Shimura being only vestige rejected and present is so cruel, yet so poetic, given that Shigiraki's origin, when you get to the literal core of it, is because of HER. 😬 Ever since I read it in the manga, I can't get Shimura's reaction to seeing her son Kotaro beat Tenko out of my head. As painful as it must be seeing what her own son became, she kind of deserved and needed it.

I have to say, that I believe Montana's right. To me, Kaminari saying that actually proves he is an amazing friend. He found an issue that he had and put a feeling and words behind it. Now he can move forward and continue supporting Deku. Like he always has.

Wikipedia for the season says 11. It might technically be 12 if they make the episode a 2 parter. That's becoming more common with anime these days but all im seeing is 11. Rn where they are in the sub they just adapted up to chapter 426 of the manga on episode 9. They have 2 episodes to adapt 5 chapter, which isnt really hard considering the content of 3 of those chapters. The final episode might be an hour long so some sources might say 12 episodes even tho technically its 11

I feel the same. Imagine you're a 15/16 year old kid watching someone else your age go into such an awful, desperate fight. And then imagine they are your friend, someone you care about. It's much easier for a kid to put their full faith in an adult like All Might because kids are taught to let adults handle things like that, and obviously like Montana says All Might is also a celebrity and the number one hero, which only adds to the faith. I don't think Kaminari even has a lack of faith in Deku, I think he's just extremely scared, which he has every right to be. Because even in situations with near 100% chance of success we all tend to worry--like when someone has minor surgery, since you never know what can go wrong. In this sort of situation? I'd be frightened out of my mind.

I can’t imagine how utterly horrific it would be as Nana Shimura to watch her son beating Tenko. Also, the difference between All Might and Deku in this situation is that All Might is a PILLAR. When he arrives on the scene, you KNOW you’re safe. Deku is kind of spider-man-esque in the sense that he’s just a guy who happens to be a superhero. And especially now that he’s being pit against someone All Might almost definitely couldn’t beat, it’s easy for even Midoriya’s closest friends to be like ‘ i believe in you but like, this is SCARY ‘

Eri and Kota were so sweet this episode, but why are we getting interactions between them NOW?? Heck, this scene implies that they've already interacted, probably even become friends, but we didn't see ANY of it, and I was also weirded out by that. 🫤

Kenny, you also gotta realize we're watching this as viewers of a show where we can feel confident the plot will have deku win, so it's easier to be like "hell yeah, he's got this!" From that perspective. For kaminari, he's living in this world. All might, until his final fight with A4O, NEVER lost or failed to save people when he got on the scene. Like Montana said, there's a difference between that and personally knowing deku. While his abilities are truly insane, he's also watched his friend lose, get seriously hurt, almost to the point of losing use of his arms, full body cast etc. So I think a good portion of it is just insane amount of being worried for his friend, on top of shig is on another level of literal world ending threat. So, for you, it may come off weird he doesn't have total faith in deku...but when you consider the entirety of what has happened to them, it's not that crazy of a thought process really

I also see it as an example of the primary difference between the type of hero that All Might was compared to Deku. All Might was the kind of hero who once he came in, everyone from the heroes to civilians were basically able to say "alright, we're good, everything's going to be okay. He's got it". Deku is the type that inspires others to action, so Kaminari saying he doesn't have faith in him to me is also a way of him facing the decision of acting & fighting or running away.

True, and that's kinda to my point. Deku hasn't had a chance to tell the world "I am here" like all might wanted him to. Hell, I think this has all happened within a span of like, less than two years. So hes had so little chance to show his capabilities compared to all might who was the symbol for over a decade (again within so long a time with a pretty much perfect track record) so it's not that much of a stretch to expect everyone to have complete confidence in him compared to all might.

Mhmm, it's worth remembering that while OFA is a stockpiling quirk that gets stronger over time, Deku's only had it for one year out of at least a century and a half, and he still can't use *actual* 100%. His toolset is a lot more varied than All Might's, but in terms of raw strength Prime All Might is still probably ahead of him.

Something to keep in mind when consuming media: you cannot only look at things through your own, omniscient perspective. As the audience/reader, you're going to be privy to things most of the characters will not.

Exactly! Easy to "trust" deku from our perspective since we already got told by deku himself it's "the story about him becoming the greatest hero" so we kinda know the outcome.

The "problem" with All Might is he was a symbol. He wasnt a person. Very few people really knew All Might. Its very easy to envision a symbol never losing. But when you are friends and live with and know someone you cant view yhem as a symbol. Theyre a person. And people can lose.
