i’m so glad you guys are enjoying the ride so far! i remember seeing a comment on the last poll saying you guys wouldn’t enjoy dandadan’s humour since it was “so juvenile,” but i figured it would be right up your alley and i figured right– idk, i like being vindicated 😭 anyway i can’t wait for the next episode

i think momo and seiko’s dynamic is a fun and interesting one– it’s irreverent for sure but fond and built on mutual understanding. they treat each other as equals rather than as authority figure and someone who defers, i think you’ll really come to enjoy their relationship :)

Seiko's more like a cool aunt than Momo's grandma, with how she teases Momo for her love life. 😅 I'm actually curious about that, since Seiko looks in her 40s-50s. I know IRL Japanese people tend to age EXTREMELY well, but that's rarely adapted in anime. Either Seiko looks younger than she is, she was a teenage mom, or her child (Momo's mom or dad) was.

I will say, as much as the - Okarun has to take a dump while Momo is watching - bit is juvenile and funny haha moment, it does in a weird way get them past any sense of uncomfortability, like after that would anything ever really make you feel embarrassed in front of the other? I don't think there's much that could top that XD

a lot of people forget this part later. she cane see energy from everything and anyone, not just people with powers. but people later forget and start to think if she sees the energy from someone they assume they have powers, she specifically says everyone and everything even leaves have it she can see

I do like that the start showcases that Seiko is not just strong, but also smart in how she uses her abilities. The bit where she locks Turbo Granny into a circle where outside is danger, inside is safe, then draws another circle around that circle which is outside is safe and inside is danger, only to then remove the first circle is absolutely brilliant.

Context for that post credits scene: the term "gyaru" is the Japanese word for "gal", and is basically a social subculture for rebellious and fashionable girls in Japan. Momo and her friends in episode one are gyarus. For another example, Mina Ashido from MHA could be considered a gyaru, as well.

I had to watch that scene several times to catch on to what she was doing. It's a well-structured action scene.

One of Kari Wahlgren's most well-known roles is Haruko on FLCL. Others include several voices in Naruto, Charmcaster in Ben 10, and Shandra Jimenez (the reporter) and Priscilla Northwest in Gravity Falls.

Same. Most reactors I've seen don't notice that at all. They're too worked up about Okarun or the fight that just finished or something to really watch the show.

I always see FLCL, I assume that's Fooly Cooley? Also, I didn't realize Kari was in Gravity Falls, but I can totally picture her voice since those characters, now. 😅 I knew her as Kitana from Mortal Kombat and Starfire from Injustice 2 and the DCAMU movies.

I don’t think she’s communicating telepathically it’s just the dialogue that’s happening over the scene isn’t at the same time as the scene itself. It’s a conversation they had earlier offscreen.
