Ash

This movie always makes me cry ❤️ Would love to see yall react to a silent voice

juzism

I would love to see your reaction to A Silent Voice, it came out the same year as Your Name. Both are tied for my favourite anime movies

Mark O'Leary

When you asked if we were up for a movie night, I thought you were going to do a live stream, lol.

Gdawg88

You should watch Grave of the Fireflies

Rinsaka

Time for tears

dom

if you watch "Your Name" its mandatory that you watch "A Silent Voice" next and vice versa

Bryan

Omg IVE never watched this I’m excited. A silent voice or I want to eat your pancreas are 2 I heavily recommend

Katsuki BakuGOAT

So excited to watch this for the first time when I'm home!

Kit Pearson

When you watch The Lord of the Rings movies, make sure you watch the extended editions! They add a lot of context and information that's really helpful for following smaller details in the story

Jimmy

A SILENT VOICE!!!!

Renn.88

Even In terms of anime movies in general, this is top 5 easily at least in my opinion. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head is A Silent Voice, Akira, Grave Of The Fireflies and Spirited Away

StratosWave

Has anyone seen Hello World ?

Kyle Wilber

The tears staring 90 seconds into the reaction is the peak Your Name experience Picking the version without captions tho is a choice, those are important

Pugz

Oh no… I’m not ready 😭

H-Bomb 24

I should really watch this one; I've put it off long enough. Should I watch it here with you guys, or watch it on my own and then come back for this reaction?

H-Bomb 24

Any idea when this'll come to YouTube?

H-Bomb 24
>>150600429

Lucky. Most of these uploads hit me before I have to work, so I can't watch all of this one right now.

Bob Loblaw

Did the dub not translate the writing on her hand?

Jonathan Chavez

Wait ... Did this movie version not have the Translation of her hand?

smilingsophia

I totally recommend The Stranger By The Beach. It’s an amazing movie!!!

mastertater

Next is weathering with you it's mad by the same guy it's base after this

Dante
>>150603685

no it didnt, I think they thought it said his name when it says "I love you" which is why she says it wont help her remember

Pugz

In terms of movies to watch. Weathering with you, wolf children, a silent voice, ANY Miyazaki 😂

Letts React
>>150603685

I actually got Montanas reaction to this comment so I’ll post the video of that soon and include it in the YouTube version!

Francisco Yang

NOOOO the dub/crunchyroll sold, the writing on Mitsuha's hand was "I love you", not Taki's name. No subtitles sold

Visenna

You guys should totally check out A Silent Voice and Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms! Even if you don't react to Maquia its such a good movie 💜

Francisco Yang

Yall should watch I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, it's another anime movie and it's much more heartwarming.

Deiondre0

Sunday came early 🥳

Jonathan Chavez
>>150603685

Completely changed the story. Also keep in mind he wrote "I love you" I instead of his name because he is from the future, and he already knew she would die. So to him, it was useless to write his name vs writing his feelings so she would die knowing how he felt.

Sheldon Burnette

Not having the writing on the hand really takes away from the moment! So unfortunate it was missed because of bad subtitles.

Chelly

Whenever this movie gets watched people always recommend A Silent Voice after, and vice versa haha. They’re not related or anything tho. Personally I prefer A Silent Voice (fantastic dub as well) because of its emotional impact and narrative, but both are phenomenal.

ellie

fun fact! the creator confirmed they got married!! they show up a little in weathering with you which is another, less popular, but still fantastic, movie!

Lexi Browning

The biggest moment in the whole move and Crunchyroll screwed it up. How does a platform that considers itself the greatest hub for anime mess up one anime's greatest movies?

