Braden Jackson

This truly is one of the best anime’s I’ve watched can’t wait for season two

Bruh

Apothecary Diaries would be so goated as the next show

Victor Velazco

His wife’s grave! He mentioned his wife passed away a few episodes ago. 🥲

StorytellerDave

I will never get tired of seeing Lands home office reveal lol. Bro was taking the exam remotely XD

Suplee215

I love all the characters in this arc. I thought I was going to hate a lot of these characters but even the ones totally against Frieren's philosphy have good points and are interesting. Denke is that old guy who grew up poor but got rich and has no problem throwing money around because he got it to help others or just make them happy. I thibk the major difference between Serie and Frieren is shown when she asks the soldier mage what his favorite spell is. To Serie, magic is a tool. To Frieren its a wonder of the world and the more frivolous the better.

Guadalupe Leon

You've now have seen both the number 1 and 2 anime. Friend #1 and FMAB #2

Franina

I don’t think the whole serie and fern thing was confusing at all. She just takes what she thinks to be strong apprentices. None of them ever live up to her standards and it upsets her. But the cycle always continues because she never stops taking apprentices even though she flaunts like she will stop. Frieren knew fern was gonna be amazing enough to meet her standards and knew serie was gonna ask her to be her apprentice. That’s all.

Limini

handwashing things is such a pain and handwashing things on the road is even worse. I have a washing machine and its still a pain in the ass

StorytellerDave

You know it is so funny, that even the Frieren ban is actually a lot deeper and kind of a backhanded compliment of sorts? By banning her for 1000 years from all Continental Magic Assosciation buildings, Serie basically made sure that Frieren would be remembered for the next thousand years.

Jay

I think the show tells us that Lehren “could” in fact defeat Frieren. It’s not guaranteed but it’s not impossible. Frieren herself said Serie is always right, and Serie said Lehren could beat Frieren.

Nataku

It is interesting to think about, the spell Fern picked is perfect. While you might be tempted to choose a spell unlike any other, maybe some amazing combat spell. But the simplest thing would have the biggest impact, a spell that you would cast every day, especially when you are on the road. For us, while space flight is a massive breakthrough, simple heating and cooling in our houses, lights, washer and dryer... so many magics of yesteryear are commonplace. Just like Zoltraak.

Suplee215

I think its fair to say that Frieren has trouble with the softer things too. Not as much as Loren but I think her argument with Fern last episode is a perfect example. Shes just aware of it and making an effort to get better.

Limini

I think serie just calls them failures to deal with her grief. She obvi remembers them fondly and with people like flamme has raised them since they were children. She sees all their talent and potential and the only reason they never reach her heights is because thyre human and they die. So whenever she thinks about how they could have become "great mages" she also has to think about how they died bc thats why they didnt become what she hoped for them. Like when you have a child and dream of sending them off to college bc they are prodigies and youre proud of them and want to help them develope further, only to be cut short through death has to be decastating and Serie has done that numerous times. I can't imagine how Frieren will cope when Fern passes and I wonder if she will take up another student or isolate herself for a couple hundred years or make up with serie, now that hey undrstand each other better. When they talk about that flower spell and how serie still uses it, i always think about how tenderly she held child flammes hand

Limini

10/10 show for me too. It's so tender. It's really healing with its sentimental moments as well as the action that just gives you peace and hope for the world

Limini

The show made me rethink how i live my life and how i spend my time. I've begun reaching out to my friends more often even for inane things and reconnecting with friends i havent spoken to for a long time. I don't want to rush but i also don't want to waste my time. I occasionally have phases of depression where i just seem to loose a lot of time and ooportunities. frieren just helps finding peace with that and moving forward in a better direction

Limini

Yeah frieren was once a mage who only knew how to fight and only recently (for elfs) learned how to connect and communicate. She's not as bad as Serie anymore but not quite on himmels level either

Limini

*Lernen. There's always a chance for both I think it also depends on the circumstances. Like if one of them would take a hostage or how well they knew the terrain. I feel like Frieren hasn't really tried here

HBelmont67

Sense stated at the start of the second test that the escape golems were developed by Lernen.

Mortis

Serie is very much a “this is my stupid, disappointing son, I love him more than anything” kinda person

Yuma Nanami

Indeed, cant wait for Season 2 but also have to wait for the Dub... unless that's when the Dub is planned to release. Gonna miss my Friday Show as I'm not a fan of Mob 100 but hope you all enjoy it.

