brought down to earth. :) Also, Benton putting Carter in the ER shows trust in him (more than other interns).