Hamad Panzer

Oh no they missunderstood the hand thing

Dainton Newell

It might have a strange name but you HAVE to watch "I want to eat your pancreas"

Renn.88

Yeah your best bet for anime movies especially ones like this is too just use a pirate website seriously. Most legal streaming platforms don't go out of the way to add subtitles for stuff like the journals and the sentence on Mitsuhas hand. Netflix has an especially terrible rep for that kinda stuff and crunchyroll is extremely inconsistent with it. Here for instance, when Mitsuha opens her hand, it's not Takis name. He wrote "I Love You" on her hand. Not his name. Thats a hugely significant moment cut because they were too lazy to add the subs. The High seas are always superior

Renn.88
>>150606967

5 centimeters per second is also a good one. Made by the same guy that made Your Name and Weathering with you

Chelly
>>150610027

I’ve been seeing nothing but bad things said about Crunchyroll lately 😂 when they removed the comment sections I knew I was completely done with them

Letts React
>>150610238

Don’t worry we get it now, but SO stupid about the subtitles only being on some things!? So wierd

Letts React
>>150610027

I’m honestly so mad they messed it up. I’ve seen the movie before and I didn’t know that because of Crunchyroll. Adds a whole new meaning! So dumb

Benjamin Miller

Gotta watch weathering with you. It's the same writer and director.

Pugz

WAIT !? NOOOO. THE HAND MOMENT 😭 DAM SUBTITLES WHY YOU GOTTA NOT DO YOUR JOB

Riley
>>150610238

That is so frustrating. The biggest emotional part of the whole movie sort of ruined because "we have to explain the comedy" because the text wasn't frikken there.

cyrus gudino

If y’all are doing another anime movie please check out A Silent Voice. If people talk about anime movies (that aren’t studio ghibli of course) then it’s always Your Name and A Silent Voice. I highly recommend it

GiovannaC

Next movie NEEDS to be A Silent Voice"!!!!! I really like them both, but A Silent Voice can touch you differently, perhaps because it is a story that is easier to associate with reality.

enrique chavez

Omg!! Please watch WOLF CHILDREN or A Silent Voice 😭😭 those two movies definitely made me cry!

Katsuki BakuGOAT

Oh and I know How to train your dragon isn't an anime movie, BUT you'd adore it. Dragons, vikings, cuteness overload, blacksmithing, epic score, epic action. It'd be a perfect reaction.

Neutral Nick

It’s gonna be whiplash going from this to JJK Thunderclap 1 and 2

Ryan W

NOOOOO not crunchy roll ruining the biggest moment of the reaction :(

Mally

The hand scene is like half the reason to watch someone's reaction to this movie, that's tragic.

Homestar

LOTR would be great to see!

John Erickson.

This reminds me a lot of Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl sempai.

SPARKLE

I'd love to see you react to more romance Movies (Weathering with you, a silent voice, I want to eat your Pancreas,..) !! (Also I'd love to see you watch "The boy and the beast".. it's one of my personal favorites and its UNDERRATED (IMO))

HamboneKablooey

If either of you haven't seen them, I'd love to see your reactions to some Studio Ghibli movies, especially Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, and Kiki's Delivery Service.

Daaylen Watson

Subtitles the reason I always go with sub for anime, Dub is just famous for having issues. Great movie, Gotta watch silent voice and I want to eat your Pancreas.

GreyScale
>>150599790

Grave of The Fireflies is SO GOOD! I'd love to see their reaction to that!!

GreyScale

If you're looking for more anime movies to react to, I wholeheartedly suggest "A Silent Voice", "In This Corner of The World", and "Grave of The Fireflies" (or actually any Studio Ghibli movie, really) All of these are prefect emotional works of art, and I'd LOVE to see your reactions to them!!

thevoidbender

A Silent Voice or Maquia: When the Promised Flower blooms are movies I think you guys would love. Same kind of sweet sad vibes.

Eric C

OMG KENNY WE NEED YOUR LOTR REACTIONS.

Anaya20

Btw what Taki wrote on Mitsuha's hand was "I Love You" not his name

Ian Sebastian

The no captions for the written stuff is killing me 😭 he wrote “I love you” on her hand at the end 😖 That’s why it “wouldn’t help her remember” Anyway this movie is beautiful Edit- it’s literally just dubs on Crunchyroll…the sub translates everything cause of course I’ve got no idea how you can fix this for future movies/shows but now you know 😭

SPARKLE
>>150625252

AGREED!! I haven't seen ANYONE react to it yet and it's making me REALLY REALLY SAD

Markub El Jaden

"A Silent Voice" reaction is very much needed, after Your Name its the most reacted-to anime movie and for good reason, I also think it would generate good dissucsions.

