Third..

Nickster

I was gonna say first but all these ppl showed up

oni

this arc is so peak. hehehehhee

pineapplegreg

I love Shizuku and Blinky, despite how disturbing it is to watch them vacum up the bodies

Mary Baker

I would just like to point out that Killua’s family are assassins, and that other assassins could have similar techniques. Chairman Netero recognized rhythm echo immediately, so it’s not certain everything Killua does is a family specific skill. 🤷‍♀️

Historia-Europa

Did you know the guy playing the lead bodyguard is the same guy who voices Askaladd

Cyan_Sky9135

I remember dissecting an owl pellet back in 7th grade science class! We had to rearrange the bones to form what ever animal it may have eaten! It was quite fun but also disgusting at the same time. lol better than dissecting a frog! I definitely wouldnt have liked that 😖

Cube Pylum

I'm confused what you meant my "This is the one Kurapika is after" he's said before he's going after the entire phantom troupe

Cube Pylum

The pronunciation of Uvogin is killing me

Yuma Nanami

So this episode confirms the story of Jesus in the Hunter Universe, Jesus would have been a Nen User XD

Cube Pylum

Remember we have already seen someone use one of Killuas ability and learned it prior to having anything to do with the Zoldyks, the apprentice butler that could use rhythm echo as a kid learned in the city that she was from, it's not just a Zoldyk thing

StorytellerDave

Is it just me or it feels really weird for Jesus and Judas to both have existed in this world?

Dajuan Banks

The trains in AOT weren't random lol Eren saw them from his dads and other attack titan users memories

Yuma Nanami

The Theory that Feitan is a Zoldyck has been around forever, the thing that doesnt help is that the Author didn't have the idea of Nen yet early in the story. Bit of a Plot hole really but I don't let that diminish this amazing show.

Limini

"What's your nen power?" "Catholic guilt"

Calvin Boyce

You have to remember most people don’t know NEN even exist

Cosmic Youth

Would be even weirder if only one of them did, no?

Franina

lol thinking about what your Nen ability should be and you decide on a vacuum cleaner that can vacuum anything you tell it to. Smart but you gotta be crazy to think of something like that

StorytellerDave

Because this is clearly not Earth so where and when did they live?

Franina

When kurapika was creating his Nen weapon he said I need something strong enough to beat a really strong enhancer he was referring to uvogin which who they are talking about when they said “this is the one kurapika is after”. They’re saying this is the enhancer he was talking about it. They still know he’s after all of them

The Legendaria

Levi was actually inspired by the guy you thought he looks like levi. AOT is more successful but HxH Anime has been around since 1999

Phoenix_mercury

I think maybe it was meant as a this(a potential enhancer who's clearly strong af) one would be a good way to test/find out if he's(pika) as strong as he needs to be(if Kurapika can beat uvo, assuming really strong enhancer, then he can deal with the rest easily) so maybe "the one" was meant as a "this type of nen/person"

Joe Dunams

I also wouldn't have thought of chains. I think it's just part of being a summoner. The item/weapon you're suited for just pops into your head, lol.

David L

I mean, it's not exactly Not Earth either; for one thing all the continents in the HxH map are just Earth continents shuffled around and rotated. Yorknew is literally in the same place New York is. It's very much a fantasy Earth but it there's enough overlap this doesn't seem unreasonable.

David L

Yeah if feels like a lot of Killua's techniques from the Hunter Exam era are at least pseudo-Nen, they sort of have to be retroactively but it's not really been confirmed one way or the other as far as I know. They have confirmed people can use Nen without knowing it, heck Gon is even confirmed to have learned Zetsu during the Hunter Exam so it's not farfetched to assume the nails thing Killua does is a simple enhancer technique that he wouldn't even necessarily realize is Nen

StorytellerDave

I dunno man, it feels weird. Was Jesus a nen user then or what? Cuz there are people who can do half the miracles he did, so it feels like he would not be nearly as big of a deal in this world

Yuma Nanami

Indeed, thous are the reasons I see as well. Not sure when exactly he started to think of Nen but planting Gon using Zetsu either that early or to incorporate a random thing into the system is genius

Franina

That’s a fair point, but it’s more of a symbolic reference than literal. Anime (and fiction in general) will sometimes borrow real-world religious or cultural names to make a deeper point or evoke certain themes, even if the world isn’t Earth. The leader mentioning Jesus and Judas is probably meant to highlight betrayal and morality, not suggest those figures actually existed in the Hunter x Hunter universe.

