I think that was the point of what Guzman was trying to say- yes, his sister is dead because of how he and their family pushed her away. So he doesn't want Benjamin to do the same thing with Mencia. Mencia is seriously so naive. I get that she's young, and that she's mad at her dad- ok. But accepting gifts from the guy who gave you money before only when you slept with him? That's stupid. The sleeping in the same bed with your serious gf/bf is a little different in Europe though, at least in my circle of friends that wasn't a huge deal. With some parents! When you had strict parents that obviously was a problem, but others were fine with it (after making sure the kids in question knew about protection of course).

I was 18 and my father still wouldn't allow my bf to stay over, but I also think that had a lot to do with me being the "baby" in addition to the only girl in the family with 2 older brothers lol
