Date tech is pronounced "da-tay" in japanese, but date is just a word in english so they choose to go with date instead of da-te. i personally think its a wrong choice, but its just a name, its nbd

Translations can be tricky. Us English users always prefer to simplify things, and it can lead to fumbles like this.

Plus I'd say that saying Da-Te Tech is a little weird in the mouth because its the same sound twice in a row. So it makes a little more sense to simplify it say it the way they do. Lets go Date-Ko sounds better as a cheer though.

Date Tech is named after Date Masamune, a famous general from the warring states era of Japan.

I do think they should do a romance one, but it can be hard with the amount of Anime Bullshit involved in most series. Maybe Kaguya would be a good one to start with. I also like toradora and it's a classic, but I feel it does require some knowledge of Anime tropes to make sense? The real dream rec is Spice and Wolf, but that's probably pretty out there. Honestly maybe start with something nice and wholesome like tsuki ga kirei

Either Kaguya-Sama or Horimiya would be right up their alley to try out romance anime. Both have great characters and English dubs.

The way the volleyball season goes at least in Haikyu (I can’t speak to how it works in Japan) is that the only official games they play is in this tournament. One tournament in the fall, one in the spring. Their season only goes as far as they go in the tournament. All other games during the season are unofficial and they only will play practice games that they can schedule. That is also why it’s such a big deal every time their coach schedules a practice game, other schools don’t want to waste their time playing against teams in practice games they don’t deem reputable and important so it’s hard to build your school up again after it’s fallen. That is also why their “wingless crow” nickname is taken so seriously, they don’t want that impacting their prospects of practice games. That is how professional soccer is played on a national level as well, they have “friendlies” that are games that don’t count for official rankings of a team and countries only play other countries during tournaments.
