Psychologically speaking, what are your thoughts on Lady Anshi claiming that she wasn’t a child that fell into the late emperors clutches solely because, unlike the other children, she knew in advance that he was a pedophile, and that she was expected her to win his favor? Do you think she actually believes in her lack of victimhood, or do you believe this is her trying to convince herself that she had any sort of agency in the matter?

Given the Emporer's reactions, do you think it was just how he was born or is there some sort of trauma relation to grown women that prevents him from interacting with them?

What do you think about how this show handles issues such as pedophilia, SA, and other sensitive issues? We see that when the empress dowager grew up she took ‘revenge’ on the emperor. While irrehensible does this make sense from the perspective of a victim of child sexual abuse?

The empress dowager is an extremely complex and nuanced character. What did you think of the things we learned about her story and her personality in this episode?

From the reactions of characters like Maomao and Jinshi, it's clear that the previous emperor's actions are not considered normal in this setting. However, we see in this episode that Lady Anshi's parents sent her to the rear palace to intentionally throw her in the path of the previous emperor. Similarly, we learned last season that Lady Lishu got sent to the rear palace at a very young age. What do you think the show is trying to portray about the way these young girls are used as tools for political power, even when it goes against general social norms.

Getting a slightly more extended view for once, what do you make of the late Emperor here? He seems to have had some genuine issues- this doesn’t change or excuse his horrible actions, but how do you feel it colors his overall story?