StorytellerDave

I cannot wait for season 2. This is definitely one of my all time favourite TV shows ever. It is just brilliant in every way, Kanehito Yamada was absolutely cooking with this one. Frieren: Beyond Journeys End and Orb: On the Movmeents of the Earth are like neck and neck for the top spot honestly. It is a bit disappointing that neither got anime of the year, but it is okay, they are more like anime of the decade anyways.

Limini

This is the one episode where at times i felt the translation lacking. Like the convo between frieren and wirbel and lernen. and when Serie says something along the lines of "that is how a mage ought to be" to wirbel

HBelmont67

He never outright stated that it was his wife's.

Limini

Everyone please give mob a chance. The first few episodes are going to be rough for anyone who doesn't dig the artstyle but it's just as heartwarming and action packed as frieren at times. Although the character arcs remind me more of haikyuu. A great show that will make you laugh and inspire you if youre willing to meet it where it's at

HBelmont67

So long, Frieren Fridays. It's been . . . magical.

HBelmont67

Agreed. Would've been the superior choice.

Limini

Lernen is also the grandpa of Ehre. And when Ehre talks about Fern she said something along the lines of "she fights just like my grandpa, so oldschool" and Frieren belives Fern will someday surpass her. So Lernen and Fern are potentially on the List to defeat frieren. Lernen is like everywhere all over the arc but bc he is so timid, i almost forgot him. He's the one in the beginning letting Frieren tale the test with the holy emblem. Ehre talks about him to fern and wirbel ("my grandpa is a first class mage, if we fail i can ask him to escort us to the north" paraphrasing") he made the golems of course and at the very end Ehre is introducing them to her newparty. I just think it's so ironic that he an d Serie want him to be a bit more menorable but I forgot him so fast until he tried to kill Frieren. Until then he was on the same level as Falsch or Genau in terms of being background charas

HBelmont67

Never thought about it that that 😅

20 16

You can use very obvious context clues

20 16

Lol um no . It's good but it's basically the same thing every time

20 16

Don't need to say all this. If you don't like mob then your opinions clearly don't matter. That's all you should say .

Swanzy

Aaah crying with you guys tooo! Gonna miss Freiren Fridays! 🥹

MaSeshield9277

It would be really cool to see you guys do some like short form videos reacting to edits to the show. The relationships and plot points and dynamics. So much to enjoy

Limini

Mob is not perfect and there are plenty of reasons not to like it, just as with any other show. I don't want to convince people who do not like it to like it. I'm just hoping that people will give it a chance and try to engage with it beyond what they see at first glance. If people have seen it and decided they do not want to watch it again then they shouldnt, that'd be a waste of time. I just personally love the show mob as I love frieren and HQ for example and am hoping to share the joy and what I've gained. I want other people to gain something for themselves too. If they don't like mob their opinions still matter. I don't want to talk down to people or write off their opinions as stupid.

HBelmont67

I'm glad that they watched the end credits, but did they really miss that shot of Sein sitting on a beach with a lady in the background? ☹️

StorytellerDave

It parallels Lernens thought process pretty well. He was thinking that he could not go down in history like the Heroes party, so instead he would go down in infamy and be remembered as a the person who killed Frieren. Meanwhile, with Serie, rather than make sure Frieren is remembered for any of her heroic or impressive deeds, she is like - Hey, to enforce a ban, you gotta know who the person that is banned is, so Serie being the tsundere that she is, has Frieren banned for a thousand years, that will make sure she is remembered as that one person who is not allowed inside. It is a bit of a troll move, but I respect it.

Limini

Imagine we meet sein again and he's just married with a kid or something

KaladinStormLight

It really was a joke that solo leveling won anime of the year

Matthew Jobin

20 16 is pressed as hell in these comments LOL

Æther Paradox

IGN voted Frieren anime of the year. Crunchyroll choose Solo Leveling. I think Frieren is far more well rounded, but Solo Leveling reached far outside typical anime audiences. So I understand both choices.

Alejandro Rosado

Something this special doesn't come around often loved this anime

HBelmont67

Like, "we get it. You like Mob Psycho 100. No need to bash on other people for it."

StorytellerDave

I watched the first episode last week, the art is very One Punch Man reminiscent to me. Honestly it does not bother me at all. If anything of the new picks, Vinland is giving me the most mindfucks with its period perfect clothing and armor and then 2 seconds later it is anime dual wielding dagger fights. It legit gives me whiplash.

