Mha was the first manga I read and it will always have a special place in my heart

Ksweets

my hero academia wasn’t technically my first anime, but it was the one that got me into anime. since watching mha since season 3 i’ve now also seen shows that people have constantly told me are better than mha, naruto, HxH, fmab, demon slayer, chainsaw man. and practically every shonen under the sun, but none of them every really held a candle to mha in my mind, not only anime, but my hero has now also gotten me into manga as well. thank you horikoshi sensei for years of diligent work. ps someone tell marketa shigiraki breaks me every time

Ksweets

and the guy in the prison is mr compress

Joseph

I get wanting Dabi to die I to want them to let him die but don’t forget he was a villain so he probably killed so many people, this could be his punishment for doing so

Chris Collier

I’m gonna miss this show, and I’m gonna miss your reactions to it.

Tyler

I found My Hero at a tough time in my life and it has always been my favorite manga/anime, so glad I discovered your channel because of it as well as two people who seem to love these characters as much as I do, look forward to the OVA reaction and anything else that comes in the future. Thanks for 181 amazing reactions!

MaSeshield9277

So happy this dropped right before I have to go into work

Limini

Dabi actually died shortly after last episode. The montage is a bit hard to undrstand but we see deku in highschool (with his shaved hair) before and kota/eri as little kids after, so timewise the dabi scene was in the near future from last episode. By now he should be truly dead and gone and out of his misery

Shiroi Kiba

A small detail you might not have seen is that both Gentle and La Brava are wearing gold rings, which means they have most likely gotten married.

Gastar805

I can't wait for when you guys start vigilantes. I really enjoyed it, and it's super fascinating considering it's place in the world imo. And season 2 is coming out literally next week if my memory isn't failing me.

Deiondre0

When All Might gave Deku the power suit, he said almost the same exact words as when he gave Deku One For All. These last few episodes were poetic in so many ways its truly beautiful

James Butterworth

Dabi did die, the scene with him and Endeavor is pre time skip. That’s why it is followed by seeing Kota and Eri as young kids still. The way they structured that portion mislead a few reactors

Suplee215

One thing that really brings the show together for me and made me elevate how I think of the show is the league of villains and realizing what they represent. Before I just saw it as a fun turn your brain off show and that is not saying its bad all. The opening woth the kid escaping and being helped really highlights the deeper meaning to me. The league of villains were each created due to a failure in society. And the show ends with showing how not just the characters but the society as a whole has changed for the better to prevent some of them.

Limini

tearing up when deku gets his suit is such a mood

Naruto Uzumaki

Also by the way dabi was dead in the timeskip the sequence u guys saw was backflash after the war/before the timeskip, if u notice endavor is still injured and in bandage wraps and they showed eri and kota as still kids. And also that was Mr. Compress reading the book not chisaki he didnt die and yes chisaki still doesnt have arms

GamerKing

I mean what is a fitting punishment for a criminal for torches people killing them, then succumbing to burn wounds caused by his own flame.

MrBulldog714

Alot of people get this wrong and it's not their fault, because of the editing it makes it seem like Dabi is still alive but no, he is gone. They go back in time again after Dekus first flash forward scene. They go back and forth in time during the episode.

GamerKing

The thing about dabi is for me it is a fitting fate for him. Let us not forget he is a criminal who has killed multiple people (who where innocent). An yes his backstory is a tragedy but much like shiggy, toga he still committed crimes and had to pay. But for me I personally see dabi a bitter but sweet one. He is finally given the love that he deserves. Which means after the timeskip he died knowing that his father not only regreted his actions and wanted to make amends. But he was giving the love he wanted as a kid so when he had passed he could die knowing he did matter and was not a failure.

