Stargazer1682

This episode inspired one of my favorite memes I've made. How it started: Picture of Wesley when he first met Buffy in season 3, all prim and proper, offering her his hand "Nice to meet you." How it's going: The shot of crazy Wes behind his desk, "I shot you. I should apologize for that."

So, watching today's intro from Lexi raised even more *logical questions* about final season "Angel"--- of which, lord knows, there are many. :D So, characters like Lorne and Gunn--- really weren't in on the memory dump? I had always just assumed that they were--- although a little Wiki investigating tells me that (*emphasis* added): "An Orlon Window created a vessel which served as a window for the spell-caster to see the past as it once was... If the vessel was broken *near* any individual whose mind had been altered in any way, the memories that were altered or removed returned..." Oh. So I guess Gunn and Lorne were left out of it (given Lorne's feelings for Connor, not exactly a punishment). Wesley's debilitated state is not hard to understand, but it says something about the characters that Gunn--- who literally just got back from a season in hell of getting his guts ripped out--- seems less traumatized by comparison. (Far as logical questions go, if I even start asking myself how or if Illyria was affected, yeah, I'm gonna need some Excedrin. :D I'm still stuck on: Wesley apparently knew who Sahjhan was--- when memory-wiped...) Anyways, great episode (the MVP being Amy Acker), and for today's fun fact: Jaime Bergman--- the woman into demon pacts--- is Mrs. Boreanaz.

Ya, they had to nerf Illyria if she is going to "join the team". She was too strong. HOWEVER, now she has to let go of her former power. What will that do to her character when she still has some of Fred's memories ?🤔

I think Wesley is having a good old fashion nervous breakdown. He loses the love of his life just at the moment they were getting together, is continually faced the presence of the being who killed her, who looks like her; and in a moment of desperation to try to bring her back, all of the memories of his fall from grace, his throat being cut, his friends abandoning him, the hardships - a year and a half, maybe two years worth of memories - all flood back to him in an instant. To say he's shook would be an understatement.

I like that Illyria gets Gunn out of that holding dimension. It both gets him back, and shows that she really is very powerful. I wonder though, would the demon also have the fake family upstairs? I have to say Lorne in this episode felt like the writers didn't know what to do with him, but had to include him 'cause he's a regular. It added nothing IMO.

The way Spike and Illyria interact is one of my favorite things ever. Amy Ackers' acting in this was absolutely amazing. Her frantic progression, her long monologues, her sharp head tilts. I love Illyria. Poor Wesley is going through it and Angel is like "uh...this is unhealthy and I don't like it." and Wes is like "yeah. But I need it." and Angel is like "uh wait no that's the unhealthy part."

Fun fact: The pregnant woman in this episode is David Boreanaz's wife.

The pregnant lady is played by David Boreanaz actual wife!

When Angel asked Wes if the gun would kill Illyria, there was a slight pause before he said yes. Later we learn that he was lying. I believe that the pause was Wes deciding how he should answer Angel's question. By lying and getting Angel's consent to use the gun, he would be able to do what he actually intended, drawing Illyria's destructive power out of her.