Limini

One punch man has the same author/mangaka/artist so thats not surprising. I wonder if vinland would have more or less fans if it was more grounded like orb

StorytellerDave

I love how Montana had her instant reaction of blaming Serie being the teacher as to why none of her students reached their potential, but in this case it is actually not the teachers fault, it is the fault of Death. I think the thing that really frustrates the hell out of Serie is that I dont think she is that talented and she knows it. She is the strongest mage because she is the oldest, but she sees all these prodigies who are so much more talented than her, and she sees their potential, she knows how much they could do if they had the same lifespan that she does, but they can never reach those heights, because they just dont have the lifespan necessary for it.

Hawk

Or Lernen being Ehre's grandfather, now introduced to Scharf and Wirbel.

HBelmont67

You're still on that?

David L

Imo, Solo Leveling is a great show for some turn-your-brain-off entertainment with lots of action and cool visuals; that's a perfectly valid reason to like something. Frieren has a vastly better story and emotional weight to it, but it is something that requires you to think and get invested in to enjoy it and that is always going to have a less broad appeal. So I'm disappointed but not surprised by the Crunchyroll results.

HBelmont67

As usual, they missed the point. 🫩

HBelmont67

Both shows are good. Just different kinds of good.

HBelmont67

Wirbel's conversation with Frieren really won me over. He went from a character I already thought was cool to my favorite new addition in this arc. It helps that he's voiced by Lemillion from My Hero. Ricco Fajardo has always been one of my favorite VA's in the anime community. He just has a natural way of saying dialogue that sounds so good, regardless of whatever character he's playing.

StorytellerDave

Well, you need to have seen the show once at least to really get it

David L

It's one of those signs that Frieren has a lot of depth to mine; multiple viewings can be very rewarding

Yuion

To me it seems that Serie truely wants to have a student that surpasses her, which is her unreasonable benchmark for being a disappointment or not. To expect a human with such a short life span to surpass her, the "living grimmoire" wo knows almost every spell in existence, whose mana capacity is suppressed as high as frierens mana uncompressed is basically impossible.

HBelmont67

I could tell my first watch that Serie didn't mean what she was saying. It's true that Frieren hits different on multiple rewatches, but this is less about having getting context, and more about them just getting a bad vibe from the character and ignoring what's being shown.

StorytellerDave

Oh yeah, I have seen it so many times, I saw the sub, dub even the German dub. There's so many little details you don't pick up on until at least 1 rewatch

Alseriph

Personally I would have liked Frieren to win anime of the year. However, even if it hadn’t Solo Leveling wouldn’t have been my second choice. I haven’t watched Apothecary Diaries, but I’ve heard it’s great. Although, my second choice would’ve been Delicious in Dungeon, I think it was amazing. Solo Leveling is good, for the action and hype moments. I think Aleks Lee deserved to win English Voice Actor (even though I would’ve also liked Frieren to win it). I also think SL deserved action anime. But Anime of the Year and Best New Series were not SL in my opinion.

HBelmont67

German dub, huh? How is it? Given that most of the naming schemes are based on German words, maybe it sounds more natural in that format?

HBelmont67

That I actually never noticed before.

Letts React

“As usual, they missed the point” coming from you H bomb is RICH lol

Letts React

Says after you bash us for not perfectly interpreting your fave anime 1 second after we watch something lol

Letts React

Ok I already replied but this comment from you is just wild. Viewers that expect 100% perfection of understanding on first moment after watching when they can’t comprehend ENDEAVORS ARC after EXTENSIVE explanation is just SO not valid. I love hearing deeper themes we maybe didn’t pick up on like the way David does in the original comment, but can we stop with the expectations of us having the SAME reaction you do? Gets really tiring and honestly stressful sometimes

Letts React

Gonna miss it too!!!! Thanks for watching with us!!

HBelmont67

How bout we both agree to try better? I apologize if this has become a problem for me, but I've also felt for a while now that you single out certain commenters solely for having different opinions than you. Am I wrong? Even if that's not your intention, it's how it feels.

HBelmont67

Also, I typed out my previous comment before I noticed your answer, sry

HBelmont67

I think, just like the Oscars, winning Anime of the Year doesn't need to be the end all, be all of the anime that came out each year.