HBelmont67

I mentioned this last episode, but I believe Best Jeanist is the de facto #1 Hero in Japan. 👖

Landon B

The dude in prison was just Compress himself lol

HBelmont67

Heck nah, Merry Go Round is NOT the worst MHA intro haha. That has to be Tagetame, the first OP in season seven. 😬

nic ˚୨୧⋆。

a few things - dabi did die shortly after the final war, but the way the episode is edited made it seem like he was still alive after the time skip. also, the man reading spinner's book in prison is compress, not chisaki. the final OVA will be out in march I believe, but I don't know if they'll dub it, as they usually don't dub OVAs. will you two still react to it if it isn't dubbed?

John Thule

Look I’m not gonna lie I think this is the worst anime ending I’ve ever seen including Yu Yu Hakusho. Genuinely My Hero had a major fall from grace starting after My Villain Academia and it’s tragic.

HBelmont67

We've actually seen Dai, the young man Deku inspired, before. At the end of season five, right before the PLF War Arc, he was about to start grade school. 🥲

HBelmont67

Noooo, they missed older Eri @ 16:42.

HBelmont67

Glad we've got MHA: Vigilantes returning next week. 😄

John Thule

Okay I guess. I did like My Hero for a lot of it.

Landon B

Also also, the "Our story continues on.." is a bit awkwardly phrased. I think it is just supposed to say that their story continues to move forward, like a final send off. I don't believe it was supposed to tease anything

Gestrid

That's not Chiseki. That's Mr. Compress. Last time we saw him was in season 6 episode 13, so it's no surprise you didn't recognize him at first.

Gestrid

By the way, we've actually seen Dai before. We met him all the way back at the end of season 5 as he was looking up at the All Might statue, back when he was on his way to his first day of school. And then we never saw him again until now. I only remember it because it stuck out to me, since we didn't see him at all in season 6.

Sprig Plantar

Season seven's first op is definitely in my top three, I think it's fantastic

Noboi

I low key like Merry go Round a lot lol

Noboi

Oh dang I was going to ask a question. Anyways, yeah, it's been one heck of a journey. A LOT has happened since the series started and since you guys started this series. Lots of emotions, disagreements, and moments of hype. Low key this is what got me into the channel alongside Owl House. I love this show despite its flaws and I doubt that will ever change.

Noboi

Tbf there are two announcements that we don't know about, but I doubt it's like, a sequel or anything.

Shynerdycactus

An amazing end to an amazing show! If there is one lesson that I’ve taken from this show, it’s the way that the most impactful change starts from the bottom up. I love All Might as a character, but it was truly fascinating watching my opinion of the society that formed under his no.1 status shift when I able to see its flaws. With him as such a powerful symbol, people really fell into the bystander effect, and although All Might tried his best (to the detriment of his own physical/mental health), he couldn’t be everywhere at once. People got lost in the cracks of that system. It really impacted me, seeing people rally with Deku, not just behind him. And they’re able to do so because they’ve seen him rise from the bottom, because he’s needed their help, because they saw him as a person before he became a symbol. It lets everyone come to terms with the true uncertainty of the world they live in instead of just false reassurance. Like Uraraka emphasized back at the end of season 6, heroes aren’t infallible, they’re just people trying their best. And now they are able to understand that for this peace to last, everyone has to pitch in. This show, for that reason, is part of what inspired me to study to become a social worker. At the end of the day, it’s up to me to help where I can, to not let my own fears or assumptions get in the way of lending a hand. I want to be a small part of changing this world from the bottom up, too.

Gestrid

The OVA comes out on May 2.

Gestrid

You mean the one sung by the same singer that sang Unravel from Tokyo Ghoul?

Gestrid

Dabi is actually dead. He died a few months after the ending of S8E9.

Blaster man1129

are you ever planning on watching MHA vigilantes? the second season is going to start in january

HBelmont67

The thing that sticks out about s7, Tagetame, is the vocals. You can bash the corny lyrics of Merry Go Round all you want, but at least they SOUND GOOD. Tagatame's vocals, on the other hand, hurt to listen to. 😖

HBelmont67

Next week, in fact 😁

HBelmont67

MHA has dubbed their more recent OVAs, so I'm sure this will get the same treatment.

kon miller

what a journey. bnha you will always be loved. can’t wait to start the next chapter with you guys! 🫶

HBelmont67

Considering Endeavor and Rei seem to look the same, I assumed it was pre-timeskip when I first saw it.

