Hey guys and welcome to a new show! This pilot was quite insane. What have I gotten myself into? Hope you will enjoy the reaction! Can't wait to really sink my teeth into this show. I'm pretty hooked already!

Oh boy. And this show is so tame. How will you find a way to make sex jokes watching a show like this....? 😏

Hoo boy... this is going to be FUN!

A little insider tip...the map shown in the opening titles is helpful, showing the locations of some of the places in the show (plus the opening theme song kicks *ss!). And as the story progresses, the map will show new locations. (I mention it because I know sometimes people skip the titles. I had a friend who watched the show and it was like season four or something when I mentioned about the map and she had no idea. She was one of those "opening title skippers".)

Wow! I didn't realize you were going to be reacting to this show and a few days ago I decided to start watching it and watched the first episode. Sounds like your reaction was much the same as mine. I'm torn about how to watch the series now. I don't want spoilers, but want to see your reactions too. Maybe I'll watch the first season, then come back to your reactions later. This will be fun!

One thing you got a bit wrong...Jon Aryn, the one died and whose body we see in King's Landing, was not the king. He was the Hand of the King (the King's chief advisor). The King is Robert Baratheon and he travels north to ask his old friend Eddard ("Ned") Stark to be the new Hand of the King. Ned's wife is Catelyn ("Cat") and Jon Aryn's wife was Lysa who is Catelyn's older sister. Catelyn receives that note from her sister warning her that Jon was actually murdered and now the King has asked Ned to be the new Hand which would put him in danger.

I'm pretty pessimistic about spoilers to be honest - this was a huge show not that long ago, and for some reason people love to spoil it. I was even spoiled about some things, and I watched nearly all of it as it came out. I love the title sequence. Both the visuals and the music are absolutely perfect. The genealogy and family trees in this are quite complicated, but they're explained over time. And the politics are even more complex.

The pilot does throw out a lot of information/terms so if your not familiar with this world, it can get confusing. Just to clarify the hand of the king means like an advisor to the king ( sort of right hand man). It is definitely a powerful title to hold. So john aryan who was 'murdered' in the beginning was the hand, he was never the king. The current king ( robert baratheon) has served for a while now.

A bit more clarifying that might help ... The Targaryens, the blonde sister and brother on the other side of the narrow sea, doing the arranged marriage thing, are the surviving children of the King in "our" country over here, who King Robert Baratheon overthrew with help from, among many others, Ned Stark. And based on Robert mentioning not seeing Ned for 9 years, we can assume that this war and overthrow of the previous king happened several years ago, but not a super long time ago ... certainly within most people's memory. All of this I think is mentioned in this first episode, although it is very hard to get it all in one watch.

this is hype. was looking for a reactor to revisit this show with and ur my new fav after finding ur lost reactions. For all the issues it has, the first several seasons are great enough that the entire show is worth watching

Ok, I'm jumping in late on your reactions to GOT but I'll catch up. My favorite show and I'm sure you'll realize that your emotions will be on a rollercoaster ride for the entire series!!
