Maomao liking poisons is like Montana liking horses and kenney liking the iron giant, I had late mentioned that in the last episode but then still stands poisons aren't great no but then for another prospective would be hange in AOT everyone gots their things they like or are into

Hi, I've been watching you since Avatar days on TikTok, always happy to see your new videos and how you grow over the years :D. Regarding Maomao's age she's 17 and Jinshi is set to be between the age of 18-19, I'm not sure if anime mentioned that but that is said in manga. About eunuch since it's based on China, they usually become one by having surgery all the way down meaning both parts were taken off only leaving small part. The families in that era believed it will help them pursue better education and improving their financial status. Also allow them to travel to different countries. That was the only way back then. The only people who were allowed to travel without become eunuch were High ranking military officers (so high ranking nobles) and The Royal family of course. I hope that fact helps you bit better about understating the position of eunuch in the show. PS: Who's your current favourite character in AP? And what direction do you think Maomao and Jinshi will follow based on their ranks?

I always read the hairpins as "I am interested in you" - it could be romantic, but it doesn't have to be.

All their ages get identified in a later episode as well but for maomao it is understandable, I suppose to say, just can't exactly give to much info

Just a little bit of eunuch context here since they never really dive too much into it but in TAD eunuchs are fully castrated- the setting is inspired by many different dynasties of imperial china (just a fictionalized country called Li) but imperial Chinese eunuchs had both the penis and testicles removed so the eunuchs here have nothing down there

I guess the best way to describe the hairpins would be "Marks of Favor". Like, it can be romantic but it can also just show that you have someone of status looking out for you; "keeping bad bugs away" as Lady Gyukuyou put it. Or in Lihaku's case, he was just trying to make people feel included in the same way a child might give Valentines gifts to their whole class.

To understand the Eunuch situation, in Imperial China, Eunuchs are completely castrated in a single procedure. That way there can be absolutely no confusion as to the imperial bloodline. Anesthesia was crude at best and recovery was legendarily painful and difficult.

@Shay - Well, yeah Lihaku isn't a eunuch, but Gaushun also wears the same outfit and the eunuchs also wear the same outfit, pretty much every male character there wears the same outfit XD
