Lyrical Kell of Music

Such a good episode, in just a few minutes they are able to really drive home the horrors of the virus and the music is top tier

VVenture

7:00 If you go back to season 1 and watch how Nolan trains Mark, as harsh as he was, this really makes you realise just how ‘soft’ Nolan was being with Mark compared to his hundreds of years of training other children on Viltrum (and how he was trained himself.) Earth really did a number on his programming, even if it’s near impossible to tell from his actions in season 1.

A huge change from the comics in this episode that has a huge domino effect

Erin Ryan

I love this episode so much honestly top 5 in the series for me

Erin Ryan

Hahaha I can't with you guys thinking the title screen is an egg. Its viltrum colors breaking into outer space

HBelmont67

It's a good thing Nolan seems to take after his dad more than his mom, cause he seemed to be actually impressed with his strength while she straight up just wanted to kill him. 😧

HBelmont67

It'll become more apparent the more episodes are released lol.

HBelmont67

The ring around Viltrum being made up of dead Viltrumites is one of the most haunting, yet coolest visuals in the show. 🥶

HBelmont67

The gag with Nolan on the couch never got old. 🤣 Also, proof that Nolan has changed given that he didn't take off the Captain's head once he learned there were more rooms haha.

Geese

This episode is really cool cause we didn't really get to see young Nolan in the comics and I think(?) this episode is also the only time we get to see any of the Scourge when it hit viltrum back when it did, cause I've read most of the comics and I don't think they ever showed how bad it was they just kinda talked about it. Showing it was infinitely more horrifying though, but man was it done brilliantly. One of my favorite episodes of the whole show tbh.

Port34

Really puts his comment about how it may have been better if he never got his powers into perspective as well.

Erin Ryan

Biological warefare is so terrifying and Invincible did amazing showing the horror of it. The music and the bodies apon bodies carelessly dumped is chilling

Reaper88

I just think it is so interesting that though these first few seasons we've talked about how similar human and viltrumite dna is so similar...makes me worried about this"virus" as in stories you don't introduce a "cure all" without side effects...

Lee Pace is great in the show "Foundation" as Brother Day of the Cleonic dynasty and I am pretty sure he was picked for this role of Thragg based specifically how he acted in that show. If you want to see his acting range and his ability to play many versions of a galactic tyrant I would recommend watching it. In it he plays the middle third of a ruling triumverant of different aged clones of himself named Dawn, Day, and Dusk and as the story progresses you see different Brother Dawns as the generations pass and it really shows his subtle acting prowess as he characterizes the different clones through time.

Juan Solo

It's like I said before in their S1 finale vid, Nolan subconsciously didn't want Mark to develop powers because it meant revealing the truth to both him and Debbie and breaking their hearts. Now with the context of this episode, Nolan never wanted Mark to get powers because it also would've meant subjecting him to the cruel life that comes with being a viltrumite. It explains why he raised him so differently from his own childhood.

Juan Solo

True, Nolan could've express delivered the Captain's head back to Talescria with that pillow if he really wanted to. 😆😅

HBelmont67

No one would have really blamed him, either. He was sleep-deprived, and that dude was incompetent, anyway. 😂

Juan Solo

I definitely got flashbacks to Nolan pummeling Mark in the S1 finale.

HBelmont67

Definitely an intentional callback, though unlike his mom, Nolan stopped himself. 😓

Phantom Egg

I think Montana is right that Nolan would probably stay if Mark didn't get his powers. I believe the implication of Nolan's "I don't know" is that he would likely want live out his life with Debbie and Mark if Mark didn't get powers. Viltrumites live for thousands of years so stalling his mission to live out the family life he actually loved is possible before likely moving on after they passed. Remember in S1 that Nolan wasn't ecstatic about Mark getting his powers. It was more like a reluctant acknowledgement that now he has to continue his mission rather than continue on as a family man.

HBelmont67

People meme Nolan's "Are you sure?" response to training Mark all the time, but that line is VERY telling to his character's inner turmoil. He REALLY didn't want to do this.

Erin Ryan

I agree especially because Nolan said it would've been better mark never got his powers

Erin Ryan

I never heard of him but I love him already. The way he says " don't make me ask you twice" so calmly almost gently but it's so intimidating still

HBelmont67

The new Scourge virus may indeed be what makes Mark "sick" later, but I have a different theory. We know this episode that Nolan himself contracted the original virus. He may have gotten better, but there may have been some lingering effects that could've been passed down from father to son. 🤔

HBelmont67

He played the villain Ronan the Accuser in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as Legolas' dad in the Hobbit movies.

HBelmont67

The Viltrumites DEFINITELY had this coming, but you can't help but feel a little bad seeing how dire things got for Nolan. 😰

HBelmont67

I think this is also the only episode thus far to not feature Invincible at all.

Erin Ryan

Oooo he was great as Ronan

HBelmont67

Holy crap, they need to add more questions, cause today's episode was ABSOLUTELY incredible. 🤯

Erin Ryan

my heart is still racing so fast please

Timothy Heck

I remember Kenny being a bit flabbergasted during the Invincible War when Tech Jacket showed up apparently out of no where and solo'd an Evil Invincible. It's cool to see that the show didn't forget about the random really strong hero when it came time to gather up all possible assets (who has his own comic written by Kirkman that predates Invincible!) Way back in season 1, one of the things that sold me on the show's world and made me pick up the comics was the return of the Reanimen, with Cecil using them against Omni-man. This story looks like it's just kinda throwing everything at the wall randomly but it's nice to know that there's intentionality behind the world-building

Timothy Heck

Something about Omni-Man walking around with his pillow is really endearing to me lol

KrakenKing

“Good on them for committing genocide.” Ok, Viltrumite.

JOHNNY DABOII

13:30 monata unfortunately your wrong, they're both different

JOHNNY DABOII

43:20 montana really wants to be right but I'm sorry, hopefully you can see this to see that they're not the same species