Letts React

Nah you’re wrong, and thanks for the apology :) I can understand you specifically being singled out, but that’s because you and pretty much you alone specifically have these incredibly unrealistic expectations and comment really offputting and hurtful things repeatedly, despite like maybe upwards of 50 attempts from me to try to tell you to chill out.

Letts React

Seriously in GOAT contention for me, and it’s only SEASON 1

HBelmont67

Well, I don't intend to come off that way. That's never how I mean to come across. Just like I'm sure you're not trying to disregard other opinions, but again. That's how it feels sometimes, at least to me.

HBelmont67

Hey, I remember Montana referencing the starfish parable in My Hero Academia season four, when talking about Jiro helping bring Eri out of the darkness! 😃

Letts React

Bro this is the exact thing I’m talking about. You didn’t hear a single thing I wrote. I just told you that it’s pretty much 95% you that I “single out,” but it’s because only you have not gotten the message that you need to calm down. Others have had moments where they get heated or passionate about something and say something a little rude, and when we mention that they typically go “oh didn’t mean for it to sound that way my bad” then they don’t have another issue. You are the sole person who continuously I have to tell to stop being rude, having unrealistic expectations, or going after other commenters. Long story short, you are being singled out, because you singularly are commenting problematic things the most. And about “disregarding opinions,” the only ones I disregard are ones like “the wife beater isn’t that bad” or “I won't lie, Montana's complete stubbornness and animosity towards Endeavor is starting to get annoying.” -exact quote from you Like there is a difference between opinions on shows, and opinions on me and Montana and general, and while I’d like to say “and you know that,” I don’t think you do.

HBelmont67

As they said in the discussion, this show really has everything. 🙌

HBelmont67

Makes you wonder why she hasn't sought out other elves. Maybe this is all implying that there . . . aren't any. Or, if there are, they're spread to the wind and keep a low profile, like Frieren and Kraft.

Letts React

After editing and having time to think on it I TOTALLY see that

HBelmont67

REALLY hope season two keeps up the quality. 🤞

Letts React

What do you think of her saying “I have to stop taking human apprentices”

Letts React

Agreed! January can’t come soon enough

HBelmont67

Frieren did mention at the start of the arc that she's lost to almost a dozen mages weaker than her. I'm confident Lernen would be on their level, if not higher.

HBelmont67

*Frieren, and I thought FMAB had overtaken it again. Wasn't that how it went when Oshi No Ko became that #1 anime? I didn't realize Frieren was still holding that title, but good for her! 👍

HBelmont67

That's actually insanely impressive. Land's clones seem to operate like (I'm gonna use a recent gaming example) Sun Wukong from Black Myth Wukong, where every clown is as strong and capable as the original, despite being a copy. And that fact he can do all this from a DISTANCE is even more impressive.

Letts React

Would KILL to have that spell when camping

HBelmont67

Also, I DREAD what Ubel will be capable of if she eventually empathizes with Land and learns this magic. 😵

Swanzy

Exactly my thought! 😁

Guadalupe Leon

Frieren has a 9.30/10 on MAL and FMAB has a 9.10/10 on MAL. Frieren has been number 1 for a while

Franina

It keeps breaking her heart. From a trainer, master, coach point of view it hurts so much when you see someone with so much talent and potential and they don’t live up to it even though you can see that they can. Also since they’re all humans they die so quickly from her point of view. So you have a person who could’ve reached great heights and do beautiful things but they don’t live up to it and then they die. She tries to act like she doesn’t care but you can tell it hurts her from the way she talks about it. The way she remembers all of her student’s favorite spells and the way she recalled flamme’s childhood and she had a smile on her face. Serie also said none of them have surpassed her. So it must hurt her knowing that as someone’s teacher she couldn’t help them reach their fullest potential. All her students fall just short of successful in her mind. And part of the blame falls on her. It also says a lot about the potential those humans have. If she thinks they could surpass an elf as old as her in terms of magic and greatness. She comes off as bitter and angry but that’s just her masking most of her pain.

Suplee215

I think that and then instantly turning it around really proves how much frieren is right. Shes an impulsive child. Not completely a bad thing but she certainly is fickle

Joe Dunams

I mean is it a sucker punch when he literally says he's going to be infamous as the mage that killed Frieren BEFORE he attacks her? Like i feel like that's enough of a warning that attack was coming, lol.

