Was litterally about to check the app for if the video posted when the notification came up. Been waiting for this reaction (and next weeks).

Cat heaven at the beginning. I swear yall got the sweetest most well behaved cats (at least on camera) I only have demons 😭😂

Mortis

Guys 99% of heaven didn’t know the extermination was happening and even now 96% still don’t know bout it. Edit: they already to,d us in episode 2 that pentious can’t leave heaven. That’s why their gonna try to broadcast him

Ryan

Just to point it out, Vox couldn't even die on his own. His cult were all standing with him in a pool. Everyone in that room with him, got electrocuted too. Yikes. And to clarify on Alastor, his deal with Rosie was a springboard for him to have a headstart to get more powerful "to continue his fun." So yes he got a huge boost, but the only tether Alastor has, is that he has to follow Rosie's orders until his side of the deal is done. He's had decades since to build himself up in hell

Letts React

It’s a new track by our composer Carter Sanders, called Letts Be a Hero, and I thought it fit the epic ending to this season! So glad you like it!

I think you're onto something with the "second heaven" idea. Or at least something similiar. Theres no reason hell needs to be as bad as it is. And while we don't see it often, I think Angel Dust lives closer to yhe normal resident of hell than most others with the exploitation and constant torture/pain. But I do think hell can be made better to where people wont want to go to heaven and I think that will be how the show ends. There are some sinners that are clearly evil like the Vees (at least 2 of them) and Alastor and some others. But they can be handled with taking away their power or some sort of prison. While those who want redemption can be given the resources they need to change for the better and those who just want to continue living in hell like Husk without the abusing nature of hell we see can. And I think we see a key aspect with Baxter to how redemption can happen. No one pressured him to be a good person, but they made his life easier and he is willing to help them because of it. That is honestly a great point and inthink making hell better can have a major ripple effect.

the val part of the last song is def supposed to be morbidly funny. a horrible abusive pimp singing like a disney princess is a silly contrast

Thanks for reading my question! Something I wish the show had gone into more is Alastor’s motivation for killing and its ties to his race and the time period he grew up in. He’s obviously killing people and making deals with demons while he’s alive because he loves having power and control over others, two things he lacks in every other circumstance. Vox is a talentless leech who killed to be the center of attention and stole the style and mannerisms of his victims, and Alastor managed to succeed despite the challenges with nothing but talent. I liked this dynamic a lot this season. I could right a dissertation on them.

Can’t wait till next Monday! So hyped

David Garcia

Not trying to instigate anything, but what does his race have to do with with his murders? He was just a serial killer that happened to be a radio host in New Orleans

jellybrigades

There’s an implication that Alastor’s victims were mainly white men who disrespected him, like the man who spilled wine on him intentionally. My interpretation of his motivation for his killings is that he forcibly creates a situation where he’s the one with power.

Joseph

I love that Vaggie still doesn’t like Emily holding hands with Charlie lol like Emily ain’t gon steal Charlie from her I don’t even think she swings that way

Brighter is probably one of my favorite songs this season, but the more I listen to Live to Live the more I like it, from a story perspective it makes sense that Sera, an immortal seraphim that's never experienced human life, wouldn't inherently understand the humans' perspective. Pentious also states in the song that there's more to redemption than just acting against your sin, you have to really mean what you're doing and want to change. With that in mind I don't think a person like Vox could ever game the system and pretend he's righteous just to get to heaven.

Nightbat

They CAN’T bring Pentious over. It’s not physically possible. Emily said so in the second episode.

David Garcia

That just seems like quite a lot of stretching for what was shown. But to each their own I guess

Pugz

Did someone say heated rivalry 👀😂

Phoenix_mercury

So many people seem to(somewhat understandably) take it to assume he can't as in by himself or he's he's not allowed which tbf we haven't(yet) got any info on what "can't" means tho I'm assuming it's a literal bcz he's a winner(same as how sinners can't leave the pride ring)

Phoenix_mercury

Not really, Al was a poc with a white man more than happy to be spilling red white onto white clothing(the man notices, laughs and continues to do so), during the time period Al lived it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that that kind of treatment(and others similar) wasn't exactly uncommon

Phoenix_mercury

Wdym by "at least two of them"? None of them are good people in the slightest

Eric Brown

Fun fact, Brighter is the first song in the entire series that you can get through the entire way without there being any swearing prior to the end of the song. So basically, the first swearing of this episode happens after Brighter.

There isnt enough information on velvette yet for me to claim one way or another about her. Vox? Unrepentant and never going change and will always be bad for society. Valentino? Very similiar although mogjt be easier to keep him in check but the exploiting snd abuse hes doing to others is to the extreme. Velvette? I dont know. She is currently evil and doing bad things but we havent seen a motive and we havent seen her he as bad a Valentino. Which is a low bar but yea. Its possible she just adapted to survive in hell. Or she's as bad as the other 2. We just dont know. I also never claimed the 3rd is good. Just that theyre so bad theh need to be removed from society to protect it forever. Basically worthy of etertinity n prison as opposed to 50 or 500 years

i think the sentiment “that he just happened to be in new orleans” is a really reductive way to engage with storytelling. unlike real life, where people sometimes make subconscious decisions that don’t mean anything more than what they are, this is a story with intentional execution of detail. why did the showrunner make alastor biracial? why did she make him into african mysticism? why did she put him in new orleans, notorious for its history in racial segregation and discord? these are all intentional conscious decisions she and the writers made, and to act like someone is “reaching” because they recognise it is reductive and slightly ignorant. but to each their own i suppose

Michael Flynn

Alastor does seem to care about being respected given his reaction to Lucifer taunting him in episode 4 and his reaction to Husk in season 1 episode 5 and since he's from the 20s/30s he would've had to endure a lot of shit from white people I'd argue it's not a huge stretch. His victims were likely people who disrespected him.

kon miller

i mean no real harm when i say this, but there’s this weird phenomenon where certain people see and hear the word “race” and it staggers and incapacitates them. granted there’s a different conversation to be had about whether vivziepop depicted these ideas about alastor competently, and i’d argue no, but when you don’t try to engage with media for fear of confronting whatever internal biases you may have, it results in this weird denial or burying-your-head-in-sand mentality that reduces intentional storytelling to “vibes” and “coincidences” which i feel does a disservice to it.

David Garcia

When I said happens to be, it’s meant as “coincidentally is also”, not “is just only” . In the room where Al does the summoning ritual, I count about 6 noticeable piles of mush which I’m presuming to be corpses. One of them very notably seems to be an animal corpse, since there is a very non-human skull decomposing on the top of it. Serial killers are known to be violent towards animals, Al is a radio show host in New Orleans. I’m sorry that I don’t see the race tie in, I will do better to assume characters are just race haters in the future.

David Garcia

Also for what it’s worth I said it was a stretch, not reaching

smajdalf

I don't think it's ever explicitly said why they can't bring him over, only that they can't. Emily in episode 2 says he can't go back to Hell, and Sera in episode 5 apologized that they can't bring him with them. That could be because of some metaphysical barrier preventing souls from leaving (likely), or because as Lucifer says "Heaven has rules! Lots of rules!". I wouldn't mind the option B tbh, I always find the concept of lawful beings not being able and/or willing to break their own sacred laws no matter what, even if it's to their own detriment, fascinating.

Callum Ringsy

Why is everyone always so concerning about the swearing? Even in this minor extent, I just don't know why people feel the need to focus on it.

Callum Ringsy

That's just what they believe to be true as of now. As Emily said in Like You, he's a completely new thing unlike anyone else in Heaven. Perhaps Pentious will be able to cross back and forth one day, who knows. Hopefully we find out.
