While Jinshi and Maomao are in town we get a scene between Gaoshun and Suiren where they recount Jinshi’s childhood, namely how they hid his favorite toys from him, all while knowing it caused him severe emotional distress. How do you think this affected his development growing up?

Should Jinshi have not asked Maomao but found someone else to seek the answer from?

We've seen Maomao smile at Jinshi before, but those were instances when she was more focused and excited about something else, and he was just in her vescinity. Here, though, she seemed to genuinely enjoy his company while walking around the Pleasure District. What do you think was different about this situation that would bring out such a reaction from her?

Sorry I had two longer ones! Totally forgivable if you skip over them because they're just far too long lol. 1) So far in the series we've seen Jinshi and Maomao acting as character foils - Jinshi using his beauty simultaneously as a weapon and as armor, and we've also seen hints that show his resentment but also resignation of this fact, whereas Maomao has expressed that she intentionally un-beautifies herself to try and avoid attention, but has a similar resignation to the world and her role in it simply being this way, just like Jinshi . Yet in this episode, we see their roles and foils become reversed. What effect do you think this had on their relationship/the story? 2) When Maomao is inspecting Master Jinshi's body to try and develop a disguise for him, she notices some peculiarities that she would not normally expect, such as his muscular physique and calluses on his hands. She is naturally inquisitive and investigative as is her nature, and she typically cannot help her curiosity (so much so that she found herself in a position where that particular skill has been needed and used time and time again to solve many mysteries in the palace already). Yet when she starts to become inquisitive about these mismatched/unexpected parts of Master Jinshi, instead of trying to develop hypotheses or "solve" the mystery as she seems to do with almost everything else, she shuts down that line of questioning in her brain and literally says "no need to ask such a silly question." Do you find this strange? Why might she do this only where Master Jinshi is concerned when she seems unable to control her urge to unravel the truth of situations in almost every other scenario?

in this episode we see Jinshi and Maomao take a trip into the pleasure district. What did you think about the role reversal of Maomao being a Lady and Jinshi being the attendant?
