Did- did Canute just become the main character??

Erin Ryan

Canutes rejection of god speech gives me chills everytime

Erin Ryan

This show is so peak I could cry

robo

very happy you noticed the details of canute’s eyes changing! the manga artist yukimura is very well known for the amount of detail and soul he is able to draw in characters’ eyes. wit studios did an incredible job this season of honoring that as well

BLUEMONKEY18

From what we’ve heard from Thors a true warrior has no enemies and doesn’t need a sword. The prince embodied both of those at the end here

真嗣 • Shinji

Double drop!! Can’t wait to watch on my lunch break thanks Kenny

Erin Ryan

The priest was amazed by Thors because he didn't harm or kill anyone. He displayed nothing but kindness in this world, the essence of love from someone living

真嗣 • Shinji

Yukimura somehow having 3 main characters just because he can:

Canute has begun his journey, finally.

Showing Eve taking the apple as Canute and the priest talk about sin and humanity is such BRILLIANT symbolism. 🍎 I've yet to see a show tackle Christianity the way Vinland Saga does. ✝️

No one asked but here’s my thoughts on the Priest’s point about discrimination. I think what matters most is the universal truth of being human, which is that the love we feel for others rarely extends beyond ourselves, our friends and our families, despite God (across most at least the Abrahamic religions) calling for us to strive for something greater. Of course though, it’s something that we can never really attain — unconditional love. Whether you agree the love we feel for the people in our life is truly just discrimination doesn’t matter, but if one is to accept the notion we should strive “to love thy neighbor” for example (or anything similar) they’ll see this is at least an accurate interpretation of how our experience of “love” is incomplete and finite, while God asks us try to to make it infinite and unconditional. I at least find it personally interesting because despite being raised religious and losing my religion in the Army, I choose to believe this is the point of the “test” in life… to strive for goodness and love until the very end, because giving of yourself fully despite the futility is the closest we can get to loving unconditionally.

I 100% believe thorfinn is picking up some of askeladds taunting/shit talking

Erin Ryan

The way the actual main character lowkey takes a backseat in the first season yet its still perfect

Mark Romero

Wow, this was beautifully put. I'm glad I read it. :)

CANUTE IS HIM

Aidan Whitebook

You might not have been thinking of this Kenny, but I've heard people compare the music in this episode to the Whiterun music from Skyrim

Aidan Whitebook

Also idk if it's been mentioned but Canute's voice actor Griffin Burns also played Muichiro Tokito from Demon Slayer and Colt from season 4 of Attack on Titan

NiamhJP03

Such a powerful scene, I cry every time he embraces Bjorn

Ragnar was lingering so long I thought he was going to ask for his search history to be deleted. "Hairstyles for cone head.", "Dating advice for handsome men but with cone head.", "how to beatbox"

I was just about to comment some of the mistake of the priest philosophy as soundful and respectful I could be. I understood his perspective on the life he was living in, but I realized through his philosophy it felt more ignorant and sad to his own faith. My reason is if he discerned himself through the words in the scripture. It is said multiple time our life will be hard for many reason we all know why in Christianity. I am sociopath I don't have a reason to be bias but you do not even need to be religious to really see the mistake in his philosophy.

Liam Hannan

Montana’s face when something comes close to being religious philosophy : 😠 Montana’s face when someone rejects God: 😃

AyeJB03

Not gonna lie him rejecting God doesn’t go so well for his development (subjectively).

AyeJB03

Exactly what I was thinking. 😂

AyeJB03

The way I interpreted what the priest said about love and what Canute figured out about love is, that in order to truly love you must have the inability to hate. The Apple represents choice between good and evil and because that apple was eaten we all have good and evil within us. Before the apple was eaten, we were only good without any knowledge of evil. But love is the essence of God‘s perfect creation before choice of evil was ever involved. So the sun wind, snow mountains, all God’s creation without the choice of evil, which is the essence of love.

AyeJB03

The whole point of the Bible isn’t to attain anything or even to attain perfection. The point of the Bible is that even if we truly in our hearts, want to attain pure love and perfection, it is impossible, because we are sinners, and we need God to take our sins because we have no chance without him. The Bible teaches us how to be better, but it is through Christ that allows anyone to have enough faith to truly change and try. Most people could give a rip about their wrongdoings or negative mindsets enough to change their way of thought. It is only through Christ and his teachings in the Bible that we can totally be renewed and see through the lens of what God teaches us. I know you’re not religious so this is just gonna sound like a bunch of mumbo jumbo. But I fully believe this just thought I’d comment based on a specific sentence I read from your comment.

chrstian abrham

this show actually embodys christianity btw but okay

Canute got the Eren Yeager jacket scene
