The “snakes shed their skin and stay the same” was a cool observation that I didn’t consider before. Because yeah, despite Thorfinn and Snake apparently having experience as fighters, Thorfinn came out the other end willing to dream of a peaceful future while snake just seems more entrenched in his cynicism

Daniel FJ

I love the deep conversations we get in VS. Hearing Thorfinn actually talk about his growth, development and dreams feels so refreshing and organic. If you're interested, episodes 16 & 17 are a very double-drop worthy pair (22 & 23 as well).

mal

these next 2 episodes are about to be crazy

Lyrical Kell of Music

Off topic but does anyone know if JJK has a confirmed start to its dub ?

HBelmont67

Well, most English dubs tend to have around a two-week long wait, so maybe the 22nd. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lyrical Kell of Music

Okay that’s what I was assuming but other than start dates seems like anime hates giving out exact dates 😂

Kevin Crisantos

You need to watch the next 2 episodes together!

Casey Turner

I’d recommend doing the next 2 together! And 22-23, they are very much duo episodes

KT

You should do 16 and 17 together

That analysis of snake by Montana is really interesting and fascinating, I never read snake that way. Just wow!

Elsa

You seem to be very sympathetic toward Gardar, why is that? As Arnheid said, "he has become the storm itself." His begging Arnheid to release him strikes me as a intent to manipulate and control. He's no different from the guests he killed, why do you favor him so heavily over the guests?

Letts React

BRO what?! He was forced into slavery and escaped to find his wife, thats ENTIRELY different than the mercenaries he killed.

Elsa

He wasn't entirely forced into slavery—unlike Einar, he chose to conquest , to kill, and he lost. Becoming a slave was the consequence of his actions, and in this respect, he is not innocent. I think the author deliberately portrayed him as actively attacking anyone who tried to pursue him, revealing his state of mind (it was Gadar who struck first when killing the lizard). Moreover, facing the wife who come to heal his wounds, he showed no consideration for her whatsoever, forcing her into an impossible position—either bear the guilt and flee with him, or watch him die while possibly facing punishment from her master. This is profoundly selfish and arrogant. I don't see a man willing to take responsibility for his mistakes; I see a wounded, maddened beast that I want to run away from. Even if she still loved him, Alhena is definitely terrified of him “he has become the strom itself”.

Ekko

Is this a troll? One is a slave put through extreme abuse, the others are slavers doing the abusing. What exactly do you mean he’s no different? And you’re giving Gardar too much credit by calling him manipulative. He’s broken physically and mentally acting on pure instinct

Elsa

Long yapping, if you had the patience to read through it all, thank you very much. I'm not trying to criticize you or anything like that; I just think that the idea that Gadar and Arnheid escaping together would necessarily be a good ending is not certain. The lives of the five guests also deserve some respect and compassion.

Elsa

So we are not taking personal responsibility for his decision to go to war then. Guests are not slave owner by the way, they are guards or mercenary, They are not necessarily evil or guilty. Do they really have to include a sympathetic background story to be considered life? Emotion manipulation can be subconscious behavior, it's very common in relationships, "why don't you buy me this thing, don't you love me anymore?"

Sam Cam

Ya and regrets it

Sam Cam

Will the next two episodes be a double drop ?

Elsa

ya and not now

TheKraufen

In a way I agree in that I can understand for example why Snake is angry and wants him killed. He's just some guy who showed up and killed multiple of his men. I do think Gardar is sympathy. I'm that he was somewhat forced into slavery and I can understand why a slave wants to run away. I think both perspectives are fine. I don't think snakes men deserves to die, I also don't think Gardar or any of the slaves should be slaves and it's understandable that he would do what he did.
