It’s a Skyrim setting, I’ve spent around 250 hours making the lore, learning how to DM, and making roll 20 maps enemies and characters, about to play with my 6 groomsmen who are all beginners only did a 1v1 session 0 with me to do their origin, WISH ME LUCK!

You’ve got this, Kenny! Have fun

Good luck Kenny! As someone who runs 48 hours of dnd a week as a full time job, you will smash this! The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy whatever the story you tell together ends up being no matter how chaotic!!!!

MaSeshield9277

You're gonna crush it Kenny. The main thing is you all have fun :D

Hell yeah. I remember the first time I DMed and how fuckin nerve wracking it was. Its a blast, and theres so much you have to adapt to. Just dont be scared to improv, some of my favorite moments came from me just letting the players do something weird and unexpected and following through with it. The beauty of the game is thats its collaborative. Just as you cannot DM without the players, they cant play without the DM. Enjoy and good luck

Its going to be a good time, I can always remember how amazing it is to DM for the first time. I wish you luck!

Good luck Kenny. My biggest word of advice, be prepared for your players to make a massive decision that you didn't expect that renders half of that 250 hours of prep moot. DMing is fun~

Good luck be flexible and have fun

Chloe McNamara

Good luck!!! I hope you find much whimsy and fluidity of story! (Be ready to abandon your plans)

Chris

Good luck!!! Don’t be an afraid to put some slight rails on the story. For a first time DM with first time players giving them some direction is the way to do things. Makes it easier for both sides to get into the swing of things. I tried to run a true sandbox game as my first ever with new players and it very quickly got away from me.

Good luck and have fun!

We recycle in the Letts house 😂😂😂

That is my goal, set a pretty straightforward path, and open up possibilities as they get more comfortable with the game! Goal now is to have cinematic moments happen for their characters so they’re rewarded for the work they did researching and making something unique. But def gonna also just read the room and see what they want!

You got this!!! Have fun and trust yourself and your players ability to story tell!!!!

HopelesslyImmersed

Good luck! Play off the group's energy and find your progression stride, let them discover the vast world you created :)

I would recommend trying a prewritten for your first time but the amount of work youve done shows you are far more prepared than any prewritten lol Good luck and remember sometimes the rules can hinder the fun but other times the fun can get out of hand and throw off anything you have prepared. Balance is key

Can you please livestream it!?

Luís

That's awesome! Drink in the moment, there's no time like the first 😊

To sum up my first DM experience, this quote from Captain Cold should relate: "Make the plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails, throw away the plan.” Dont be too hard on yourself and remember as long as everyone’s having fun, thats what matters. Good Luck.

My dm advice. If you NEED to progress a plot point don't put it behind a roll. Not even an easy roll, setting a DC 10 Investigation and watching all your players roll terribly can be frustrating. I know that sounds obvious but it can be very tempting to have your players roll for everything, but when you do that it means they can fail at doing anything. Good luck and have fun!

Letts React

My go to is to have a roll that is needed happen if they fail, but some aspects go wrong. Like they successfully unlock the door, but trigger an alarm system on a fail

kenny, would love to get a podcast or a stream of your dnd sessions one day!

T

That strikes me as something you’ll get quite good at. Have fun and good luck

Good Luck, would love updates as the game progresses. Everyone finds their style in DMing and it is the best feeling ever when your entire table says, "great session." Keep at it, don't stress, and you will have even more fun.

Catalin

As a forever DM, my advice is, don't over plan because your party will make things go off the rails. . I would also say make sure you're clear with ground rules before the game starts. Especially with the basics like PKing

12:35 - OMFG I just noticed, Vex says Viridian during her magic word guesses, OMG that is such a sneaky reference to put into a Keyleth episode. Holy crap...
