Ezra Margot

Definitely didn't expect this this early in the morning, but glad it's here! And loving the new setup. It looks great!

Port34

Technically not even morning yet where they are now.

dannydarko27

11pm for me so this was posted around 10 at night my time lol

dannydarko27

Ayee the new set up is looking nice To answer your question I think the blue light was such a vibe

dannydarko27

A big difference between campaign 2 and this show is that the Orphan Maker was actually part of the carnival when we met her. Speaking of the carnival in the game, the devil toad was actually pretending to be lizardfolk; but when found out to be evil, started blackmailing Gustov to bring him people to eat. Also Caleb and Nott had met in prison and escaped together approximately 5 to 6 months prior to meeting the rest of the group, so they cared about each other more than the rest

zzsaturn

It’s funny, The Gentleman is a water genasi, so it became a running gag in the campaign to mistake the moisture on his face for him being sweaty. Also the interesting thing about Fjord’s situation here is that his patron isn’t necessarily controlling him, just giving him orders, yet Fjord’s first instinct is still to do what it says because being defined by everyone else is so ingrained into his mind. Hell, he’s speaking in another man’s voice on a daily basis because he’s not confident enough to be himself. (And PS: the new setup looks awesome!)

StorytellerDave

"Fun?" fact - Regarding the vultures following the Orphanmaker around, there's actually recorded phenomena of crows following armies because they knew eventually a battle would happen and it'd be a big feast for them.

Edda

lmao regarding “Trent Dickithon” there was a running joke in the campaign of calling him “Trent Icky-Thong”

Edda

Set up is amazing! The blue light was the better vibe!

HBelmont67

Yup, still love the new set-up. 😁👍🏼 Though, I would keep the light.

HBelmont67

"Wizard ninjas" is such a funny, yet perfect way to describe the Volstruckers. 😂

Marceline_mother

Both of your minds are in the gutter. Wdym, your first thought was "they banged"

StorytellerDave

Next episode is one of my favourites tbh, so hyped for it.

StorytellerDave

In their defense, you can't just put the guy that's constantly shown having sex or thinking of/alluding to sex or flirting all the time with a giant cat lady and not have people think they fucked.

HBelmont67

Forreal, it's MOLLY. 💜😂

Schlong Shucker

The volstruckers lowk sound like viltrumites from the way dairon talks about them

wanira 11

Volture lady is a barbarian by the way :)

Suplee215

Anger of rage can be shown in many different ways. A control anger of getting things done is not uncommon. Yasha Is a barbarian.

HBelmont67

Seeing Beau and Caleb at each other's throats this whole episode is weird when you compare them to their Vox Machina counterparts, Keyleth and Vax.

Suplee215

Wizards are also squishy because they got 1d6 hit points. In comparison, druids and rogues got 1d8, fighters got 1d10 and barbarians got 1d12.

Ezra Margot

Okay? I'm aware people live in different time zones. For me, it was in the AM, so for me it was early in the beginning of the day when this was posted

HBelmont67

Even if we'd have to wait till after Invincible season four or longer, I would still prefer to keep Castlevania on the western slot than have it potentially take one from Dr Stone on Wednesdays or Fridays. 🙏🏼

Geese

Glad you guys are still enjoying the show! One thing I like about mighty nein as compared to Vox is the inner party tension towards the beginning. All of them are super dysfunctional people who are maladapted to the world in completely different ways for completely different reasons, so it makes sense that they would clash and argue a decent amount. I do like that this episode shows that even though some of them don't get along right now, they will still show up for each other when it matters and I think that lays a really strong foundation for future character relationships to evolve and grow into something like we see in the later seasons of Vox, where they have total trust in each other and are truly like a family. Also, spells cast this episode(sorry if I miss any): Cure Wounds(Jester), Hold Person(Vess), Shadowblade(The Volstruckers), See Invisibility or Detect Magic(Caleb), Alarm(Caleb), Misty Step(Fjord), Scrying(Astrid), Maybe some amplified version of Reverse Gravity(Trent), Dimension door(Essek), Teleport(Essek), Fire bolt(Caleb), Cure Wounds?(Trent). Also, fun fact, Nydas was a player character in a prequel mini series campaign that Critical Role did called Calamity and he was played by the ever talented Lou Wilson, who also voices him in this show.

