The Best Nyaa

The Owl House is one of my favorite shows. I’m happy you two are starting this show.

MaSeshield9277

I was feeling nostalgic so I started this series again. Seeing Cheyenne broke my heart

Kade

My nourishment has been served

awildjord

i rlly hope u guys end up liking this show bc i rlly love it and it gets so much better later on

Kat

Nice! I've been excited for this one.

Retied

Wahooooo

Patrick Jordan

I always thought this episode would have been better with a comma: A Liar, a Witch, and a Warden

Geneva

Oh boy I've been waiting for this. Fair warning episode two isn't great but after that it just keeps hitting

fr0st

Hooray! Thanks for the food, Letts!

Ezra Margot

Was waiting for this one. So excited!!!

Nathan Grenawalt
>>92033399

SPOILERS for expectations.... I'd agree, but I also think episode 2 is super important because episode 1 was a bit too on-the-nose with the message and the characters hadn't been fully figured out yet (as often happens in pilots). Episode 2 is kinda meh, but it fixes the tone, the message and the characters before the more important episodes begin. Surprisingly, the Owl House doesn't have a lot of filler (that doesn't involve novel-writing).

Chelly

This show definitely has my vote, you guys would love it for sure

awildjord

the way kenny figured out it was azulas voice actress at the exact same moment i did on my first watch

King1007

Yay! You guys are the best

Migli

Fun fact if you take the first letter of each episode of the season it spells out a little secret message so if you guys do continue with TOH keep that in mind each episode to reveal the hidden message as you go along

Jojo Rich

It's rough because I love Dragon Prince so much, but my vote's gotta be for Owl House. If you thought the first episode was great, you're literally not prepared for how good some of the later ones are.

Amadeus

yes, Been waiting for this reaction series for too long.

DoryTheFish

I love that you are excited about this show because trust me you have no idea what's coming next. It will be only better.

fr0st

Fun trivia: The voice of Eda that you recognized is Wendy Mallick, who's really great. Also This is a Disney show and Luz is the first Disney animated show lead that is a POC! It may also interest you that the voice of King and Hooty is the same person, Alex Hirsch, who you may know from Gravity Falls, if you're aware of that, but he's really great too.

Taylor Caswell

As a diehard Young Justice fan and an avid lover of Dragon Prince, I’ve gotta say this show just seems to resonate with you guys in such a heartwarming way!! I’m happy to wait for YJ if this winds up being the pick. Your reactions are always wonderful but this show seemed to spark some serious joy across the board (and yall deserve a break after Arcane), so sorry DC I’m swapping votes for now <3

martiancide

The Owl House is one of the best cartoons out there recently, in my opinion at least. It's unfortunate that Disney practically cancelled its third season due to the LGBT themes :')

fr0st
>>92033399

You would only say that if the trope highlighted in the second episode isn't your most hated one in fantasy.

jolly

yesss!!! the owl house is my pick!!

Bo

loved this reaction! this show is amazing

Migli

The Owl House is one of my favourite cartoons along with She-Ra and representation is a big part of that so its no surprise most she-ra fans adore the owl house too because Luz is Disneys first bisexual main character although frankly Disney doesn't deserve the credit considering they cancelled the show and cut a whole 3rd season into 3 45 minuite specials but still an important milestone for representation in mainstream kids TV

Ashrita Chavali

I've loved your She-Ra reactions and have been waiting for you guys to reactto Owl House since then. Each episode gets better and better, no doubt about it!

kai

i love this show! hoping for it to win :)

Catradora fan

The little round character who thinks the world is a triangle is voiced by Dana Terrace the show runner

Jenny D
>>92033399

I’d argue that the only episode that’s completely filler is 1x08. Otherwise at least either the A or B plot of every other episode in the series has something relevant to the plot/character development. Even 1x08 technically has a moment that comes up in later episodes, but it’s not anything important.

