“Sera’s Confession,” the song Sera and the Speaker sing, is my second favorite song of the season. Patina Miller and Liz Callaway killed it. I like that the show acknowledges someone as powerful as Sera can be misled and wrong. Heaven isn’t infallible. Unfortunately, Sera’s in a position where mistakes have larger consequences.

I think the reason God doesn't do anything in this show is more of a Doylist one, which is that the plot would not be very interesting if divine intervention could solve everything

Link

It's kinda funny that Heaven is more of a prison than Hell was in a way.

BetterCallVee

Love your reactions and am excited for moreee! Also, little fun fact, the speaker of god is voiced by Liz Callaway, absolute legend, who also voiced Anastasia (e.g. she sang once upon a December ).

Marceline_mother

What an honor for you guys to respond to my question, you're just the best at everything you do

LuxLoser

The Speaker is the Metatron, the scribe of God. Vivzie has been very clear that God will NOT be in the story ever because she doesn't want the controversy that any depiction of God would bring. So she made the Speaker to say what God would say in a scene, but without needing to make it explicitly "Hello, Christians, Jews, and Muslims of the world, this is my portrayal of the most sacred being in your entire culture." No matter how respectful or nuanced, there would be an online shitstorm. But the Speaker is still technically an angel, rather than God Himself, and so can be without answers and be questioned for plot's sake

LuxLoser

No it's the toxicity of the Internet. Vivzie doesn't want to deal with the headache of portraying God and the inevitable backlash no matter how she does it. But the Speaker being not God does also allow for removing direct divine intervention! It was a good decision. Supernatural stepped on that grenade already lol

thevoidbender

Yessss so many star-studded singers in this show. Stephanie Beatriz (Mirabel from Encanto) as Vaggie was the one that surprised me the most but after learning who she was I was like oh yeah i def hear Mirabelle now. Fun fact, The Speaker of God VA does Jasmine's singing voice in the two sequel movies of Aladdin as well as the doing the singing voices of princess odette from swan princess & Anastasia from Anastasia (and is the main guy's overseas wife in the OG Broadway version of Miss Saigon).

"The Speaker of God" is a moniker the Jewish angel Metatron carries and is considered a direct second to God in a lot of cosmologies. Viv also confirmed she's the closest to seeing God in the series we'll get

JENIRD

You don’t need to react to it but I HIGHLY recommend it arching the BTS of Gravity with Jessica Vosk 🤩🤩🤩

HBelmont67

Was Beatriz not in season one? Also, I love how her singing voice sounds so different than the voice she does for Vaggie. She was also Kima from The Legend of Vox Machina.

HBelmont67

BTW, the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc movie is supposed to be coming to digital tomorrow, though I'm not sure what that means for streaming. I imagine it'll be a while till you decide to watch it, but it'd be cool if you posted questions in the meantime.

thevoidbender

She was but the only song I vividly remember her in was that duet with Carmilla and it felt like Carmilla kind of dominated in that song so I don't remember much about her voice from Season 1 because she was kind of in the background for everything she was in the whole time.

Mortis

The creator of the show has gone on record that they didn’t want to risk the controversy of actually depicting god and pissing off any groups so she decided to have god in the show essentially be a universal and all encompassing force of pure good rather than a physical being. God in this show still has some form of will that the speaker communicates to the rest of heaven but god isn’t gonna be directly interfering in the show

mantis toboggan

Not really a huge deal but I think there are a couple accidental skips? one earlier and one at 14:30. I don't think it's my internet?

Letts React

ooo def a rendering error will fix thanks!

Nightbat

Vivziepop has said before that Adam, the real Adam not the one in Lute's head, is not coming back.

Braden Jackson

I love how lute had absolutely no other view of Adam in her own mind he is still just an asshole 🤣

LuxLoser

Don't see anyone answering this, so I'll just add that Lute's arm 1) is a prosthetic after she lost her arm in the S1 finale, and 2) the "bracelet" is Adam's halo she recovered from the battlefield.

Michael

Pretty sure the murderer Pentious sees is supposed to be an alllusion to Jack the Ripper.

BriBoo95

I haven't seen anyone say this but pensious went to hell for the sin of sloth for not doing anything when he knew who the murderer was

SPARKLE

Any news on if you'll be reacting to the CSM movie?? 🫣🫣

devilish

Yesss I need this

Sam Cam

Sorry if you answered this question already will u be reacting to the chainsaw man movie it's out on streaming

HBelmont67

It's on digital, not streaming

Tyler Tim

We NEED that CSM movie reaction

Joseph

Fr I’m literally growing more impatient with every passing day

Joseph

Abel was like “I’ll come back later for that guitar.” Lol 😂

Jeffwitdacurls

I'm so surprised that you guys didn't catch this but the murder Pentious didn't stop was Jack the ripper. 1888 London, the fact Pentious knew he killed 5 more people ( meaning 6 total), and he was never caught.

Babybear47

Peter saying I watch the gate really well even though he's technically not watching the gate RN lol thought it was funny

KrakenKing

The Lute hate is so forced lol

Rinnzu Rosendale

I think the point is people can change, not that they were always secretly good or secretly bad. It wouldn't have to be a person who barely scraped by being evil in heaven cause they always were. A genuinely good hearted and kind, selfless person can become jaded and vengeful over time and justify evil things out of fear or hate. Just as a person who justified horrible things can see the error in their way and work to put good into the world instead. The entire concept of a final judgment is ridiculous if people can continue to change.

Riley

Omg did you guys know that Liz Callaway, the woman who sang Once Upon a December in Anastasia is the voice of The Speaker of God??
