"She's so good at the politics." You really see that in the scenes with Cersei. The Queen Regent, the terrified, traumatised teenage princess-to-be and a bunch of civilians are stuck together during a crisis. The Queen immediately gives up, deciding that she's definitely going to die so she may as well be as drunk as possible by the time it happens, doesn't care at all about how telling Sansa that they're all doomed to die horribly might affect the morale of the room and vomits her bitterness all over Sansa. The terrified teenager actually works to calm everyone down and restore morale and, even though she's obviously terrified as well, she's careful not to openly panic or give in to defeatism. And Cersei, who is doing nothing to help and actively making the situation worse, spends the entire time acting like Sansa, who is actually doing something constructive and showing leadership skills, is a naive idiot for actually trying.

George RR Martin also wrote an episode in the first season. He was a lot more involved in the show in the beginning. I really love how the hound has a soft spot for sansa. And his fear over fire is full on a phobia at this point due to his face being burned off when he was young.

I was a massive Stannis fan-girl. Loved Tywin as well! My non-Stark favorites.

This is my favorite episode of the show. Tyrion has felt disrespected and despised his whole life, and he tries not to let it bother him but it does. To stand there surrounding by sincere chants of "Half-man!" was such a beautiful moment for him. And of course Tywin swoops in at the end with his signature move, which he also used in Robert's Rebellion: Wait till everyone else has worn themselves out then come in with your fresh army and take all the credit.