David L

Gonna throw out a quick pronunciation correction for the future because youtube is notoriously hostile to it: Uvogin is pronounced more like Oo-voe-g-in. (I think you got there near the end but again, youtube is a butt about pronunciation)

David L

It's pretty obvious Kurapika doesn't know anything about them specifically given he doesn't react at all to seeing Uvo fighting here, so he wasn't referring to Uvo specifically. I'm pretty confident that was more of a rhetorical query. Like, a master enhancer will inevitably have more raw fighting strength than he will ever be capable of, so he is wondering if he will be able to create a technique capable of making up for that difference in strength.

Saiyasha

The Idea that Judas wasn't a traitor is not new. Some people think that he knew that Jesus had to die and was just playing his part, so to say. Some even go as far as to say he was the most loyal of Jesus' disciples, because he was willing to throw away honor and life for the greater good. One of the main ignitors of this line of thinking is the "Gospel of Judas" a non-canon Gospel, that was rejected by teh early christian church (They had a sitdown at some point to decide what was canon and what was not. Quite a few more controversial Gospels landed on the cutting room floor) The whole "The church tried to bury it" thing only added fuel to the fire of "He wasn't as bad as people say" fire

shanime reactions

no reaction to the gon and killua kiss in the hunterpedia

StorytellerDave

I feel like if you make a fantasy world you kinda have to commit to making your own history and religions and divorce from our own timeline. That doesn't mean you can't play off of real world stuff, or reference religions. For example, I read a book once where people went around carrying the symbol of a chair, because there was a messiah figure that was executed by the electric chair. He did not come back mind you, but it was a very on the nose reference to Christianity, but in a way where it was not literally Christianity.

Saiyasha

Okay, since no one has said it yet: The reason they knew _something_ was going to happen at teh auction was Neon's prediction. Rememeber that multiple of them described People who would go to the auction as "Going to sleep". My guess is that one of her clients was eitehr one of the Ten Dons himself or soemone very close, because they had the authority to dispatch one of the SHadowbeasts to hide the merchandise. But a Prediction like that likely isn't enough to get the whole thing called off, to vague and esoteric for that.

Franina

I wouldn’t think too deep into it. Religion really isn’t a huge theme in this anime. I would take it as a religious reference to make a point and that’s about it. The show has barely even scratched the surface when it comes to the world building. Other than that I hope you’re enjoying the show so far!

Bdflames

Oovogen XD nah anime names can always be weird you'll hear his name again at some point edit: no you got it in the questions yeah thats how you say it

David L

Not to dig too deep into religion stuff, but if part of the mythology is that everything that happens is a part of THE PLAN (tm), it could be argued that at most he was a sacrificial pawn and that being the villain of the story is simply the role he was playing (willingly or otherwise) in order to combat some greater evil. Which, and we are dipping into some deep post-anime SOILERS here, would actually be a rather apt metaphor for how Chrollo views the Phantom Troupe.

patricia jimjimcherie

18:17 MAN I LOVE UVOGIN SO MUCH ESPECIALLY THE MOMENT WHERE HE CATCHES THE BULLET. Honestly, him and Shalnark are my favorite Troupe members (yes I am a Kuroro hater (not really I do like him but he grates on my nerves)).

Saiyasha

Ah, I haven't been keeping up with the Dark Continent arc, so I don't know that much about it. I think I read about half of it as it came out, but I'll probably reread it at some point as most of it is so complicated, I can't recall it without a proper reread.

Timothy Heck

It’s so funny to me that Christianity is canon to the Hunter x Hunter world

Alayna Petty

Dalzone is so hot to me for no reason

Alayna Petty

God I cannot wait for the next episode I’m shaking in my boots with excitement

Timothy Heck

No yeah I’m with you lol it’s funny at best and sloppy world building at worst. Like sure there are times you just gotta hand wave away things like certain words or styles etc. being in use in a fictional world, but foundational stories of real-life religion isn’t usually one of them. It’s like if Abe Lincoln was on the five-zeni bill lol—it raises some questions it didn’t mean to ask. Still, ultimately not the biggest thing but it makes me laugh every time on rewatches

chrstian abrham

that was demonstration of her powers and they are 12 dont be weird
