Kyle’s character really is just the personification of “That’s rough, buddy.”

Ci-Ci

I think this show does a good job of humanizing all the characters, even when their on the “bad” side. So it’s less black and white against the horde-since there are character we like and empathize with on the opposite side. Lol and we end up kinda wanting Scorpia to win cause we love her 😅

To the comment about this feeling a bit like a filler episode: I'd say this is the only episode of the whole show that you could skip and not miss any important story or character points, but you would miss the tribute to the original show.

Strong filler episode vibes (and you can basically call this a filler season in my opinion) but also this show does what Avatar the Last Airbender does with it's filler episodes (such as Zuko Alone, Tales of Ba Sa Sing or the Aang can't get any sleep episode). It uses them as an opportunity to explore character growth and development which is always my favorite part of a tv show and is why this show is so amazing for me

Lars

It took me way too long to realize “Roll with It” was a DnD pun. Very curious to see if it comes up again later that Scorpia pretty effortlessly beat Shera and Glimmer

Suplee215

Also the entire reason I watched this show was because I saw Noelle Stevenson on Critical Role playing Dungeon and Dragons (Critical Role is literally just a bunch of nerdy voice actors playing D&D in front of a camera) so this episode was just so fun to see.

So true. Only 2 characters in the entire show I think are truly evil. Yes one of them is Shadow Weaver.

Madara_Uchiha_2022

Also Kenny you’re right about the Original He-Man and Shera’s Version of Catra and she has the ability to turn into a Cat as well in the old show.

Dysike

Surprised we didn't get any simping over Glimmer's version of Catra in this episode

One thing I realized during your discussion was that it was interesting to see this rebooted cast of characters in versions of their original costumes. For the original content (mostly due to the time it was made) a lot of the characters had similar character builds/body types bc it was easier to draw. The character revamp in the rebook is definitely a positive for me. I enjoyed this episode and your commentary!

The same body type is actually (and hope I don't sound like too much of a dick) due to the toys. Like He-Man, She-Ra was created as a way to sell toys and in order to save money all the She-Ra characters reused the same mold and only the color, hairstyle and clothes were different.

Craig Payne

They recently announced an official Avatar role playing game, Avatar Legends, if you were looking for a setting that could be more familiar than D&D.

So, between Tiny Bow, Spybot, and Sea-Ra, who was the best character introduced in this episode?

John Alexander

Ok so I adore Scorpia, hands down my favourite character. In ep 6 (no spoilers are coming, don't worry) someone will show a group of people an image relating to the black garnet. Please, please pay close attention to that image & what it implies <3

This is one of my favorite episodes of the season. I don't know if links work here, but if you want some fun clips of the original She-Ra, this is a good video to check out (several out-of-context clips that are hilarious): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnD01qkQJOk

That video does a great job "summarizing" the general vibe of 80s She-Ra. I really enjoyed s2 ep 4 a lot more after knowing the context of Bow's plan and why there were so many horrible puns (as a side note, 80s Catra is hilarious in the worst way)

ZackTh3Ripp3r

so glad that i decided to fold and fo to the pateron for this and the last reaction!, now need to rewatch everything on here!

hex

I would die for Scorpia

Vanessa

Just joined again specifically for Shera, glad to see more episodes coming out!

Angela Colon

As a D&D need, I adore this episode. It absolutely captures what the game is about while having character growth and just being one of the funniest episodes.

As someone who ran a number of D&D and other paper-and-pencil RPGs, Adora's look when Perfuma, Frosta and Mermista sit themselves down and insist on joining the session reminds me of SO MANY time when the players would just go off on a tangent, so all my prep work went out the window and I had to improvise on the fly. Generaly, everyone still had fun ... except ME, because it was so stressful. The fun part did salve the stress, though.

JHB

Mermista's "fabulous secrets were revealed to me the day..." Sea-Ra transformation speech is also an Original Series Reference. It mimics 80s Adora's voice-over at the beginning of each episode's intro.

Kyle: Designated runt of the litter.

I get kind of "Dirty Pair" vibes from Glimmer's sequence.

Werrf

Catra's favourite colour is clearly a light sky blue.

Werrf

BTW - Mermista's version is also a reference to the original She-Ra. Her announcement of "Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me..." etc is based on Adora's intro narration from the original series.
