That ending is _so brutal_ especially after Gon just haves his little „Kite‘s definitely alive“ speech. And remember _he still believes that!_ Until they finally get there, Gon will be under the full believe that this is a rescue mission to get Kite out.

The most effective twist are sudden and come out of nowhere I can’t help but think back to AOT and how Reiner causally confessed to being the armored titan. I love these scenes so much I was so shocked when I saw this ending just like the above scene I mentioned

I think we all went through that stage of denial, when we saw Pitou sitting with Kites head in her lap...

Kite being able to use his En to sense enemies in approximately 45 meters and in his own words probably a bit more than that if he really tried and then to see Pitou soooo far away just sense them in the hive, always gives me the chills.. She jumped THAT far in a split second. Pitou is so scary. And the fact that she just went out to test how strong she really is with no combat experience and still is able to defeat an experienced and skilled nen user as Kite.. I think this episode is such an insane episode and really puts things in perspective. Gon and Killua were mere foot soldiers compared to Pitou. Kite probably a squadron leader.