Eric C

god, the song that plays after the magic hour scene at the crater's edge still gets to me...

SeaLemons

Thanks for making me cry again! LOL

Corey _

A silent voice next please

Franklin Egantoff

Your Name is one of my favorite anime movies of all time. This was the second non fully shonen movie I ever watched. The first one was a silent voice and that still holds my #1 spot as favorite movie. Silent voice hit home in so many ways, i hope to see you react to that one day! But also lotr by far my favorite movie trilogy that gonna be a fun react too!

JStorm96

PLEASE WATCH I WANT TO EAT YOUR PANCREAS!!!!!

elle_pichouette

The way Kenny starts crying in like the first minute, because he knows what's about to happen :') feel it

Millie Long

I like the dub in general, but it's utterly criminal that what he wrote on her hand at the end isn't subtitled. I'm sure many other comments have said this, but it's supposed to read "I love you" when she looks at it, rather than his name as expected.

Jinchuriki87

Bro WHAT?!?! We NEED a lotr: extended version trilogy reaction, like yesterday!!!! Also, I'm still all for watching y'all do the "how to train your dragon" series if y'all haven't seen it already

Natsu_Graeme

Loved this! Gutted about the dub issue not having subs for the hand reveal in such a huge moment. Hoping for "A Silent Voice" at some point now 😁

Keyblade

Well yea, the hand thing was sadly missing. But anyway, I enjoyed this A LOT. I would love to see you two react on other Makoto Shinkai movies, especially Weathering with you and Suzume.

Letts React
>>150643901

Im so mad they didnt put the subtitles for that, truly such a pivotal moment! How did they not INCLUDE THE TRANSLATION!

Exzaivion

Watch "A silent voice" the reaction is needed after Your name 😢

Kit Pearson

A little thing that doesn't come across in the dub is that, in the scene where Mitsuha is in Taki's body on the roof with his friends, she's speaking with a country accent which is why the guys are staring at her funny. The girl, gal, guy joke tries to get the same point across, but it's a cultural joke you wouldn't know if you aren't a native speaker. (I'm not, I just got this info from someone who is)

MegumiMary

so to clear up any confusion about the fire: The fire destroyed records of their ritual and any explanation for why the body switching would be happening Their rituals are based on unions and the body swapping is a part of that ritual since it was done via the braided cord Mitsuha handed over

MegumiMary
>>150653424

oh as a dub watcher who knows a little japaneese I thought it was a refrence to Watashi/Ore because that honestly makes more sense in context

MegumiMary
>>150653424

Watashi is a more femine and formal way of saying I Ore is a more masculine way of saying I

MegumiMary

watch weathering with you right after this. Same director and there's a few details early on I think you will love after loving this movie so much

Kaliyana

What about the movie Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. I really like it.

Roy Meulblok

I would love to see you react to Redline. (note, there is a little nudity, just letting you know). One of the most gorgeously animated anime movies ever since its completely hand drawn. About Your Name: This movie has such a gorgeous story, the music, animation, voiceacting, its all amazing! This is the first time I actually seen it with English Dub. Both the Dub and Sub are amazing.

Dawson

Definitely recommend "Weathering With You" now that you've seen this film

Ferret
>>150691961

Seconding, it's the same director and is similarly gorgeous and heart-wrenching.

Ferret

The fake-out bittersweet ending is doubly cruel because the director was already fairly famous for three things: his gorgeous art style, his compelling romances, and the fact that *none* of his movies had a happy ending before this one. So everyone who knew his work was primed for sad.

Ferret

Re: A Silent Voice, they're brought up together usually because it came out a year after Your Name, and are both *peak* anime movies. A Silent Voice is my favorite of the two because its story resonates with me personally.

Wolfarick
>>150653424

It’s this and also a pronoun mix up. They tried to combine the two in a way. In Japanese, she goes through multiple first person pronouns until she finds the one that doesn’t confuse Taki’s friends (watashi -> watakushi -> boku -> ore). After that, then she speaks the next sentence in a country accent which they call her out for. The pronoun thing is a hard thing to translate/interpret to English in a way that makes sense because English only has one pronoun for “I” while Japanese has multiple. I do think dub is fine for most things, but sometimes think you might miss out the little nuisances and some minor things that do get translated in the sub

mel

Watch either a silent voice or Stranger by the Shore!