Jenny D

I was waiting for Kenny to spot Azula! Her voice is all over the background of this series so get ready for an Azula counter, Kenny!

Jenny D
>>92035053

And the voice actor for King and Hooty (yes they’re voiced by the same person for those who don’t know!) was Dana’s boyfriend at the time, and the creator of another popular Disney Channel cartoon that Dana also worked on.

bobin

This show gets my vote. The characters are endearing, the world is wonderful, and the episodes just get better and better as it goes on.

Jenny D

Fun fact: The first letter of each episode title spells out a secret message for each season! Also something fun for Kenny to look for while editing this series: there’s a coded word hidden within a scene of each episode and once decoded the words form a poem. Each code is prefaced with an eye follows by some symbols. Some people are really good at spotting them, meanwhile this is the first time I’ve spotted the one from this episode and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched this show. I have no idea how the fans who first noticed these managed to decode them or where they found the cipher though.

According to Dana Terrace, that was not the reason. Disney didn't want to continue the show because it was serialized and attracted an adult audience. Owl House did not appeal to the demographic Disney was aiming for. In the United States, the purpose of a children's show is usually to sell toys. Adult viewership did not facilitate the sales that Disney wanted the show to generate. Additionally, serialized shows are usually confusing to young viewers who have not been with the show since the beginning of the story. Plus, they cannot be effectively aired out-of-order, which is an issue for children's television that is not designed for bingeable watching via on-demand services. Remember, "Owl House" was originally a Disney show (not Disney+). Had it been a Disney+ show from the start, it might have had a different fate.

Jenny D

I’ve thought about this a lot, and I’ve come to the conclusion that Eda is basically who Catra would’ve been if she had been raised by Madam Razz instead of Shadow Weaver.

Jenny D
>>92034641

According to Dana Terrace they ended the show because it’s too serialized and the audience skews older than their ages 6-11 demographic.

Beeboop

I’m so excited that you guys are doing the owl house!!! It really is such a beautiful show and odds are you guys will get there just in time when season threes episodes release! 💖💖💖

MartianElegy
>>92034641

That's fair, Disney definitely did not state that it was actually due to the gay part of the show. But if it were a factor, Dana most likely couldn't confirm it. Either way, season two begun to emphasize a few key points (that I can't say because of spoilers) that came off as a little spiteful towards Disney, so I just assumed there was a direct reason.

Beeboop
>>92035876

Yeah! It’s so cool that they will be able to see it in completion on their first go! 😄

MartianElegy
>>92034641

It's still unfair ofc, even if it didn't fit the target demographic it still has done relatively well considering how TV viewership is diminishing. I'm surprised "too serialized" was the main reason when Gravity Falls followed the same format.

William Timmins

I think the show gets rapidly better over the next few episodes, and then more slowly climbs after that. It's good if you enjoy it from episode 1, it's just going to get so much more!

Kkat

I thought I was out with the end of Arcane. But nooooo. Not if you're going to react to the Owl House next. ^.^

Tyler Jacobs

This or The Dragon Prince would be fantastic

Bazil

I really want you guys to react to this show but out of all the listed shows it probably has the slowest start but when it gets good it's really good.

fr0st

I feel like we're not hyping Kenny enough for his plant identification. Great job, bud!

Robin Carme

This is a fantastic series and a must watch, along with amphibia!

Sleepy

Yesss you should finish this series!! Owl house all the way! Next add Steven Universe!!

Cathy Breuer

This is an amazing way to wake up!! Yay! Owl House!

JHB

Please proceed!

Oscar Rich

Ok but for reals, watch The Owl House

Arc_099_

OWL HOUSE!! My vote is The Owl House, by the way, just... Lettsing ya know

Robin B

OH MY GOD YES, FINALLY

Byron

Yesssss

JHB

I must say, I do love those moments when Kenny pulls the "did you know" card only to have Montana turn the tables and be the one who knows the pervasive cultural reference and HE's the one who was "sheltered" and didn't realize how much everyone else knew.