Renn.88

So the OVA does take place in the future, but it is canon. Its the final chapter of the manga. The regular series (this episode) only adapts up to the 2nd to last chapter. The new episode in May will adapt the actual final chapter

Mcdiddys

Brother seasons 6-8 have been absolute gas, what are you talking about 😭

Blaster man1129

Right, I thought it was like the fifth but I didn't remember

Renn.88

😂😂 We had to have one last dig at Merry Go Round. Bruh I love Kenny lmaooo That was compress, not chisaki.

Soup in Boots

And so ends one of the most well-composed narratives I have ever had the privilege of consuming. Every question the story asks is answered. Every character arc is completed in a way that serves the narrative. I do have some issues with some of the English translations. For instance, Uraraka comments to Izuku in the Japanese that "Deku" reminds her of the verb for "can" or "to be able to" (dekiru). In the Japanese version, everyone is shouting "you can do it", which feels like a full circle moment that the English translation misses out on. No blame though; I don't think the translators knew that was going to be such an important point way back in season 1 when Uraraka originally said it. Similarly, Bakugo's outburst in this episode is a bit harsher in the English version. In the Japanese version, he seems to be yelling at the civilian for being too close to the action and putting themselves in danger. I'll also note that this episode is a little funny around time. It's not clear, but I don't think Toya actually survived for terribly long. The scene we saw with him here was most likely within days to weeks after the final battle, as evidenced by endeavor still being bandaged head to toe (and I believe Rei is showing some of her injuries still too). All of this is me nitpicking, though. This is my #1 anime and manga of all time, and it might be my #1 story of all time too. I've enjoyed watching you guys enjoy it too!

LuxLoser

Hard disagree. S4 was a step down, S5 sucked, but S6, then S7, and now S8 have all been gas. Great fights, great animation, great character moments, and Deku becoming a teacher was a great career path for him, with him getting his suit to continue heroing. You're also not gonna find much support if you aren't going to explain what you find bad about seasons 6-8.

HBelmont67

You thought right 👍🏼

Jinchuriki87

Wow, the best jeanist disrespect is WILD 🤣🤣 Kidding...sorta lmao Also wild you bring up compress, while not realizing it WAS compress 🤣🤣 That aside, if you go back to when they showed grownup Kota, the kid who granny helped at the beginning was behind him!!! 😁

Jinchuriki87

But in all seriousness...absolutely LOVED yalls reactions to this incredible show!

Landon B

Maybe to you. I personally love the unique vocals.

DoobyMcGooby

finally someone agreeing that merry-go-round is so overhyped 😭😭

Robert

Great to see you're reaction to the finale of this also great series! It was awesome hearing your thoughts, and reactions, making me see things about the series and stories in general much more in depth and with a different angle and point of view. And I'm glad you two reacted to this story; but it's not over yet, there's still more... literally lol. The OVA, or rather the real final episode of season 8 is titled "More" adapting the final chapter of the manga. It comes out on May 2 next year.

Alejandro

Why would they have eri waste her power on a mass murderer?

HBelmont67

Why not? Season two of Vigilantes was already announced l, so it can't be that. I think a new series or project is in the cards.

Gestrid

To be clear, the final chapter of the manga came out months after the serialized manga was finished; it was included as a bonus chapter in the final volume of the manga. This next OVA is being marketed as "Episode 170+1". Not part of the main story, but not its own story, either.

Renn.88

The chapter is still Chapter 431. Its not a bonus Chapter. Its listed as a normal Chapter. It very much is part of the main story no matter how the animation studio markets it as. The only piece of manga that might not be canon and seperate is Chapter 431.5 which was only released in a databook

MrCaesar

Plans on watching the demon slayer movie?

