Remember, Loaman delivered 2 babies on the same day. The former emperor's and the current emperor's son. Due to priority on the new prince the concubine of the to be emperor had complications and almost died..months later the son died to being fed honey. Maomao then speculated its possible the concubine of the to be emperor switched the babies so her son lived. And the emperor has no other brothers. So Jinshi is the surviving baby of those births. Whether the emperor's brother who was absent from the first flower party or the emperor's secret son, he is the heir to the throne until the emperor has kids. That said, different monarchies had different rules but its not uncommon for a princess to be heir ahead of an uncle. Basically goes king's sons, then daughters then siblings

Correction: Jinshi being the brother to the emperor is what he believes. But if we're following Maomao's theory and his biological resemblence to Ah Duo, that doesn't make sense 🤔

I find it funny just how open the Emperor is about what he likes, even Maomao called it out last episode about Lihua having the advantage over Shin because her boobs were bigger XD

On top of the other more obvious reveals, there is some subtle hints about how much political influence Maomao accidentally wields despite her abject refusal to acknowledge it. The Emperor joking twice about how Lakan would be a problem if he were to try and take Maomao as a concubine is worth noting
