Oh, this is gonna be FUUUUUUUN

HBelmont67

What are your first impressions on Momo and Ken, their differences and similarities?

Otaku's Finest

I am absolutely ecstatic for this reaction!

HBelmont67

First, I wanna say thank you for giving this show a try. I hope you'll be able to look past the uncomfy bits and enjoy the genuine positives. Second, this series has a lot of very niche references that you'll probably need to look up, from real-life urban legends to Japanese pop culture. For this episode, for example, Ken Takakura was an old-timey actor (think Japanese Clint Eastwood.)

In the ghosts vs aliens debate, do you have a side you believe in irl, and if so, are there facets of that you hope to see explored here?

Robin B

Haven't asked a question for a long time! After watching the first episode, what do you expect of this show and where do you thing it will go from here?

Wolffe5989

This show is wacky, random and weird but I hope the character interactions and their personalities keep you engaged into this narrative. Fun Fact the editor encouraged the author to read about 100 romances to improve romantic interactions and tension between characters

HBelmont67

Aliens vs ghosts: do either of you believe they could exist, and which would you prefer to have an encounter with, if necessary? 👽👻

Otaku's Finest

After experiencing the 1st episode, what are some expectations that you may be anticipating from this 1st season?

HBelmont67

How crazy was this first episode compared to other pilot episodes you watched? Assuming this is at least top three, what are others you found similarly insane ways to start a show?

Law

Do you see your younger selves in okarun and momo?

Z C

The first episode is often cited as being too much and can be an understandable barrier for some when trying out DanDaDan. With that said how do you think it compares to a show like Chainsawman that also delves into similarly uncomfortable themes? What are your first impressions of Momo and Ken and the world they are now interacting with?

Cyan_Sky9135

I'll make this short and sweet, Do you expect to be ready for the weirdness that ensues?

Contrastjd

I hope u enjoy dandadan the first episode is kinda crazy but it's generally a good watch. Just to give u some trivia the author of this manga had many unsuccessful manga that never made it past the first few chapters. So his editor told him he should write a romance story and dandadan landed. Apparently he ended up reading and buying over a 100 different romance mangas to better prepare for this story.

Juan Solo

At the end of this episode we learn that Ken happens to share his name with Momo's celebrity crush. Any thoughts on that?

StorytellerDave

Have you ever had something happen that you felt weirdly paranormal or just strange in general?

HBelmont67

Ooh, storytime question

ContextSensitive

We don't know the male main character's name until the very last scene of episode 1. What is the closest you have ever gotten to/longest you have known someone without knowing their name?

Contrastjd

This show has a lot of folklore of spirits and cryptids from Japanese culture are there any stories from your own culture that you were interested in growing? For example bigfoot or the loch Ness monster.

ContextSensitive

How would you rate the rom-com elements of this show so far? (Meet Cute, chemistry of the leads, troublesome situation, grand gesture)

Lars

What do you think of the show’s choice to have the creatures be ordinary businessmen rather than traditional monsters?

Gestrid

Fun fact: Turbo Granny is voiced by none other than Barbara Goodson, aka Rita Repulsa from the original Power Rangers! You know, the lady who kept making her monsters grow at the end of every fight so the Power Rangers would have to summon their Megazord. Out of curiosity, do either of you have any experience with the Power Rangers franchise?

Gestrid

Yes, Ken's parents basically named him the equivalent of naming your kid Clint Eastwood.

HBelmont67

And in the Japanese sub, she's voiced by Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece. 🏴‍☠️

Gestrid

This show intentionally used aliens disguised as Japanese businessmen in order to do a social commentary on the issue of their "practices", as seen inside the UFO in this episode. How do you think the anime handled this subject matter in this episode? In your opinion, did they handle it well or not? Where do you see they could've handled it better? (For the record, I think most people agree it could've been handled much better, so, if that's your answer, know you're not alone in thinking that.)

HBelmont67

Ken in his introduction appeared to be a quiet bullied kid with no friends (which he confirms by the end of the episode), but what do you make of him not hesitating to butt heads with Momo the second their niche interests collided?

Day

Initial episode reactions? What did you think?

Murr

What do y’all think about Momo’s obsession with Ken Takakura (who’s basically kind of a Japanese Clint Eastwood)? How do you think it might affect her relationship with her classmate/new acquaintance?

Murr

What is your impression of Momo’s relationship with her grandmother? What kind of person do you expect her grandmother to be?

Lyrical Kell of Music

Super curious to hear your thoughts on the art style, voice acting, music, op, etc

HBelmont67

Reeeeally hoping they keep going past these first couple of episodes. 😏

Dov Fink

Just a warning this is they wackiest most “anime” anime you’ve seen so far, for better or for worse so there will be parts that are uncomfortable

Geese

To add a little bit to HBelmont's comment, Ken Takakura(the actor) was best known for playing serious, steely eyed Yakuza Casanova types, and he was a real heartthrob in his day. But still, that would be like a high schooler nowadays simping super hard for like Sean Connery or something lmao.

HBelmont67

I mean, would that be all that crazy lol? It's James Bond. 😄

Malik Black

Were you guys team ghost or aliens before watching this episode
