Thorfinn screaming at the end is one of my fav voice acting moments, especially in the sub, chills every time

mal

I love that yall picked up on how strange askeladd is as a character immediately

bibih ayman

When is next episode coming !!!!

defnotdai

There’s a lot of nuance to askeladd. Best character imo

Craig Burnette

I’m so happy you are both reacting to this anime I’ve been waiting for a minute for both of you to get to this one

HBelmont67

Just a friendly reminder that the Mugen Train movie is in theaters again today! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Askeladd dishonoring his word when he swears by his father Olaf vs honoring his word when he swears by his ancestor Artorious.

Holycrow16

Y'all should watch madoka magica

Juan Solo

Plus, when Askeladd swore by his father he said it jokingly, whereas he was completely serious when he swore by his ancestor.

Thors was such a beast that even when turned into a pincushion he scared Bjorn into releasing Thorfinn (not to mention he died standing).

I think I was a bit too young when I started this show on my own. I stopped watching this show a couple episodes after this one because I really hated the way Thors died. Decided to give it another chance w/ you guys and HOLY COW this feels like a different show then the one I watched on my own. I think I can just resonate more with the message Thors is trying to leave with Thorfinn and also Thorfinns inability to full grasp what his father is saying. Really looking forward to the rest of the show now.

Bro went out on his feet like toji.

WATCHING this once a week is so hard!! Cant wait for the next episode

Aj -

bro definitely watched this before lmao

CharlieDaisy

The end of this episode is one of those performances that's really worth giving the japanese VA a listen. Shizuka Ishigami is goated.

Lettuce Pray

just realized kenny was wearing a regular show shirt lol, love that show

HBelmont67

People call him "evil Iroh"

Timothy Heck

At 20:54, f-bombs in anime hit different lol

Im so glad you are reacting to this. This show moved me so much - I named my cat after Thorfinn 😭 It's weird hearing his name now since I associate it with my cat!

Personally, I gotta say, I was not a fan of this episode. It had the same problems I had when I first tried to watch the show and then gave up in ep1. There is a dissonance that just bothers me. I dont mind overpowered characters in anime or tv shows in general, where there is magic or a power system or if it is some alternate universe, but this is Earth. This is meant to be history, this appears to want to be a more grounded and semi-realistic show, but every fight Thors has just gives me whiplash. I hope he is the only magic superman of the show and we are headed to something more chill, or we just give up on this being history and go full anime, but I dont think the show will commit to either path. I have a feeling it will fall between two horses and it would be a shame cuz I really wanna like it. It has a really interesting premise. I will stick with it either way and just hope it gets better for me. Maybe I should try to view it like I did 300, it is all just an exagerated retelling that got warped with time. Like the Goliath story from the Bible where you can trace Goliath becoming bigger with each translation of the Bible throughout history. The older the version the shorter he is.

mal

you’re putting way too much thought into this. yes this is a semi realistic show and historic but it’s still an anime(fiction) so it’s going to have exaggerated or unrealistic aspects to it lmao. the “magic superman” thing isn’t getting old anytime soon either lmao

StorytellerDave

Well, the closest anime I saw was Orb, which is historical fiction and that has few fight scenes but they're all pretty realistic and grounded and hella fun and well made.

Adel

Ah yes Askelad was serious about his proposition to Thors
