Excited to watch!

LeFlaneur

All the top anime suggestions at the moment, while great, skew heavily on the dreary side, so I’d like to recommend some shows that are more wholesome and uplifting like Ranking of Kings, or Hunter x Hunter. Feels like after Attack on Titan, it would be interesting to go somewhere else completely tone wise.

Cornhorn

I am placing my vote for fullmetal alchemist brotherhood

Brandon Domer

MHA next, at least for a test episode.

Mike Donohue

My hero academia has to be next

Marcb92

Random thought: 50 years from now, retirement homes are going to be filled with senior citizens who are triggered by cliffhangers…and anime will be to blame. That’s wild!

Polygon

Reiner's Titan was missing portions of it's armor because it was only a partial transformation. As we know, transforming takes drive and willpower (something that Reiner is unfortunately short on at the moment) but he managed to dig deep for the sake of the kids and in order to save Galliard. It's a neat visual metaphor for who Reiner is beneath the armor and how Reiner is regaining his humanity while Eren is depicted to be increasingly monstrous. Reiner ran when the Jaw Titan was eaten in the past but this time, he's chosen to fight and protect it and even more poetically, Porco Galliard just so happens to be the brother of the previous holder he abandoned.

Angel Hernandez

Dang, the dub kinda messed up one of Zeke’s lines. Oh well tho lol. Great reaction as always!

Donovan Barnes

I'm glad we finally are getting to where Kenny is asking why about stuff. Also another vote for FMA Brotherhood

bengal

Death Note dub is really good. I enjoyed it. So I'd say Death Note

John Carrizales

Great Reaction as always you two! Honestly when I saw this episode the first time and hearing Porko Scream for Eren to stop. I just kept thinking to myself "How dare he" How dare he ask Eren to stop when hundreds of thousands of people screamed for the same thing as mindless titans his government sent to the people of the walls/paradise. I just remember Episode 1 as I saw Erens mom HELPLESLY fight Diana titan with her hands as she yelled out for the love of her son and was then snapped in half and then eaten alive. How dare he even ask for Eren to stop which is why I personally am glad eren did what he did.

Dfd

I have been waiting for your reaction to this literally since episode one!

Rory Fitz

FYI in sub (Funimation captions) Zeke’s line was translated as “Eren Jeager is not my enemy,…” Still possibly just referring to Levi being the bigger threat at that moment but I thought it was a cool wording and worth noting especially as you both pointed out his line

Rory Fitz

@montana Armins titan looked like him when it was the pure titan form. Now he has the colossal power so it looks different than when he ate bertholdt. So that’s why it didn’t look like him

fr0st

Can I just call out Montana's growth. Starting out this series, she was flinching and looking away at blood and gore and now she doesn't even react to Eren ripping off Porco's titan arms. Well done!

jacob

Demon Slayer!!!

Chelly
>>79505655

I mean it’s not like Galliard personally had anything to do with that. He only got the Jaw Titan after Ymir returned. But Eren personally came to Marley and actively wreaked havoc on innocent civilians. Galliard was just defending his home, same as what Eren would’ve done if given the chance. You’re only happy with what Eren did because up until now you saw things from his perspective 🤷‍♀️

fr0st

FMAB next, for sure.

fr0st

I literally cannot wait for the next ep, so excited to start experiencing it for the first time with you both.

Ravn Stevensdóttir

While I definitely think that both FMAB and DeathNote should be series eventually, my vote is definitely for DeathhNote first just for the fact that it’s shorter and I think would make a fun quick (ish) series before doing FMAB. It also has so many moments for both of you to psychoanalise that would be so interesting to see

Isaac Aderman

I would love a death note reaction! That show has one of the best dubs in anime.

Zo Hunter

That shirt change though. Threw me off for a sec

John Carrizales
>>79505655

@Graffiti "I mean it’s not like Galljard personally had anything to do with that"-I never said that he did but he should know exactly waht Marley has done and what the yare currently doing is wrong. He has Yimir's Memories he so much as admiitt it to Reiner when he woke up after the batttle at Fort Slava. "But Eren personally came to Marley and actively wreaked havoc on innocent civilians" Actually he didn't while Eren did infact kill innocent civilians there is a huge difference between what he did and what Marley did Four years ago. While he did in fact kill innocent Civilians they were in fact not his target he didn't take the time to murder civilians he went stright for Marley's Officers. "You’re only happy with what Eren did because up until now you saw things from his perspective" - I mean there is no perspective Marley is a military Dictatorship that has enslaved the Eldian people for War and it is only because of their ability to turn into tians that Marley has yet to murder all of them. There is no defending Marley.

