So looking forward to this.

This fills the gap left by Lost because this started the year Lost finished. So it's a bit ironic really that you're watching it next.

The gore and violence increases as the show goes on, so buckle up 😂

I watched this long ago, but only the first 2 seasons or so. I don't remember much, but I do remember liking it.

Great reaction! If you like the "zombie apocalypse happening while the main character is in a coma" thing, you need to check out 28 Days Later, which did it first. It's also just generally a great movie, and the sequels are pretty good too.

One of the *many* spinoffs of this show, "Fear the Walking Dead" actually shows the beginning of the outbreak, although I'd avoid looking up anything about any of the spinoffs (including that one) as a lot of them could spoil some parts of the original show (e.g. characters either leaving or surviving the main show, etc.). Most of them are also set after the main show or start towards the end of the main show anyways, with only Fear the Walking Dead being somewhat meant to be watched alongside the original show (I stopped watching that one early on and didn't miss anything for the main show, so it's really not in any way required reading xD).

The "don't dead open inside" thing was actually a meme for a while :-D FYI it seems like the Netflix copy you're watching has quite a bit cut out. Nothing big, just a lot of the scenes were normally a bit longer. But it might just be for the pilot, it looks like they cut it down to a normal episode length because it was over an hour long.

If you can get the Blu-ray version of this, please do it. Streaming services often have the TV version which has some censorship and some scenes shortened. This version of the Pilot is the biggest outlier with around 20 minutes missing, some of the later episodes have 3-6 minutes missing. Sometimes it's just small cuts or alternate shorter takes, sometimes it's chunks of 2 minutes of dia-/monologue missing and sometimes it's just... annoying changes. Like you're watching "Walking Dead 4 Kidz!" because it was airing on AMC and they had to protect infants from the bad words. Please do yourself and everyone else a favor and get the Blu-ray version. If you can't get them all, at least get them starting from Season 4.

Weird that the US Army was using a Chieftan tank to stand it for an M1 (so AMC bought one from storage and shipped it to the states)