Tyler Tim

The opening is such a banger!

Brahm Lindsey

Dabi did die btw that scene was a flashback

Brahm Lindsey

dabi is dead that was a flashback

Wisdom Abrahamson

The thing about iidas brother, is that his quirk is in his arms, if iida were to get the same injury and have the same recovery, he would essentially be quirkless

Isaac

Dabi is dead. That shot of him was just still in the past when they were all still in school.

rebillihp

i hope you go onto vigilantes this is a perfect time with season 2 just about to come out even.

HBelmont67

I honestly like it more than probably ALL of the MHA openings. 😎

HBelmont67

Man, seeing the "Letts Review" at the end with no indication of the next episode really hits home the fact that . . . it's over. There's no more My Hero Academia after this, not really. 😥

HBelmont67

It probably won't be available on digital or streaming for another month or two.

Joseph

Ngl was expecting Kenny to be wearing his all might shirt in this but he probably was under is sweater

Sprig Plantar

I've always thought that Black Clover's OPs are the best. Most of them have ended up on my playlists lol

HBelmont67

Fairy Tail also has some BANGERS 👆🏼

Natsuo Todoroki

To be fair I don’t see any reason why she wouldn’t do it. Plus they literally have Chisaki in custody too and he can do a very similar thing. I know the reason is just cuz the series wants Touya to die but yeah, major plot holes 😅 (Oh also if anyone says “why would they want to do this for a mass murderer,” keep in mind they were willing to set up this giant fancy torture machine to keep him alive for just a little bit longer, so like… yeah I could see it happening.)

Natsuo Todoroki

Honestly, this series is probably one of my favorites ever. At least, enough for me to base my entire online presence off of a side character who I relate to very heavily. 😅 Sad to see it end, but honestly, it’s a really good ending for the most part. I’ll definitely be sticking around for further series reactions since while I came for the MHA, I stayed for Kenny and Montana. I’m happy to have been on this journey, even with our extensive disagreements. 😅

HBelmont67

That's different. With Eri, we're talking about putting his body back to a state where he could potentially break out, something NO ONE wants. Another thing to remember is that Eri JUST used all of her stored energy to rewind Deku's arms a few minutes. By the time she recharged her horn, odds are Dabi would have passed on.

Saiyasha

Hawks is the new Leader of the HSCP the Organization he was an assasin for.

Saiyasha

I think the Granny is a really interesting conundrum. Her not helping was definitly one of the big moments that set SHigaraki down his path. The idea that she foisted off responsibility on the "heroes" who then never showed up made him hate a society that would abandon a child on the street for the blind belief that someone in charge would take care of it. But lets for one moment imagine she had stopped that day. With what we know now, AFO would have most certainly killed her, maybe made it look like she abandoned Shigaraki, who knows. But you also have to wonder: Would that little act of kindness still have been a seed? Would it have changed Shigaraki's trajectory in any way shape or form? It's completly up for speculation, but it is a fascinating "What if" scenario

Joseph

If there’s a poll for what is going to replace mha I hope To be hero x is on there because it is one of the best anime that mixes 2d and 3d animation I doubt it will get picked don’t think it’s much popular with people on here

Saiyasha

It's such a blink and you miss it moemnt, but: When Koda opens the door The Kid that walks behind him _is the one that had the stitches in his face from teh beginning._ He not only got help, but he's now training to be a hero!

Saiyasha

The one reading Spinners book isn't Overhaul, though I thoght so too at first, it's compress. It#s just that we see his face so little and he's so unbelievably non-distinct that it doesn't register XD

Saiyasha

I love that the Bakugo/Monoma sort-of-maybe-friendship/rivalry has been kind of confirmed by them breaking through the wall together, since it at te very least meant Bakugo let him copy his quirk: The fandom loves giving those two a "We still kinda don't like each other, but seeing your classmate die brutally on the battlefield kinda re-evaluates your worldview and now we just rile each other up for fun" relationship

Natsuo Todoroki

It’s never really confirmed when he died or what his death was even like. I think Horikoshi said it was a few months in an interview, but I’ve heard some people say that he said it was a whole year or a few weeks. Regardless… yeah I’m happy he at least got to get out of that situation.

