Lyrical Kell of Music

This season been so action packed crazy to think we are nearing the end, if the studio can keep up this quality at this pace they set themselves up lookin real pretty for whatever anime they wanna do next.

KallaTheWatcher

JinWoo reminds me of Archer Emiya from the Fate Series every time he's aura farming on screen.

2026-09-19 15:00 I love how Kenny suggested that he could use a potion on the S-Rank Healer.. and put it into what mouth? The poor guy had his head bitten off XD

Anyone remember the 2006 animated movie The Ant Bully? That was Jinwoo this episode.

2026-09-19 15:00 When the Ant King evolved, and the vocals dropped, I knew this episode was gonna be an EXPERIENCE. I hadn't felt that Rengoku and Akaza's fight in the Mugen Train movie. 🔥🎶🔥🎶

So, the reason the Elixir of Life didn't work on Cha is because it covers illnesses and poisons, not physical damage.

Kristopher Sy

Last I checked he had a healing potion, not a revival one

Kristopher Sy

Even if he did use the Elixir of Life, it can't do anything to undo his age. The ice magic was new since the ant king didn't show it in the manhwa. But it makes sense he has it. And not the Ant King hitting the Frieza/Lesbian power pose

HBelmont67

I think Kenny's right that the Ant King is Zeke and Dabi.

Kristopher Sy

And same reason as the healing potions, she's too injured, the damage is too much for the potion to heal

2026-09-19 15:00 Seeing Tusk blast fire through a mountain was AWESOME. 💥 I would've liked if the anime had shown the reactions of those around the island.

What's crazy is that this episode is, like, the FOURTH time this anime has one-upped itself in this season ALONE.

2026-09-19 15:00 Also Mutilation isn't a new skill, it was an evolution of his "Fatal Strike" skill, it's just a more powerful way to attack then the previous one. It just levelled up during the fight when he needed it
2025-04-09 14:23

Gltchn

Why does every reactor think he had 3 elixir of life? He crafted 6 in the anime.

HBelmont67

Why did the question say it was "malice?" Jinwoo CLEARLY said "Mutilation."

Gwendolyn Vrisala

I'm not sure, but from what I took from the fight was that he didn't "get the skill upgrade", by the wording, I feel like he forced it himself, through sacrificing or combining other skills, because he called the upgrade, rather than being surprised. Maybe he also just had stored upgrades/points that he hadn't used yet, and like he's done before, only upgrades them at precise moments to gain the edge on people~

no u uwu

The English VA for the Black ant is the guy who voices Dabi in my hero

HBelmont67

When it was crafting in episode nine, the System said he got six.

Lyrical Kell of Music

I was thinking on it awhile, about why this series gave me a very faint sense of familiarity. Maybe it’s just the magic system and gaming themes but I think jinwoo is what the creators of SAO wanted Kirito to be. This usually calm collected badass, but for reason too long to really get into in a comment, jinwoo work as “one of the chosen few” badasses while kirito felt like he was supposed to be one by the writer but in universe he felt flat.

Teib _21

Finally reaction to the Big Fight :D, next episode is pretty cool. Mutilation was an upgraded version/ ulitmate version of his Fatel Strike skill that he upgraded mid fight, it's not really a passive skill that enjoy's fighting but rather an active skill that allows him to deal more damage and attack more. He can do this because Sung has been saving skill points (more like hoarding). Also a few things, the first thing Sung gave to Cha was a red potion that heals HP but not if your aura is too low while the second thing he got from the demon tower is more akin to an Elixir, so he deals in status affects like eternal sleep, hunter cha is dying which isn't a status affect but due to low HP so the Elixir wouldn't work. Lastly, Sung is immune to all toxins; remember, he couldn't get drunk. Can't wait for season Finale, love all your active shows rn :P.

HBelmont67

Has Kenny done any Solo Leveling art? Jinwoo and the Ant King staring each other down would make a GREAT sketch.

Teib _21

He was given 6 at the end of the tower.

Lyrical Kell of Music

Right…. Small spoiler below for the finale. I kinda wish episode 12 and 13 were one longer episode or dropped at the same time this ending and pace of ep 13 is a little weird imo, literally putting the 2 together, they flow very nicely. But if that’s the only critique a season has they have a massive win.

Teib _21

The best thing about this anime is that the first two seasons are literally just an introduction to the world and mostly focus on Sung; from now on, the serious world-building is coming.

HBelmont67

Also, the ones he gave the other S-Ranks were regular healing potions.

Sergio

The Japanese Chairman, spoke with Hunter Goto, and Goto confirmed that the Korean Team had a 0% chance of success. Their “updated plan” was to leave the Korean Team to their fate, THEN THEY would swoop in and take the credit for “Victory”, with “HEAVY HEARTS” lol.