HamboneKablooey

Serie's final test can easily be summed up as such: It's a vibe check, but she doesn't care what kind of vibes you have, just that you have them. Ubel's a freak, Land had the audacity to not take the test in person, Wirbel is a tactically minded soldier who views magic practically, much like Serie herself, and Methode is a quirky weirdo who's not afraid to say exactly what she's thinking. All very different, but all distinct. Meanwhile, Kanne, Laufen, Scharf and Ehre all have nothing really going for them. Kanne's still too inexperienced to really be a true First Class Mage, and the other 3 are so forgettable that I had to look up their names for this comment. Even her failure of Frieren follows this, Frieren refuses to engage with Serie's taunting, remaining true to who she is as the very thing Serie dislikes, someone who thinks differently than her. Decidedly vibeless, in Serie's eyes, even if we as viewers disagree.

Drake

Not only is this a beautiful series that tells interesting and beautiful stories and lessons, but also leaves things up to interpretation in a way that doesn't feel like a cop-out for the sake of seeming smarter than it is etc. All around fantastic series and glad you two watched it and loved it. <3

HBelmont67

All good points, tho it's funny that you called out Kanne, Laufen, Scharf, and Ehre for being forgettable while COMPLETELY forgetting about the fifth one Dunste lol, whose only memorable qualities were his mustache and being voiced by Chris Sabat.

真嗣 • Shinji

Currently watching from a bar in Tokyo, couldn’t wait hahah

RogerS

I always find it hearth breaking that we see Frieren start crying when she is remembering Himmels words about tearful goodbyes and how it would be embarrassing when they met again. Realizing that she would never meet Himmel again hit her hard during the funeral.

gamerx

I love Kenny trying to cover his ass from the comments under last video and completely missing the point. 😂

HamboneKablooey

Lol proving my point entirely! Utterly vibeless

Letts React

Cover my ass? What do u mean lol, pretty common that we might miss an interpretation then get it during editing, watching 1000 episodes at some point you get stuff wrong haha If you mean commenting more on this post, that’s just cause it’s the final episode

Suplee215

Yup. Serie has a very specific idea of what a mage should be and if you meet her subjective standards congrats. She really is a child.

GooseToes

Y'all are gonna love it even more on the rewatch- all the little details will start jumping out at you

Limini

There was a Elf genocide and the few that are left have little motivation to procreate so as frieren said they are "quietly going extinct". And even if there are lots of other elves, it seems like Serie just tales on a special kind of prodigy to teach. Not all Elves are mages, even less would be good mages and even less would put up with series attitude. I don't think she has these unattainabble standards for her students, i think that: 1. She just views time differently and maybe plots their achievements on her timeline and then gets surprised by time passing too quickly 2. She knows the potential humans have like Flamme and Fern who advance so quickly. Like Qual and Frieren had to engineer Zoltrack for years while others just learn it off the bat. If you look at athletes like figure skaters, skills that before took years to learn, that only senior skaters could do are now standard repetoire for junior skaters. So Serie might have adjusted to that, to the "era of humans" 3. She just looks forward to teaching them and is maybe dissapointed that she has to stop before she can get "to the good stuff" bc they die 4. You dont need more mana to e a greater mage. And with the right aptitude learning new spells seems to be a quick thing, i mean everybody learned their "priviliges" in a single evening it seems. I think she wants mages who are capable of thinking beyond of whats currently possible.

Limini

While i love serie and am one of her biggest defenders, everytime she hides her feelings i want to shake her and scream. She is so rude and intentionally hurting her students feelings in an attempt to distance herself. It's so frustrating. I feel so sorry for Lernen who is this great mage with a wife and kids and grandkids who serie holds in high regard but he still feels inadequate in his old age bc of series words. I don't think she knows how much influence she has over her students be it Flamme or Lernen. A different kind of immature compared to Frieren.

