Palm has no regulation with her emotions, and she assumes the worst constantly unless re-assured by someone speaking unfalteringly and unhesitantly; her ability relies on cutting her wrists, so that she can observe some far away scene, quite on the nose. Being that Knuckle sandwich and Shoot McMan are shown to us as mirroring their teacher in some way, Palm must also be a mirror to Knov. Also, I'm sure Knov is quite aware of what he's doing when he speaks like that to her; he doesn't want to indulge her too much, but gives her some key words as a treat (and the english voice...doesn't communicate the intended knowingness like the original does).

I’m with you guys 110% on the Palm hate. These two episodes are the only ones I skip outright on rewatches. Idc if it’s comedic relief, the joke isn’t funny. Thankfully Togashi doesn’t linger on this bit for too long.

Palm is actually 22 and Gon is between 12 but 13-14 by the end of the ant Arc. I mean regardless of age Gon just wants palm to be happy and or not kill him plus he's always let someone be themselves let along how crazy or creepy they maybe. Just keep in mind of of how we first meet karapika and Leorio that's just how he is.

Palm is an overthinking, hard to control her emotions, and is crazy af and understandable hated, there's a lot of hated moments of her but looking at the whole of what Gon tried to do for her to be happy did help her and the punishment was expected because Gon doesn't wanna die he more than likely offered to do something else what was him doing what he was doing what was fine for him because he's letting her be herself to understand her more like how Leorio and karapika meet. But over all after knowing more about her and her powers with how crazy this ant Arc is it's a great power! I can't hate her as much but that's me

Yeah the creepy obsession was Gon was weird especially with the age gap between the two. But I mean her demeanor in general is that of someone who is extremely prone to violence and murderous intent but actually hasn't hurt any of our protagonist. She's actually harmless but gives the story a "threatening presence" with a lighter tone to our main characters while the other part of the story has murderous ants destroying everything in their path.

Me, personally, I always figured illumi put that pin in killua because he wanted to keep killua in check against himself and the rest of the family. Remember, they want him to stay in the family business of assassins. Then think back to the exam, where illumi was threatening to kill gon, and even then we see what was actually the pin at work because killua WANTED to stop him, but he was convinced his brother was stronger and thus couldn't even bring himself to fight him.

I love this episode so much. Killua has grown so much its so satisfying too see him finally free himself from his assassin self and become who he was meant to be, a hunter

It's always a big pet peeve of mine when shows bother to track time but then don't actually age up characters. It's one thing when serialized shows do it because they exist in a sort of nebulous time stasis, but HxH actually has definite time progression and we know more than a year has past due to the Hunter Exam reoccurring during Greed Island. So he is definitely 13 by now

It's a platonic, pre-romance, type of pairing. It also feels vicariously cathartic, when you never had the chance, growing up, to display any such emotion as a boy for another boy, to play doll with such soulmates as Killua and Gon, where you imagine scenarios where pre-romance begins to grow into romance. Also, Togashi knows what he's doing, even going so far as to use the term for a "lovers' suicide" later on.

Can we take time to appreciate how the ep we find out Illumi has been manipulating Killua, besides the usual grooming, is the ep we see Knov manipulating Palm. He legit calls her blood a precious resource and says only to use her power for him. The parallels aren't lost on me

Gon and Killua taking on pitou was based on their request like morel said, and definitely requested because of what they had turned kite into. We don't know much other the other two's powers but remember netero felt pitou's en (?) and thought they were stronger, so the other two should be around the same. But pitou's personality is also very sociopath-coded