Ramon Fax!

It's been world building, always has, though the anime has been cutting a good chunk of it out, but that sorta fine.

Sergio

Also, the upgraded skill “Mutilation” allows Sung to inflict “more serious (violent/deadly) damage, appearing to compound on itself, at an expedited rate”. It does not enhance, or provide, “enjoyment” of the action. More deadly, yes. More psychotic, no.

Mat Levesque

Totally unrelated but A1 also animated SAO lol

Ramon Fax!

Sister Leveling reaction, pls. I promise its funny

Cyan_Sky9135

It took literally ALL of my will power not to watch the next episode! But I'm sure the patience will pay off 🤞😩

StorytellerDave

I think I was oversold on this ep, I kept hearing how amazing the fight was and... well it's okay I guess. Very flashy, very pretty, but not very technique oriented. There wasn't a lot of strategy, just flurries of strikes. I feel like the power level is partly to blame for that. Weaker characters have to fight smart, strong ones can fight lazy. If you have a character that's this OP you kinda have to OPM route of threatening the other characters. Frieren is pretty good with that too. Or you can just finish fights instantly too. I don't mind OP characters 1 hit K.O.s. It makes power scaling more consistent. We don't really get a good grasp here of where Jinwoo is in terms of leveling up as episodes pass. Maybe if the ants tried to finish off the S ranks and he had to finish the fight before they died? Theb again, I haven't seen the finale, but I guess he will raise the S rank healer, so maybe even that would not have been that much more pressure.

HBelmont67

The music during the Ant King's transformation, and the rest of the fight, is probably the most Attack on Titan-sounding the series have ever gotten. 🔥🎶

HBelmont67

That is your own opinion . . . and I respect it.

HBelmont67

I was hoping the dub would be able to match the subs intensity, and that's EXACTLY what happened. 🔥

Robin B

And if I remember correctly, in the Manhwa, Jinwoo leveled up that skill by using it a lot on the ant king and was not "in danger" at that moment, so I don't think the system intentionally gave it to him at that time

StorytellerDave

Thanks, I know I am in the smallest of minorities on this type of stuff. I tend to be really picky about fights and battles, I really have to see intelligence in them to like them. It's probably bc I played too many strategy games.

HBelmont67

Some of these Patreon questions have been giving false information, and it's getting annoying.

GodsFury101

i thought when the camera rolled into Kargalgans boss chamber with all the high orcs it was VERY AOT sounding

Mat Levesque

Made by the same composer too

HBelmont67

You're not wrong, although I think some parts of that music were actually here in this episode!

Juan Solo

Funny considering how the Ant King used ice powers during the fight.

HBelmont67

I noticed that irony, too.

Juan Solo

The Ant King using ice powers during the fight, plus getting the Zeke treatment from Jinwoo... Whoever was in charge of casting the Ant King had to have known what they were doing. 😏

Juan Solo

I heard a rumor back when the season was airing that 12 and 13 were going to drop together. Not sure how that got started, since that wasn't the case.

HBelmont67

Anyone else notice this episode skipped the OP to give itself more screentime?

HBelmont67

I gotta ask: how did you like the first part of this fight, where it was just a sockfest? 🤜💥🤛 Imo, that was pretty easy to follow, all while perfectly demonstrating both fighters' strength and speed.

HBelmont67

Also, I think Kenny's right that that guy's VA is Gentle Criminal. ☕️

David L

I think that's a pretty reasonable take. It goes a pretty good job at being an 'SAO 2.0', in that OP protagonist power fantasy sense. Also, funnily enough, in the sense of spawning a whole wave of "We have Solo Leveling at home" style variants that SAO caused. Ironically, I'd argue that 'Shangri-la Frontier' is the other show that has don't the best SAO 2.0 impression, only in the sense of being about a person playing video games and actually leaning into that as a key concept rather than just a backdrop for the fantasy world. I say ironically because, as far as I've seen anyway, it has largely flown under the radar on account of debuting at the same time as Solo Leveling

Braden Jackson

Frieza/lesbian pose 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Jay Red

Jinwoo does have battle armor on as well it’s just invisible so he can show the drip 😂

James Collins

Non of the reactions I have seen so far have seemed to notice that the king ant ate the healer and gained his power so no one has predicted that he could just arise the ant king and make him heal her that’s what I’m thinking will happen anyways

Kristopher Sy

He is also Dracule "Hawkeye" Mihawk

Gavin Childs

That’s a great anime I think they also might enjoy one punch, fairy tail, and soul eater

Colton Piper

I am really enjoying the show. But I’m concerned this will turn into Dragonball. Aka Jinwoo becoming so OP that all other characters we have met so far will become irrelevant. I hope I’m wrong. But Jinwoo defeated the king with relative ease which means he is probably a SS hunter at this point which puts him way above every other hunter.