Natsuo Todoroki

I mean… I wouldn’t say he would be in any position to break out since he’s still in Tartarus. Plus, to be fair, Eri’s overall timeline of power usage is pretty hard to figure out, and considering that we also have no confirmation of how long Touya lasted, I’d say it can go either way. Like, he would only have to be rewinded a few months at most.

Eric C

What a damn journey. What else can I really say? It was awesome to experience your reactions through this series! Can't wait for the OVA in May!

Thiivi

I'm pretty sure the Dabi scene was before the time skip. Endeavor was still covered in bandages. I think they were just showing that he kept his promise and came to visit him everyday.

Natsuo Todoroki

Yeah, it’s not confirmed how long Touya lasted. I remember Horikoshi saying it was a few months, but I’ve seen others say a few weeks or a year. Regardless I’m at least happy he’s out of that nightmare now. At least Endeavor got to perform another minimal act of atonement by visiting his dying son though. /hj

Shaoix

I loved seeing him there

Eiríkur Eiríksson

Let's just pretend that Vigilantes is still a part of the MHA reactions so you can release episode 1 next tuesday. At least the first ep.

Jinchuriki87

If you're a fan of FMAB, and haven't checked it out already...Definitely give their reactions to that a watch! (Among the numerous other shows they've done)

Jinchuriki87

Random afterthought: without spoilers, do we know if eri went into UA/hero course for school? I realized we never saw (unless I missed it) her in a uniform. Just her doing music related stuff. Which is a beautiful touch that the thing that broke her from chisaki was the concert, and thus music became her passion! Which then got me thinking, is there some information about the idea of someone becoming a hero who DIDNT attend a hero course school? Like, what would the process be for that? 🤷🤣

Logan Clark

I believe the shot in prison that you thought was Chisaki was actually Compress

HBelmont67

Don't let Montana catch you saying that. 😂

HBelmont67

Only problem is that the majority of their FMAB reactions got blocked on YouTube. ☹️

Robert

Aahhhh so thats what happend, i tried checking it out the other day and was confused, thats a shame

Sickness

You guys just completely confused overhaul and Mr compress

Sickness

And you literally mention Mr Compress right when you get confused about him lol

Sickness

That is why he is reading the book. Overhaul wouldn't care about spinners book that he wrote.

Sickness

I think Kenny got spoiled on Deku getting the mech suit. Its too out of nowhere for him to say that as a full on theory. Just what I am thinking. Maybe not spoiled entirely but hinted through somewhere to make him think that.

Mekar

I think the best lesson from My Hero Academia is not to let your past define you. The break between the villains and heroes was usually along that line, shown most specifically in Shoto/Dabi and Shoji/Spinner. All For One also believed that he could control people be extrapolating from their trauma. The foils in his plan were the heroes who didn't let their past control them. Deku and Shoto summed it up best with "It's your quirk, not his" and "Our family was a nightmare. Even so, you're the one who chose to burn people." The second best lesson imo is simpler and comes from the second season. During the Obstacle Course and Cavalry Battle, All Might is worried about Deku's good nature keeping him from competing for the top spot. All Might's worries turn out to be unfounded, but it was a great lesson to include. It immediately reminded me of 1 Corinthians 9:24 from The Bible. "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." It's important to always give it your best.