Limini

When Wirbel says "Death isnt't the onyly goodbye in life" that hurt so much. I kind of expected a bigger reaction from frieren. When i think back on the first episode, I really can't believe that hey let himmel die right then and there. When we saw him after the 50 years time skip i was thinking "a so it's going to be slice of life and the two of them living out his last years" and he just dies. He's just gone and you can really feel time slippin through her fingers and the regret she has not using her time differently. When Fern had to explain to her that she won't spend three years searching for the flower and Frieren needed that to understand how time is still different. The lesson had to sink in for her. That's so crazy. Like time truly just keeps moving. Idk how to express what i wanted to express but it's something along the lines of being helpless against time and needing time to adjust oneself but time keeps movingon regardless idk

Limini

When i watched it on my own i was unsure about how intentional the feet thing is bc it's so random to put such a focus on it but when you guys called it out, i felt so validated

Limini

Starks running gags are the best. his fear of nobles, him being so heroic everyone just likes him whereever he goes. It's highlighted again in Wirbels convo but frieren truly isnt a hero at all and she doesnt want to be

thevoidbender

I feel for Serie even if I don’t agree with her actions/outlook. She gets to see that spark and joy of magic her students have at the beginning kind of like watching your child grow/learn but also has to watch it eventually flicker and die out in such a short time (for her). It’s kind of sad.

thevoidbender

Stark is so funny I can’t with him 😂

Suplee215

I just want to say this is an amazing anime and you two as usual give great reactions. Also forgot how spicy some comments can get. It seems like that js more common for anime reactions so I dont see them as often

ces

I love how the lessons in Frieren aren't linear, they're always callbacks just like Frieren's experience. When we encounter anyhting (for example, Lernen wanting to leave a legacy to accompany Serie) the root of it was almost always told explicitly many epiosdes before, but it just takes a while for a viewer to put the pieces together, just like Frieren did (as in, Himmel wanted to be a hero to have that legacy accompany Frieren).

Spooky_man

Season 2 will be great!

Maafax Kelen

I think there is something interesting words noting related to the whole overlook of what we know. The party of heroes kills the demon king. The demons hides in fear. Himmel dies. And the demons come back and start to expand on different part of the world but most importantly to the north. Serie comes after few decades and decides that's it's too dangerous to go unprepared in the northern region. Serie create the magic association to supervise magic (doing what Flamme ask her to do 1000 years before and she refuses, but now she does it) I like the whole Dynamic of the overworld and time we can grasp from there journey. Can't wait for season 2. In the north there might qo many mighty groups and even mighty danger for Serie to step in the world and cut the North from the other part of the world

StorytellerDave

Oh gods, I only now 2 weeks later seen this comment warzone I spawned...it wasn't intentional. Didn't mean to throw any shade at anyone, I actually find Montana's instant defensiveness of students an endearing quality, it was just funny to see it in this instance (though given my mom is a teacher I've heard plenty of horror stories of students being just the absolute WORST)

StorytellerDave

I think Frieren will learn more of how Serie feels as Fern is going up there in age. It's easy for her now, but Serie lost dozens of her students before, and to us they may not mean much right now, so it's hard to really think of them as the same as Fern is to Frieren, but that is basically who they were to Serie.

Walter Lajara

Serie loves her students, she just doesn’t have the emotional capacity to behave like she does. Plus having to basically raise them only to watch them die over and over has definitely left her bitter. But she still always takes on new students because she deep down really loves to teach magic to those she thinks are worthy. She even has unrealistically high expectations for all of them, like a parent/teacher, and no matter what they accomplish (Flamme) she always wants more for them.

HBelmont67

Season two started a week ago, and it's already amazing! ✨

JaySpotTx

It may have been forever since this reaction post, but now that I'm all the way caught up, I'm CONVINCED Flamme KNEW the importance of teaching Frieren the Flower Spell, much the same way as she knew Frieren would have regrets which would necessitate the journey to "Heaven" in the series. Flamme knew the flower spell would be the spark to defeat the demon king. I also love that Frieren, unlike Flamme with Frieren, hasn't taught Fern any offensive magic (Fern knew Zoltraak b4 she met Frieren). Just wild stuff.

Shafiq

I’ll say how I interpreted flamme. I don’t think she taught frieren that spell out of importance or anything along that line if you notice with her and frieren’s story together flamme asked her the same question both at the beginning and end of their life together, “do you love magic?” Beginning was a bonafide unquestionable yes but after 50 years of learning combat magic she asked her again and her answer changed to “I guess so” and I believe that showed flamme a few things. 1 that frieren is the same type of mage as her as far as what she loved about magic and why and 2 that frieren loved the beauty of magic and things that are and can be considered useless magic in a world of war and turmoil. I essentially say this to say I believe Flamme taught her that spell to simply keep her ideals and love for magic sparked after teaching her essentially forms of magic she doesn’t like for 50 years being combat magic