Colton Piper

I am kind of with you. I thought the fight versus the demon monarch was more interesting. Jinwoo never felt in trouble here. I’m concerned this is turning into OPM, but without the comedy. Jinwoo is already a SS hunter. He is so far above every other S rank we have seen at this point. And he is only going to get stronger because he’s the only one who can level up.

Braden Jackson

I was wondering if the ant king was gonna give his army a buff before they went to war myself

HBelmont67

I get your concern, but this was still NOT an easy fight for Jinwoo. He may not have been as physically stressed here as he was fighting Baran, but the Ant King was definitely the STRONGEST opponent Jinwoo's faced thus far.

StorytellerDave

I really hope Jinwoo is not going to be the only competent and useful person in this show. Honestly one of the things that bugged me the most in S1 was this idea that you cannot level up. Even if your strength stays the same, you can still learn techniques and strategies, it's pretty dumb that it is never brought up. You see scenes of S ranks working out, which is supposed to be entirely useless, but you never see them learning martial arts or reading books on monster behavior and dungeons or doing team building exercises or working on combo attacks with others or learning above the board strategy and warfare, all pf which would actually increase their effectiveness. Especially with how much it is borrowing from video games, as someone who did max level raids in world of Warcraft, there is a world of difference between a random team of 40 and a seasoned team of 40 who played together for years and studied every strategy under the Sun. I found it dumb asf that Jinwoo was looked down upon for being E rank, instead of being a well respected backline strategist, considering how many freaking dungeons he went into already by the time the show starts. There's so much missed opportunity with this show and it really frustrates me, it could be so much better with just a bit more work.

StorytellerDave

Yes Hbomb, the first part was really satisfying honestly. I wish they did more of that with legit boxing tricks being added over time. One of my favorite fight moments is All Might vs All For One, when he strikes with one arm a bit weaker, baiting AFO out and then hitting full strength with the other arm, that's a legit technique, a really good feint, I love that scene, and I think they could've done something similar with the boxing here, starting the same as they did, but making it more and more complex as they go at it.

StorytellerDave

Honestly I kinda was rooting for him to actually manage to run away.

L.C.

Wow I missed this one lol

L.C.

I like the voice acting dub pretty well overall for this series but I do not like the king ant voice and I hated the voice they had for the orc leader a few episodes ago. I like dubs sometimes but some of the choices they made for this season was terrible in my opinion. This specifically I would have wanted a much deeper and scarier voice for the king ant. It sounds like a soyboy putting a modifier around his voice to make it sound scary but it just doesn't work to me.

Jinchuriki87

I stand corrected, not the music I was remembering from the episode 🤣😅

Jinchuriki87

Is it just me...or is Japan's military about to put themselves on jinwoos shit list? Man is trying his best to save cha, and these s ranks are about to come try and "finish off" the koreans??? I think jinwoo is about to lose his shit when they show up

HBelmont67

Is it just me, or did the guy at the broadcasting studio sound like Spinner?

HBelmont67

The first part I get, but why is it called that? 😅 What other examples are there??

HBelmont67

I always forget that. 😅

Kristopher Sy

Amity in the Season 2 intro of The Owl House, Catra from She-Ra, and Pearl from Steven Universe. To name a few when I looked up the picture on Google, and some of the only characters whose names I know of

Kristopher Sy

The Ant King gave him a harder time than he did in the Manhwa

isky

Dub ant is better than sub ant if you want "deeper and scarier". sub ant sounded like an old man and not the cool kind haha

Señor Roberto

Joo are those the blades of chaos from god of war ?

Jinchuriki87

I can say i understand the sentiment Like sure, we get it...they're both insanely fast You could still show us more of what's going on, and just visually have the background moving slow (think sonic/quicksilver speedster scenes) Not to mention i was expecting more of a struggle (think cerberus fight in s1) I honestly didn't think about him "arise-ing" the healer...that would actually be nuts But it does seem worrisome that everyone else will/already have become irrelevant

StorytellerDave

Yeah, there's so many ways to male speedster fights interesting that is not CW Flash style streaks smashing into each other. Quicksilver was one, another is Makari from Eternals. The movie is not great, but Makari was 100% done well. Loved the way she would stop instantly and just have her wave go forward. Another thing they could have learnt from is actually the OG Daredevil hallway fight - Fights lose their stake if there is no visible lasting damage on either fighter. Daredevil freaking nails it when it comes to damage. It is legit one of the very few TV shows where you worry about the protagonist despite the show literally being named after him. You know he HAS to make it out alive, but I'll be damned if the show doesn't make me forget it during fight scenes.

StorytellerDave

Unless I was misunderstanding something, I think they meant finish off the ants. As in, the Koreans are already dead from the ants and they swoop in and claim credit for everything after mopping up just the remaining ants.