Polygon

In the original Japanese there's actually an additional layer of context that's lost in English. When Zeke says "Eren Jeager is not my enemy", the connotation of what he says in Japanese is a bit different than the English translation. He says "Eren Jeager wa ore no teki ja nai" which literally translates to "Eren Jeager is not my enemy." However, in Japanese, the connotation based on context can also mean that Eren isn't his enemy because he's nowhere near strong enough to threaten him/he's not on his level. That's why there are confused looks from the other warriors right after he says that because they’re not sure how to interpret his words.

Chelly
>>79505655

He should know what they’re doing is wrong? That’s easy to say when you don’t have any family or friends living on the “wrong side” with zero way of actually helping them other than becoming a shifter yourself. Not to mention all the brainwashing would certainly not be undone by a few gained memories (memories which took place AFTER the first attack on Shiganshina). And it’s interesting how you’re excusing Eren’s actions as collateral damage when his mom’s death was essentially collateral as well. And I’m not defending Marley as a country here, of course I think what they’ve done with the Eldians is terrible. But remember that the Eldians essentially did the same sort of thing to the Marleyans (and the rest of the world) ages ago. As unfair as it is now, it’s not as if this hatred stems from nothing. The people currently fighting didn’t choose this outcome. When you get down to it, it’s the political officials that are truly at fault in these scenarios. Those are the only ones I really have zero sympathy for.

Miles Snow

FMAB is such an amazing series and I think you both would love it

TrixieTurner

I think Armins colossal titan explosion was bigger cause he did it in the water which caused a steam explosion due to all the heat.

John Carrizales
>>79505655

"That’s easy to say when you don’t have any family or friends living on the “wrong side” with zero way of actually helping them other than becoming a shifter yourself." I am not arguing for him to have som sorta of Epiphany of changing sides after all these years just because of Yimir. I am only referencing this scene here. He is Yelling for Eren to stop.Like I mentioned He should understand Eren's Prespective. So him Yelling for him to stop in this specific sceene it shouldn't shock him that Eren wasn't going to stop. "And it’s interesting how you’re excusing Eren’s actions as collateral damage when his mom’s death was essentially collateral as well"- The Major difference here is the fact that Eren mom didn't know she was at war with another country thus making her completely innocent and Paradise had been at that point none-threatening for 100 of years though I argue them sending titans to slaughter the people inside the walls could have easily been seen as an act ofwar sooner than when willy offically declared it himself. "But remember that the Eldians essentially did the same sort of thing to the Marleyans (and the rest of the world) ages ago" Which is a silly argument to even bring up. I am of mexican decent myself personally does that make me at fault for the sins of Santa Ana Army for marching onto the alamo and desotrying it? No it doesn't. Regardless of what the past Eldians did they are not responsible for the sins of their previous ancenstors. " When you get down to it, it’s the political officials that are truly at fault in these scenarios"- Which is where I agree with you here and why I think The Tybur Family are probably the most evil characters currently besides that man that was stabbing the eldians with spinal fluid during the flash back with Krugor. Because the Tybur Family knew for years about King Fritz and it wasn't only until Eren got this power and after they realized they fucked up by allowing marley to send four child soilders to the island was a bad idea that he used this moment to spin this news in a way that benifits his own family.

Thatdumbassrogue

i soooo want you to react to FMAB its so good

Sean Carroll
>>79505655

Eren did target the civilians, you’d have to be a fool to not realise that or just incredibly ignorantly biased. He transformed in the basement of a building which he stated had families in waiting for everything to happen. He also would obviously know that transforming would cause devastation around the place. Like I said he knew what he was doing by killing civilians and the reporters from the world. No matter how much you love him you can’t defend erens actions here

ajams22

Ah yes next episode time to cry

The Brooklynite

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood has my vote as the 1st series of the 3 you 2 should watch. Demon Slayer would be the 2nd choice behind FMAB

Tim Itnyre

Definitely agree with the folks suggesting Death Note as the next anime. It has a fantastic dub as well.