William Timmins

I had a kinda sh*y day yesterday, this was the high point. Thank you!

brosenthalUO

As somebody who loves anime fantasy and has 3 lizards and 2 frogs I relate to Luz I too have many friends who are drawn, imaginary, or reptilian (+amphibian)

Jenny D
>>92034641

Idk, think if the show was cancelled because of the LGBTQ themes and she contractually wasn’t allowed to say so Dana probably would’ve just kept quiet about it. She’s been pretty outspoken against Disney when they’re wrong about something. I mean she did that whole charity drawing stream when Disney supported the politicians behind the Don’t Say Gay bill. Of course it’s possible that the exec who cancelled the show (she did say in her Reddit post that the decision came down to one guy) did so because of the LGBTQ themes and just gave her the other reasons instead. But as of now that’s just speculation. And to be clear I’m not trying to defend Disney. The show definitely deserved a full three season, and iirc they were initially renewed for that and then it got cut down to the three 40 minute specials instead. That could be what the lines you mentioned were referring to.

Jenny D
>>92034641

Gravity Falls was only two seasons though and I think Alex has said that was always his plan for the show so it likely wasn’t an issue.

Archaev

I vote Owl House!

taco

Owl House is the best! Definitely got my vote!!

Jenny D
>>92033959

Oh I heard it immediately, but I think that’s mostly because she did a lot of different tones/accents in my favorite Scooby Doo series, Be Cool Scooby Doo! Grey Delisle/Griffin has been the voice of Daphne since like 2001, and in that series Daphne basically had a new niche hobby every week, so sometimes Grey got to do different voices for her.

MissSunFlower94

So happy that you love the humor of this show! It has some of my favorite jokes in all media - the writers are very clever

Victoria Zavala

This show starts pretty lighthearted but as you continue watching it becomes more and more interesting, I just know you're going to love it!

MartianElegy
>>92034641

Speculation is definitely the best way to put it! And I hope I didn't come across accusing you of supporting Disney, I was just explaining my reasoning for my previous comment :)

Jesper Bang

I would like you to continue this show

Jesse J.

I feel like you both will love hooty

Leighton Reacts

I'll cry if you don't pick this one (jk, I'm just being dramatic, but I will be very bummed because I know it's one you'll love!)

BermudaShortz

Omg I love this show so much. I'm happy you're enjoying it and it keeps getting better with each episode. This show is very wholesome and hilarious and I look forward to watching your reactions.

Attila Kos

i have seen both young justice and Dragon prince, and i absolutely ADORE dragon prince.. and have been clamoring for it since your Korra reactions but i've never seen this... and this first episode hit something in my heart.. i switched to the Owl house team!

Craig Payne

Definitely hoping for the continuation of The Owl House for your next reaction.

Racso Rhodes

My vote is for both Owl House and Dragon Prince, so long as you do one after the other it doesn't even matter which you do first, both are great fits for you guys. As some have surely stated, Dragon Prince is a spiritual successor to ATLA.

lisadeann

this and she ra are tied as my favorite shows so I really hope you watch this next! <3

Antonella Urbiola

Loved the reaction for episode 1!! I really hope you can do the whole show

Suplee215

Nice great reaction. Cool to see you have very little info other than it's gay. Certainly a spooky show (it eas originally pitched as a horror show for kids and while that element is still there it's not as much as Dana thought of)

Ari

YES IM SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR OWL HOUSE REACTIONS

Ari

The owl house is literally my second favorite show ever I can't wait to see you guys react

Lyla

Yes Owl House is great! With Spooky season coming I wish yall would watch Over the Garden Wall

Blacklung

fun fact: One of the main side characters voices Katara!

J. Jenny Jameson

Further She-Ra connections: one of the Owl House writers is Molly Knox Ostertag, who is married to Nate Stevenson and gave them the idea for the Heart of Etheria.