Jinchuriki87

You may be right, now that I watched again...but considering how the hope was that the Koreans would fall in the fight (or at least get cut down a good deal) something tells me that possibility isn't an impossible to imagine plan for them Guess we'll see

mffame

the orcs arent stronger than igris

mffame

yall never respect the villains story

David Murphy

Idk if anyone has already said this but, the ants were originally in a dungeon and a dungeon break occurred, and seeing as the system has a ctrl of other creatures from dungeons that would be how the system influenced or is in ctrl of the ant king.

Letts React

No one said they were, I said they’re stronger than the knights

HBelmont67

Ohhhhhh, I get it, now.

HBelmont67

I thought so, too. 😅

HBelmont67

Ooh, you can see Jinwoo's glowing eyes when he breaks through the ice at 22:00. 🥶 No wonder the ant ran away!

HBelmont67

I NEED to see the full image at 22:50, with the ants and shadows facing off. Put that in the background, and have Jinwoo and the Black Ant facing each other in blue and red in the forefront, and you've got a KILLER thumbnail! 🔥

HBelmont67

Beru certainly would've made for a good reoccurring antagonist, someone else who can level up along with Jinwoo. That being said, I feel like this encounter would've made Beru DEATHLY afraid of Jinwoo, making him go into hiding like Muzan with Yoriichi.

HBelmont67

If this kind of action isn't for you, then I feel like you would enjoy the way Netflix's Castlevania does fight scenes. They're SUPER fluid and energetic, but in a way where you can follow the fights if you're paying attention.

StorytellerDave

I liked Castlevania a lot, minus the ending. I haven't watched Nocturne yet tho. I watched Rise of the Shield Hero recently, that was kinda mixed. Some really good stuff, but also some very anime BS that I could do without, but it had decent action and smart fighters here and there. Then I watched the two episodes of To be Hero X and got blown away. It's a very promising new show with already insanely cool action, like top shelf action, better than I've seen in basically anything, the animation is next level. Think how detailed Frieren is with haor and clothing, they do that degree of detail with the stylistic choices of its fights. It does with its animation what Orb did with its writing - raise the bar to a completely new level.

HBelmont67

Just finished Castlevania and starting on Nocturne. First series has some of the best action and magic animation I've ever seen! So much so that it's criminal that this show ain't talked about more, Invincible could NEVER. Though, I am curious what you didn't like about the ending. As for To be Hero X, that one I've heard people talk about, but I don't know if Imma check it out.

StorytellerDave

I cannot recommend it enough. Watch the trailer on youtube, it will blow you away, it is just a minute and I am 100% convinced it will sell you on the show. I promise. Regarding Castlevania, the last villain and the final fight felt a bit forced to me. It needed more time in the oven imo. I don't wanna go into too much details here cuz you never know with spoilers.

HBelmont67

About Castlevania's ending: I agree that what you said was out of left field, but that wasn't truly the ending of the series. Imo, aside from the AMAZING animation and fight scenes, that series' other best quality is the characters. Castlevania lives and dies by its characters, and I feel like every major character was given a complete arc and closure, ESPECIALLY the main trio. Like, regardless of how we reached it, that final scene with them is just PERFECT. 😌

Sol

They will definitely not enjoy fairy tale. That show, while it is a good premise has an absolutely disgusting amount of fan service.

Aaron williams

Actually I think people give the system too much credit. The ants dungeon already broke like a year or two before Jin even went into the double dungeon because remember, this is the fourth raid on jaju island. There were three others that happened before he went into the double dungeon. So whatever has happened on that island is MOST likely not connected to the system at all

HBelmont67

Finished Castlevania's sequel series, Nocturne, and it's AMAZING. The animation and fights scenes are somehow even BETTER.

HBelmont67

Must like the mutached/goatee characters

StorytellerDave

That's high praise, I'll have to give it a watch later. I'm a bit swamped between To be hero X, The Last of Us, Apothecary Diaries and Andor and I still have to finish the last 6 episodes of Link Click.

Sam Guthrie

the way I understand his mutilation skill is, being able to overkill.

Suplee215

The japan subplot feels weird. Not bad, just wasnt what I was expecting. I think the show and source material is touching on real life tension and culture with it. In ww2 Japan did invade Korea. This feels very much like if theres a US movie and the Russian or German person turns out to have a shady backdoor plan.

Sol

The skill is literally just his fatal strike at max level, So It upgraded to mutilation. That's all it is

Razion

Alex Lee actually added in the scream when he chased down the black ant, it's not in the sub version if I remember correctly. also, they only had him try the potion I feel like because we as watchers would question it otherwise. he doest try it in the books, and I don't think the manwha either.