John Carrizales
>>79505655

@Sean Carroll Ok so I really didn't want to have to say it but i guess i will before more people get confused. Killing Innocent people no matter what is UNEQUIVOCALLY WRONG" "No matter how much you love him you can’t defend erens actions here"- I never defended his actions any where in my comments I even said that "He in fact did kill innocent people" I was pointing to the fact that there is a difference betrween what Eren did and what Marley did four years ago. Both Incidents did kill Innocent people. Marley attacked an unprovked Paradise by sending the four child soildersto steal the founding titan because their military needed to have the power of the titans be dominate for their own Greed. Eren is litertally fighting for the right to exist in this world. Both outcomes do kill innocent people and killing innocent people again is wrong that is the major difference here we can see Eren knew he was going to kill innocent people but when the entire world declares war on you. You priorities change on who you must protect.

Ci-Ci

Queen Hange’s return 👏🏻👏🏻

Kaya Khanyile

Definitely I suggest you watch Demon Slayer, top tier anime, and it's great in dub, it has everything, action, laughter, suspense, and sad moments, you would love it

Casey Turner

Please react to demon slayer! One of the best anime’s out there rn, and I think an especially good fit for you guys

Carco11

I really hope yall end up doing FMAB next, I consider its dub to be the gold standard for anime dubs

Kyle cazares

I’m good with either FMAB OR Death Note. Wait on Demon Slayer until there’s more episodes. Only two seasons out so far.

Christopher Johnson

I really don’t feel sympathy for the people killed by eren here, outside the children. They went to a rally where they were cheering as Willy Tyber declared that he wanted to wipe out the people on the island. What Eren did here was unequivocally the right thing. People forget at every point after this that the alternative was that. Eren was the leader of an oppressed country that was about to be the victim of genocidal colonization that would make all other genocides in our world look like minor conflicts. There is no level of fighting back that would be unreasonable when you’re fighting the extinction of your homeland.

HamboneKablooey

Moving forward with Kenny also being blind is so exciting, but damn that look of realization when he read the next episode's title and DIDN'T know what it meant. So satisfying, can't wait for the rest of y'alls reactions!

Don Julio TV

I am just so happy that they are going in blind together now: Kenny can’t help his excitement when he knows what’s next. But I enjoy it more when he theorizes what’s going to happen next. I never watched his individual reaction because I’d rather watch them both together. I’m extremely excited to see how you guys react going forward. Like Eren says… just keep moving forward

Stephen Richard

“Not forward thinking” Kenny gonna have to clip this for some future episodes in part 2. Just remember this. Also pleaseeeeee do demon slayer

Conor McNamara

That nutcracker scene makes me viscerally uncomfortable every time.

Abid Ahmed

Honestly it’s refreshing to watch season 4 in dub with you guys but I feel like episode 20 should be watched in sub as the voice acting is so much better and more dramatic. In general it’s fine but just a suggestion

Néo
>>79523470

they've said multiple times they couldn't watch in subs because of auditory processing disorders

Camzeee
>>79512058

The killing of innocents should always be mourned. Also, very little was done in terms of negotiation. I'm not saying it was necessarily preventable, but they could have done more to find a peaceful resolution.

LeFlaneur

Them: *kindly taking the time to explain that they will only do dub and why* Sub supremacists: *giving them the Yelena stare*

Darthwin Wright

A reaction to Full Metal Alchemist would definitely be great. Sometime in the distant future it would also be interesting to see a reaction to Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It is a pretty short series and wouldn't take long.

LeFlaneur
>>79512058

Paradis is closer to 1919-1939 Germany. And your rationale is very similar to that used by some part of the German leadership in the 30s-40s to do some, let's say unsavory things. People forget the larger context of the story for a POV centered solely on Eren, so they come up with twisted takes like yours.

Christopher Johnson
>>79512058

No, it really isn’t. Germany felt they had been historically wronged by a group and took up arms against them. Paradis is in the position of a colonized nation facing extinction. Comparing them to nazis reeks of historical and political illiteracy.

