Man that last scene hits you when you realise that Nadine did have her bracelet with her. I am not sure you missed it, but Doug was definitely a bit put off by Nadine in the harsh light of day (to put it nicely) and was desperately trying to get her out the door. And then at the end I think he realised himself that if he hadn't rushed her out the door, she might have made it (because he would have known about her epilepsy).