Knov or Morel

I think you guys missed it, but @16:45 we see grown up Eri laughing and smiling with 2 friends and they all have musical instruments

Knov or Morel

Hilarious that the rules of a timeskip are 1. everyone with short hair grew it out and 2. everyone with long hair cut it

Knov or Morel

it feels great to weep tears of joy right before work hahaha

Knov or Morel

Could you please explain what about Natsuo you resonate with? also same, this show and hunter x hunter are top 3 (leaving 3 open for something new)

Kiribukai

Oh my gosh, I’m gonna cry 😭 I can’t believe it’s over! I have loved y’all’s MHA reactions since you started on YouTube more than 2 years ago! So thanks for all the shared laughs and tears we all got to experienced with this anime! I loved the ending for this! I absolutely adore that Deku is teaching at UA and is also able to fight by his friend’s side with his suit! I think it’s the perfect wrap up for this journey! ❤️ I also feel so honored that my question was the last one, I actually teared up 🥹 love you guys and everyone in this community!

Kiribukai

Same!! I thought that moment was so wholesome 🥹

Kiribukai

Same! He’s the best! 😭 he will always have permanent spot in my top 3 favorite characters of all time! I’m going to miss him so much 😭 I know it’s a stretch, but I just hope one day maybe we get one last movie of them as pro heroes 🧡

HBelmont67

If you loved MHA's power system, I would recommend another series called Undead Unluck. The way the show executes certain well-known superpowers is genuinely unique and creative, and is displayed with AMAZING animation.

JoeMyGodGaming

I don't know if anyone has said it but the Dabi scene took place 8 years ago he is mostly dead after the 8 year time skip. they were doing a lot of bouncing around but after that scene you see young Kota again showing that it was still 8 years ago.

Erin Ryan

I know Kenny loved this show because of the go beyond moments and because its great for working out, so I reccomend Gurren Lagann!! Prob won't be able to see it on your channel so please watch it on your own its amazing and very simular vibes to MHA

Sickness

I don't think they quite understood the dabi ending. It wasn't just to "have them agree on food they liked". It was about Dabi and Endeavor having time together before his death and trying to create a somewhat decent resolution to their dynamic.

Sickness

Or maybe he just has future story reading powers

Gody kagayo

For me I think all might is my favourite but kirishima is a close second

Saiyasha

Wish I could say I caught it on my own, but I had to have it pointed out to me as well, now I'm just sharing it around, because I think it's such a cool, but easily missable detail

eliana

Dabi didn’t survive. What we saw was still before the 8 year time skip. Right after they even showed kota and eri still the same age and aizawa and present mic at the grave of shirakumo where aizawa didn’t have the new haircut. It was said that Dabi was sure to die within the same month after the war, because he was scorching from the inside

Knov or Morel

it's called MetaGaming. Through watching the reactions and discussions on multiple shows with them, I can tell Kenny is just good at reading story beats that tend to show and repeat themselves. He has the mind of a writer and can see where other writers are going when they set something up. You definitely know people who will watch a movie or a show and have a feeling that something is coming up, and they end up being correct. It seems like the only options you are willing to conceive of are negative assumptions here hahah, he must be dishonest, or he has powers, when the realistic answer is that he is just more observant

Knov or Morel

Montana explained it so well I realized I agree, on balance, Shoto is absolutely the best character

Tyler Tim

I'm honestly suprised no one has mentioned gachiakuta as something they should watch, especially since it's animated by studio bones I think, though it can get pretty gross at times😄

Babybear47

Not going to lie it confused me to but then I was like nah he has arms

Blaster man1129

I mean we see all might get a mech suit to battle afo and when the idea of deku losing ofa is proposed the most likely next step in letting him continue being a hero would be to do the same thing all might did

HBelmont67

The shots of all of Class 1-A grown up at 23:46 mirrors the first opening. 🥲

HBelmont67

Season two of MHA: Vigilantes has started airing!

HBelmont67

What's your beef with Jeanist all of a sudden haha?

HBelmont67

If we get a movie set post timeskip, maybe we can get some honest-to goodness relationships explored now that they're all adults. 🙏🏼😂

DavidEatsGlue

did you have to double the amount it cost to see stuff early:(