Erin Ryan

The aura of having vultures follow you because of the bodies you leave in your wake is insane

HBelmont67

I'm not sure Yasha's lack of rage in the opening scene is a very reliable indicator of her class, since she's being controlled. Seems like a barbarian to me.

HBelmont67

Agreed. It's so homey. ☺️

Erin Ryan

Nott freed her foot by the time beau pushed her out of the way

HBelmont67

"This is what Ururaka could do if she was evil." You mean, exactly what Toga did when she had her Quirk? 😬

HBelmont67

I agree, though I felt like a bit of the conflict in this episode was kinda forced.

HBelmont67

I would pay money to see Yasha fight Grog, even if just a friendly spar. 😁

KomoUpNorth

In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

LuxLoser

That should have been more obvious. I also though Caleb was being stupid af until rewatch. Nott did indeed need no help

StorytellerDave

It's a real think, just with smarter birds (corvids) and not single people. Yasha has the aura of an entire army.

HBelmont67

A lot of the conflict within the group felt very forced this episode ngl

StorytellerDave

There was a lot of intra party conflict early on in the campaign too. Fjord threatened Caleb, so did Molly about 'skimming off the top'. I don't remember Beau being super suspicious, but that's mainly bc Caleb was honest with her and told her his story early on and nobody else. Nott also continued the grand tradition of stealing from guest characters

HBelmont67

Nott's face as Jester heals her after getting shot in the butt is so funny and cute. 😂

Revin MacGrath

The Gentleman is a Water Genasi, which is why he's always dripping.

HBelmont67

"His kids are gonna find out how she got her name" is CRAZY, Montana. 🤣🤣 Also, all things considered, she handled seeing what Yasha did to that horse better than expected. 🐎

AuroraZero_

Fun fact, Nydas Okiro has been referenced vaguely before 👀 in Vox Machina, when Pike asks Zerxus (the devil in hell) about his past he mentions the Brass Circle and it shows 4 faces, Nydas is one of them!

HBelmont67

Gentleman, to Molly: "Dude, you have a secret harem?"

AuroraZero_

Oh you asked my question! 💜 haha I will say as a quick point, we did see in episode 2 the 'real' Fjord, who was very cowardice, his captain mentions he needs more confidence, he run away and didnt help that kid being beat up in the alley, he was constantly not trying to fight and give up but Jester would just pull him along! The rest of the group has only seen the TexBlade persona he puts on (hes a hexblade warlock, with a Texas accent, so that was a common joke towards him) so it is less his patron controlling him and more him being used to following orders, and running away! But I do love that Montana brought up that first thought, second thought analogy bc i love that one and I do fully think it fits Fjord very fittingly 💜

JustCallMePurple

And blue, there’s water elemental in his jeans ;) yah yah I know

JustCallMePurple

Fun fact: Nott had a game mechanic of booziness. Drunk = immune to fear. BUT disadvantage on certain things.

HamboneKablooey

The Gentleman is 'sweaty' because he's a Water Genasi, basically half water genie, so in the campaign he was described as always looking slightly damp.

DJ Bullington

Overall, I love the new set so much. The brickwork behind you is really nice. I do prefer the more blue-purple lighting over the tan/natural lighting. Happy the move is going well so far and can't wait to see more reactions when you all get your rest first!

drew

I love the new background! But it’s not let’s react without the purple blue lighting!!

HBelmont67

We not getting episode three on YouTube today?

Robert Bonfante

I love the shows but I'm intimidated by the timescale of the actual Critical Roll episodes, so I haven't watched them. But I wonder how close the dialogue in this episode was to what was on their streams, Also, I've watched this episode at least a dozen times and never saw Nott freeing her foot. I don't doubt she did but it's very blink and you miss. Caleb also said Beau could help. Not that I think Beau is much better when it comes to trustworthiness but I'm Team Beau in this episode. TBF, having played D&D several times, it generally takes my characters a while to trust anybody. I wouldn't trust anyone in this group in this early stage if Beau was my character.

Chantal Beausoleil

Yasha is a confirmed barbarian, but not gonna tell you the subclass, cause that could give too much context or information not yet revealed in the animated show. Ps: love the new background, very studio like! I do prefer with the blue and purple light over the "normal" warmer light.

cryptc

and the reputation comes from even older versions of D&D where wizards had 1d4 hit points, and were likely to lose in a one-on-one with their own familiars.

demonic-myst

No swuisby is a wizards heal Th the mage armor spell oit preforms many armores
