The CSM intro is just SO packed with references and jokes and character moments and lore...it's just perfectly done and has an amazing song too. Also - What do you all think the devil that Denji is fighting in the intro is? The big circle of flesh with chains? I've seen some theories on it, and some of them are gross, but I've not seen any confirmation of anything so far.

I really think you two would enjoy Frieren! All of those are great options. Vinland Saga is another favorite of mine and has some deep themes. I think those two shows have stories the two of you would really like.

Something I've never thought about but stood out to me in the graveyard scene this time: All the headstones are crosses. That feels out of place in Japan. Considering it's Fujimoto, that detail probably means something.

While Denji is the protagonist, Aki is kind of the hero of this story, I think. He’s the one who took a knife for Denji and was willing to use the Curse sword for him against Eternity Devil. He leapt into action doing exactly that later on. He still cries when his partners die.

While Denji is far from being a hero, I wouldn't consider Aki one either. He's made it clear that he's only protecting Denji because he's the only one who might have a chance at defeating the Gun Devil. Finding and killing Gun isn't a noble goal for Aki, it's purely for revenge. Though its likely he'll start to genuinely care for Denji (and Power) as the series goes on.

Haven’t seen Frieren so can’t say either way. Edgerunners and Vinland saga are both good and keep your darker show trend going. Vinland Saga is absolutely amazing, cannot recommend enough but both are good. I’d also throw out Kaguya Sama: love is war. It’s a turn away from the darker shows but it’s a hilarious rom com with a lot of heart, mind games, and an amazing dub

Blue eye samurai, it's the best show of 2023, give it a chance you will love it. It's on the same tier as Arcane and it has only 8 episodes, but it's renewed for a second season.

I’m hoping for Edgerunners too. I think having a shorter series running alongside MHA is nice for variety. Plus Edgerunners is just awesome.

Edgerunners is another short but super sweet show. It’s got a ton of character, action, heart, and heartbreak all packed into a complete, compact run. And it’s got amazing animation and a killer soundtrack.

I know this is late but to Montanas point about admiring something and still using them. Shadow weaver i feel is a good example of admiring someones power while also wanting to use them for their own means
