Ok I'm editing for youtube, just realized THE ONLY REASON KUDO GOT OFA IS BECAUSE ALL FOR ONE EXPLODED HIS BROTHER, PUTTING HIS BLOOD IN KUDOS MOUTH! Great detail!

Will be watching 8x6 later today/tomorrow and posting asap!!

Oh my God, I never realized that!!!! I was kind of wondering, because Kudo clearly had no idea what happened and now I think Yoiichi never really planned to do that, I think he just had this inane hope of "Maybe something can stop my brother!" And that will paired with the blood made the quirk jump for the first time.

Never noticed that! I think it must have been a combination of Yoichii thinking "Go" or something like that as he died while the blood was the DNA required Super cool detail!!!

That’s some quick thinking on Yoichi’s part if true! (For the record the transfer of OFA is established to always be intentional so that’s why I said this. Unless it’s just a matter of “will,” like Yoichi would just have to be willing to trust Kudo and that was enough to make the transfer work)

My head canon is still the fan theories that Kudo and Yoichi were secretly lovers it’s preferable to that disturbing realization

I always thought that the pass happened before he died. While they were running in the sewers. Yoichi was alway sick so his germs would be the DNA. (All-Might made passing way more complicated than he needed to. It’s way easier to have DNA be a catalyst than he made it that day.)

I was thinking dead skin cells in a handshake would’ve been enough. (But sneezing on him would’ve been hilarious. All-Might: ACHOO! Ok now you have my power.) OFA’s transfer might as well just be a contact quirk purely because human bodies are just gross when you break it down to the molecular level

I don't even think it was necessarily intentional. This last season especially is talking a lot about "Will" and Yoiichi didn't even know he had a quirk to begin with (I think the passing on thing was his original quirk, while the stockpile was the one AFO gave him) So i think it was more thathe was desperate to build something that couldstop his brother and that desperate will combined with the blood transfered the quirk to Kudo.

I see it more like AFO unintentionally creating One For All, just like how he gave Yoichi one half of the base Quirk. Kudo and Bruce likely NEVER would have known about the ability to pass it on had Yoichi not died the way he did.

i think the genetic material needs to be ingested somehow. Be it blood transfer, mucous membranes or by eating it. So if deku licked his hand after it might would have worked. But dead skin cells usually (at least the outer layer) do not contain the nucleus and therefore most of the dna is missing/incomplete.

AFO didn't give him one half of the base quirk. Yoichi had the same quirk as AFO (twins so probably same genetic material) taking and passing on quirks but bc if malnutrition his quirk factor was malformed and Yoichi ended up with a different version of AFO. He could pass on quirks and "take" quirk factors into OFA. The stockpiling quirk was given to him fully and is seperate from his initial quirk. The strength comes from the stockpiling quirk and the other quirkfactors are from Yoichis malformed initial quirk

I seem to recall a clip in season 5 as Shinomori to Banjo all the way to En to Nana it was nothing but the same kind of hand reach out as Kudo did to Yoichi. I know the context changed a BIT with En, which…I have words about his transfer choice in his condition. But it just seemed to be shown to be a handshake with the intent to pass with the others. Also there’s the known forceful transfer so we don’t have the context of that either. But I doubt it was shoving a DNA sample into someone’s mouth.

i think that scene was mostly symbolic (hands reaching out) bc it shows yoichi giving the quirk to kudo via handshake but we know it was through blood transfer and i believe i read somewhere that banjo gave it to en via bloody handshake as well. En gave his hair, deku gave it to bakugo via blood and the way deku gives it to shiggy is more than just touching too.

Exactly. The base Quirk of One For All (not counting Blackwhip, Danger Sense, etc) was the Stockpile Quirk and Passing On Quirk combined. AFO gave his brother half of it, and then, as a consequence of killing him in front of Kudo, revealed the other half. All For One sowed the seeds of his own defeat, in this manner.

the only forceful transfers were yoichi to kudo and deku to shiggy right? and those were blood related. Nothing needs to enter the mouth but either blood transfer or mucous membrane. So when blood hits the eye counts too or spit, etc. Plus Yoichis transfer quirk is a malformed/lesser version of AFO who could do it with touch only, so i believe Yoichi needs an extra step since his quirk is not fully formed

There had to be more to it than just getting it in his mouth though. One for all can only be passed on willingly. It has stated this numerous times. That means on some unconscious level Yoichi was willing to transfer it to him in his moment of death.

It's an inside joke in the fandom. When the first manga panels came out it was pretty vague when and how the transfer happened and everyone was making jokes/theories about ridicoulous ways the transfers could have happened and making out sloppy style was one of the more persistent memes

Ah i thought you meant his passing on quirk is his base quirk. I still see OFA as a shorthand for two seperate quirks tho. Just like AFO is seperate from all his other quirks

I always saw the malnourished quirk is why it was transfer with nothing to transfer. Either would have been full OFA with stockpile, or another AFO quirk. I WANT to clarify more about transfer, but I can’t for spoiler reasons. They’re an episode ahead in real time now, but I still can’t be specific.