LeFlaneur
>>79512058

Sure... anyway, as long as your revisionist delusions and condoning of genocide don't bleed into real life, go off 👍

Christopher Johnson
>>79512058

What revisionist delusions? Are you just using words for historical takes you don’t like that you heard on tik tok.

ajams22
>>79512058

So weird the lengths AOT fans will go to justify unjust murder of innocent people. Y’all need therapy.

JennatheBreadQueen

I feel like the point Isayama is trying to make us that there are always good people being used as tools for war on both sides. The loss of any innocent life is a crime, and as much as I love Eren, this attack made me feel so heartbroken. And as much as I sympathize for the Warriors, the things they did scarred them and wrecked countless lives. Just heartbreaking all around. There are no winners in a situation like this

JennatheBreadQueen

but on another note montana reacting to the spongebob movie (early 2000s one) would be so fucking funny i thought about this at 3 and went 💡

CornBread

I find it funny that Kenny has talked in the past about social media reactions to controversial stuff thats happened in the show but has somehow avoided spoilers for what happens in 4x8. I don't know how he managed it because I got spoiled a long time before season 4 even came out because I didn't read the manga. Not gonna say anything more accept for ya'll are gonna need tissues for this one.

Deebus
>>79512058

@ajams22 that’s basically the point yams makes with AOT. The way he can hi-light the hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance in the reader is great. It’s a fantastic microchasm of the real world in which most people will go to great lengths to justify evil for the benefit of what they think is right. We see it everyday and it’s a major weakness we have as humans

JennatheBreadQueen
>>79512058

@Matt this is exactly it. It’s why he’s such a brilliant writer - he doesn’t shy away from what humanity is, both good and bad

Daolord Badlands

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is definitely one of my favorites, looking forward to what you guys think of it!

James S

I look forward to the both of them being able to talk about the rest of the season and learning things together at the same time. The reactions are already great, so I think the shift in discussion will make the videos even better!

Pablo Stilwell

Please please please don't watch demon slayer. It's not bad by any means but it's grossly overrated. The way I see it, it's got nothing going for it that sets it apart from other shonen anime save for maybe some of the art style. Now to be fair I've only watched half of the first season and everyone keeps telling me it gets better, but they've been telling me that since episode 3. If you have to wait a whole season before a show gets interesting then I don't think it's worth watching

Ghost Turty

Super excited for Kenny to be free of spoilers now!

Ghost Turty
>>79523470

I have the agree with this statement. The dubbed version just doesn’t hit as hard as the sub. The voice actor (not gonna say names) absolutely captures the moment where the dub version just doesn’t do that justice. But maybe seeing it subbed first made the dub less impactful. Idk.

Ghost Turty

My vote is for FMAB. Demon Slayer is still in progress and has ways to go from the mange source material.

JennatheBreadQueen
>>79523470

I’m gonna have to disagree danny - for people with auditory processing issues like them and myself, the dubbed version hits harder. i truly think the voice actors do an amazing job. but i totally get what you’re saying about the sub, and i admire the work those voice actors do as well!!

Melanie Meadows

Montana: “Okay, why are we taking so long with this?” She’s definitely new to anime lol😂

Alisa Harmon

This is the best episode in all of AOT in my opinion

Alisa Harmon

People speculate that Armin's colossal titan doesn't have ears because he doesn't want to hear the screams of the people he's killed

Abid Ahmed
>>79523470

Kind of confused what you guys mean when you say auditory processing issues, I was just making a suggestion. By all means don’t take this as me shitting on dub and trying to advocate hardcore for sub reactions, I really don’t mind either way, I just think that particular episode has better dialogue and certain lines are said in a better tone and manner in the subbed version than the dub. I thought Erwin’s speech was just as impactful in dub than in subbed and there are plenty of other scenes that I feel the same about. dub version of episode 20 was good nonetheless but lacking that “oomf” in my opinion

Jeffrey D

Full metal alchemist

Abid Ahmed

Whoever holds the colossal titan is able to control the explosion when they transform im pretty sure. Otherwise bertholdt could have easily nuked everyone when he transformed on top of the wall in front of everyone back in season 2 episode 6 “warrior”. The Nuke transformation is like its full power I believe

