I was pleasantly surprised by Iharu this episode. I ,too, thought he was gonna be another (early season) Bakugo, but he proved to be a REAL one right off the bat.

DarkenedBlade1

This is one of my favorite episodes (in season 1, there will hopefully be even better episodes in s2)

HBelmont67

I can't help but get Shigiraki vibes from Kaiju No. 9, with some Braniac from DC mixed in.

HBelmont67

Between the (first) Frieren OP and this one, I gotta side with Kenny and say I like this one more.

HBelmont67

Kenny compared Iharu to Kirishima when both were inspired by someone named Mina. 😅

Ragnarok

They serve diffrent purposes, you can't grade them on the same scale

StorytellerDave

The chorus of the Frieren intro is absolute peak.

HBelmont67

True, but you have to admit the style of music is pretty dissimilar to the show itself.

HBelmont67

Why not? Music is music and is objectively subjective.

HBelmont67

Man, Kafka's "DOWN DOWN DADADOWN! DOWN DADADOWN DOWN DOOOWN!!" never fails to hype me up! 🔥 😆😆

HBelmont67

Kaiju No. 9's nonchalance to his head getting knocked off is humorous, but also interesting from a character standpoint. I think Kenny's right; he does seem the scientist type.

HBelmont67

It's also a unique way to introduce the main villain, with him being genuinely threatened by Kafka and acknowledging as such. Usually, anime big bads start out as feeling above the main hero and grow over time to (albeit begrudgingly) respect the protagonist's strength. But Kafka's already SO strong from the jump that No. 9 can't help but acknowledge it.

If you like awesome intros. Seven Deadly Sins first two seasons have some of my favorite intros!

Ethan T

We would not be upset if you just watched episode 8 and posted it now…

David Garcia

When number 9 was shown in the restroom listening to the news report at the end of episode 4, right before he receives the phone call the report mentions number 8. That’s where number 9 first hears about number 8

allen

Can y’all watch squid game 👀👀 my life would be complete if they watched both seasons

StorytellerDave

It's very different to the music in the show itself, but it does capture a magical sort of vibe. Also, the chorus fits perfectly, that segment is just great. The full version is even better ( watch?v=OIBODIPC_8Y ). If you look at that music video it's also really neat, it's very well done. Yoasobi know what they're doing, their songs are always good. They did a song for Beastars a while back that's SUCH a bop. PS - If you look at the lyrics btw, they're freaking awesome too. They fit neatly into the theory that the entire story is just Frieren or someone else telling it thousands of years later as if it was a fairy tale.

HBelmont67

Montana's silent scream whenever she gets excited is so funny and endearing. 😄

Kraish

I wonder if Kafka is as strong as prime All Might

HBelmont67

I'd say he could hold his own with at least Injured All Might.

Mexican rice

He’s for sure stronger, especially currently.

Braden Jackson

He is much stronger than weakened All Might we haven’t seen enough IMO from either to know about prime all might and iron might might be able to win depending on how quickly Kafka can regenerate

Braden Jackson

I love how number 9 is both extremely analytical and knows nothing about humans makes me believe he recently gained that intelligence or that he is a very young kiju

David

Real

Jacob Schnoor

Why can't I see episodes 3 - 6 :(

Braden Jackson

That would be fire as well as being a really interesting live action for them to watch it would be cool to see montanas insight on it

allen

KENNY I KNOW UR READING THIS PLEASE WATCH IT SQUID GAME HAS CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER hehehehe 🧎‍➡️

Letts React

Check out the collection! they are all posted :)

Braden Jackson

Don’t worry you don’t have to beg if enough people are interested in seeing them react to it then they will put it in their voting poll

Braden Jackson

Yea I love how they show the team’s competitiveness it’s really realistic

Jinchuriki87

Yall went way too deep on the "how did he know about #8?" He literally just heard of him in the news as they talked about him in reports 🤣🤣

HBelmont67

This show's cast is just all around really likable.

Vextipher

Squid Games would be a great live series show to react to.

Braden Jackson

So true there hasn’t been a character on the team that is annoying with how they interact with the team loving it so far

Day

I really like this intro because it reminds me of the score from Pacific Rim at the beginning with the deep techno warning-like drums before the lyrics begin

Day

Oh wow triple question 😭 I feel so honored

Hidan

you are the honored one no?

Day

Damn, you're right, you got me there

Braden Jackson

Yea I loved pacific rim movies like that and Godzilla made my childhood
