Feitan is supposed to be the HxH equivalent of Chinese, he speaks in kind of a broken version of their language in the manga and in the 1999 adaptation but it's toned down in this adaptation.

I thought the same for a while, but there’s a reason he speaks like that which makes up for it. He speaks broken English (or Japanese in the sub) because his native language is Chinese. That’s why he was speaking with subtitles in the dub.

The Chinese part was obvious given the outfit but I didnt know that about the language. Like how would you convey speaking backwards in a manga? lol

In this part of the manga it displays what I believe is Chinese text alongside the translation, I think the backwards speaking is unique to the anime, but I could be wrong since it's been a while since I read this chapter.

Yeah I think that's the point though. More broadly I believe he is supposed to sound "foreign", so their interpretation of that for English was to make him speak very deliberately, like he's not quite comfortable speaking fluidly so speaks in short sentences and has to think for just a moment about each word he says. Whether that works for you is a different story. I assume the effect in Japanese is the same, to make him sound like a non-native speaker, just approached differently.

Widely accepted seems like a far stretch considering the evidence for it is basically "It would be a cool idea" and the evidence against it is basically everything we know about the Zoldyk family. Popular sure but widely accepted? Bold.

Yall forget that nobunaga basically told gon he wanted him to he a new member, WAY before he got nearly as strong as he is now. May well be kalluto (who i didn't realize was a boy this whole time lmao) was either recommended, or showed up and they thought "a zoldyck? Could have some potential" or something along those lines

Spoilers it makes tons more sense than her going after Killua, like how is she going after her brother when she boards the black whale? Or her lack of appearance when Killua does in fact return home later on

they dont know he is Zoldyck and why on earth would he tell that? They also didnt know that Killua was Zoldyck, there arent even any pictures of them anywhere so why would they know??

Do we KNOW that they dont know? Granted you could be right, this is just my own speculation more than anything. He could easily volunteer the info in an attempt to better his chances of getting into the troop. That's more of a stretch of course, considering the family occupation. But he is also still a child. As I said, this is all just speculation on my part. I could be completely wrong. 🤣🤷