Abid Ahmed

I’ll be honest, I’ve seen a lot of people say demon slayer is overrated. Initially I had this thought also. In no way am I an avid anime watcher, if anything I’ve watched only the well known animes. But that’s just because the ones I’ve watched have great story, writing, action, characters and unlike a lot of anime filled with filler arcs/episodes, they’re straight to the point in their seasons much like a live action show. Imo if you’re trying to decide on an anime that’s AOT level, definitely consider Fullmetal, Deathnote, Demon Slayer and Jujustu Kaizen. Most importantly Demon Slayer and FMAB, these two shows give you that incredibly cathartic connection to the characters with their storylines

Abid Ahmed
>>79562492

I hope anime fans don’t take this as me shitting on other anime, everyone has their personal tastes of course. I was a huge fan of dbz, bleach and Naruto growing up but a lot of what put me off anime was fillers. I’m sure there are plenty of animes that don’t have them that are great, I’d love some recommendations myself. Honestly it’s just really hard to get into an anime as good as AOT lmao

JennatheBreadQueen
>>79562492

I absolutely get what you’re saying!!! Before AoT, I’d only ever seen Pokémon, so I have a massive nostalgic attachment to the latter. But AoT is on another level entirely, and not just when it comes to anime. I’ve been having trouble getting into anything else because it’s just SO above and beyond

Matthew Clark

I really think FullMetal Alchemist is a good one to go with after AOT!

Reece

Personally, I think Arcane could be cool, as I don't watch anime.

Florian Rabl

Arcane would be a really nice and short series (just 9 episodes) and would fit both of you perfectly.

Chelly
>>79505655

Sorry for the late response, but I just wanted to say that EVERYONE in this show is fighting for the right to exist, not just Eren (and as an extension Paradis). Both sides want to see the other completely annihilated because they consider them to be a threat to their safety, and THEY’RE RIGHT. They are all valid in their fears and their actions based on what they’ve come to understand. It’s like you said, people will almost always prioritize the ones they want to protect. That’s the unfortunate fatal flaw that humans are stuck with from the moment they’re born into this world, and it will inevitably lead to absolute devastation like what we saw this episode and what we saw way back in episode 1.

Neutral Nick

Not me, using my limited skills as a new attorney to vehemently defend my favorite war criminal Eren

Emma C

Do you guys think that if you cut a titanshifter in half and two different titans ate those halves at the same time that they would both get the ability?

kinetic98

Death note please

CasaSava94

Im so ready for the next episode!! I want to see Kenny's honest reaction to all new material.

AJ N

Magath is super protective of the warrior candidates this episode.

Ben Sarchett

I'd definitely go with Full Metal Alchemist next.

Rob Not

If you go with Full Metal Alchemist, just make sure that it's Brotherhood. The other series is... odd

karstenj10

Fun fact: Lara Tyburs last words were “Usurper Eren Jaeger, before you die, you may utter your final words”

Kamal Poluri

DEATHNOTE!! I really want to see Montana's psych analysis...

hunter miranda

would really love to see you guys watch jujutsu kaisen too. it’s entirely worth it. it’s genuinely funny, beautifully animated, all the characters are amazing and it’s also pretty short right now

Justin Spencer

I was a huge advocate for you guys watching death note but remembering the auditory issues you both face brotherhood dub is superior to death notes by far it’s not even close so I’ll have to switch to it on this basis. Congrats on catching up to each other should be fun to see the discussions moving forward.

Azure FanFic Reader

First choice is FMAB then Death Note then finally Demon Slayer since it’s still airing and barely on season 2 dubbed wise

Yusuf

A R C A N E !

Rahul Korrapati

What do you think of erens calmness and absoulte cold blooded killer attutide

Griff

Bro pausin way too much

AJ

Demon Slayer

rezerva1

Fullmetal alchemist on account of its dub. It is actually better than original

Pocket Leaves

Lets not forget that they said the walls were made out of Colossals. The rumbling probably wouldn't be them "trampling over the world". Rather, it would be them nuking the world.

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong
>>81202113

But THE colossal only goes nuclear when they transform, so it wouldn’t be a world nuking as all the wall titans are pure titans and not Titan shifters.

No Consequence
>>81202113

I don't think they meant nuking the world literally, but rather the reality of that situation is absolute destruction