DYlan Pacheco

I know they're long and it's a commitment but please if yall do react to lord of the rings please do the extended cuts

RoxyMgreyray

and here is for more anime movies, love you guys

Tini loves-NOYA❤️ #remsubaru

I don’t know if react already but can you react A SILENT VOICE so emotion good message telling it’s also from a true story

Renn.88

Just watched it a 2nd time, you guys really need to watch Akira. It is what singlehandedly revolutionized anime itself and what introduced anime to a wide western audience. The 2001 dub specifically is what you need to watch but the movie itself is from the late 80s. It's one of the best movies of all time and is what led anime to being what it is today

Joe Duncan

Your reaction made my day

Joe Duncan

I need you guys to watch violet evergarden

dys
>>150711997

Unpopular take but I disagree, I wouldn't recommend the extended editions for a first viewing. The added stuff is great for diehard fans but hurts the pacing of the films, and for the most part the scenes that were cut from the theatrical versions were just scenes that weren't as well composed or were less vital.

dys

I do wish you guys watched the subtitled version. I like several of the English dub's voice actors in other stuff, but I don't think they had the time or as good direction as the original Japanese VAs so the performances just sound kinda stiff, and some of the Japanese idioms are not well translated compared to the subbed version which gives us the idiom in Japanese but explains it in English in a way that feels natural vs. translating it to a different English idiom that has adjacent meaning but loses a lot of nuance. I'm not a hardcore subbed over dubbed purist, I very much prefer the dubbed versions of animes like Princess Mononoke or Wolf's Rain, but the effort has to be there.

dys
>>150728501

Also it doesn't even translate the Japanese writing? You two seriously owe it to yourself to watch the official version that even bothers to translate the writing at all.

Steph Mesa
>>150725237

They would love Violet! same with Fruit Basket (the remake) a love how they analize complex characters and emotions

Team Outbreak Paintball

In the moment where she looked at her hand where he “wrote his name,” he actually wrote “I love you.” Just so you guys know

Team Outbreak Paintball

Also I highly recommend the film Oldboy if you guys haven’t seen it. It is a live action Korean film that is based on a manhwa, which is basically just a Korean manga, and it’s very good

Dennis

The climax and the most emotionally impactful scene in the movie and you guys didn’t have subtitles to understand the scene 😂

ShinobiSekiro9

I recommend A silent voice and I want to eat your pancreas.

NasOKM

Please a silent voice next or your lie in April as a series

Rem

I definitely recommend Wolf Children

yani

Please react to bubble directed by Tetsuro Araki, if you haven't seen it yet, it's beautiful

Moon Magic.Co

Pompo: The CinePhile is an excellent movie to watch next!

Rinnzu Rosendale
>>150728501

Subs are really bad for reactions in my opinion. The majority of people who are not used to subs just straight up cant watch. and even if you are used to subs, the text is even smaller in reaction windows. On top of that it also makes it impossible to watch if you are watching the reaction on the side. It just super limits your audience.

Day

It's wild to me that kenny has never seen LOTR 😭😭 I feel like he would have a BLAST with the soundtrack

MaSeshield9277

you guys HAVE to watch link click now after watching this.

Jose Olguin

definitely need to watch a silent voice!

OMi26

Watch The below anime movies list: Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. Weathering With You. Suzume. A Silent Voice. I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. A Whisker Away. Series+movie: Violet Evergarden Series and Movies

dannydarko27

Lord of the rings extended edition reaction?

Shiyokai

BTW Taki didnt wrote his name on her hand, he wrote "I love you" instead :) and if i remember correctly she planned to do the same, but couldnt on time! cuties

Shiyokai
>>150728501

Both have mentioned they struggled with subtitles + watching at the same time, which is the reason why they dont watch it like that, doubt they will change it now either

Starry Skies

Another really beautiful animated movie is Koe no Katachi (A silent voice). I really recommend it for you guys.

Matt Menacher

Love the reaction, but so sad you guys missed the hand reveal.

RN strke44

Pls watch "I want to eat your pancreas"