KT Bees

I'd be happy to see either owl house or dragon prince! Also Kenny. the REAL question is if you read the rest of the series? lol because while LW&W is good, it doesn't hold a candle to dawn treader or horse and his boy. (in my opinion only, of course everyone has different favorite rankings for the series.)

hayden

yessss!!! owl house is amazing and it keeps on getting better every single ep! owl house is my vote!!

Melanie Meadows

Eda’s voice actress also voiced the mom in Emperor’s New Groove. That’s who I immediately heard when I first watched it

Nicole Gordon

So excited for you both to experience this for the first time!!

Chantal Beausoleil

I'm so excited to see you react to this show! It's a real gem!

Jenny D
>>92034641

Oh no you’re fine! I just said that in case it seemed like I was coming off that way!

Metaljacket

This show is great I completely missed it. Just me or could the title "A Lying Witch and a Warden" be bit of a play on "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"?

lily whetsell

I will be honest, the 1st episode is rough compared to the rest of the series imo. It definitely gets better and gayer. id like to see u react to this more!

Iliad

I hope you can time it with March episode coming out so that you can avoid spoilers; I'd love to see you continue this solely on the basis of the series alone but I'm almost 100% sure that spoilers will be way too hard to avoid without being caught up by then. It's gonna be everywhere, tagged or not. Some food for thought.

MacGuffin

Okay I really enjoyed that! I think I'm gonna like this show.

Jacob Young

I’m sorry for asking . I know it’s a side series so been patient and haven’t said anything. But any news on demon slayer ? Been a month since last upload . Thought I’d ask . 💜

Thijs

YES OMG ITS HERE! LETS GO

Thijs

i pray to god if this show does good on there channel that one day they will check out amphibia

Jenny D
>>92173643

The first season 3 special is actually coming out in a few weeks!

Azi

This show has a lot of great humor that I think you guys would enjoy. It gets more interesting the farther you go into the show.

Zora Brightwood

BTW If you watch the series keep an ear out for Katara's voice actress. Also, Eda's Voice Actress is named Wendi Malick

PuccaLover15

I love both this show and The Dragon Prince, so which ever one you choose, I would be super ok with, especially since new seasons will be coming out soon. Owl House gets crazier and more amazing as you watch it. And, like Korra, you'll be using a "This is Not a Kid's Show" counter.

Megan Griffin

I'm absolutely soooo excited to see you guys do owl house. THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD AND IT ONLY GETS BETTER! My #1 pick for sure out of all the new shows you are trying. Dragon Prince falling into second place.

Random Gal

My vote for The Owl House! I adore this show! And I honestly think that the first episode is the worst that the show has to offer. It just goes up from here and I can’t wait to see you react to the rest of it! :D

Kara

Ahhhhhh, I'm gonna cryyyyy!!!!

miserableplebs

THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD PLEASE DO CONTINUE WITH IT 🥰🥰

Timon Pike

Compared to where the show goes, it is a weak start, but I'm excited to see you dive into it. It's such a unique and amazing show that had to battle execs to keep going and be as awesome and queer as it is.

fr0st

There will be a lot of fun theorizing about the magical system on this one later. Keen to see if you can hear another familiar voice actor later on.

sebastionLender

please watch this series its one of the best things since she-ra

Asha Hayes

The owl house truly is an amazing show! And the last season comes out in like 20 days so you wouldn't really have to wait to finish it ^^ But regardless of what show wins i'll still be happily watching along!

Ganaroth Les

I always try to tell people who are starting on this journey the following: The first season is pretty good, especially the back half. But the second season? The second season is legendary.

Haverian

Such a great show! The Owl House is truly something special. I had originally gone into it a little hesitantly, but the first episode really captured me and I was immediately hooked.

Stephen Ray

This show is so charming. I'd love to keep watching this with you.

Krystal Dean

I think there's so much a little later on that you guys will love analyzing and figuring out the shape of! This show definitely gets my vote!

kai
>>92198120

find their post about their plans for september, they discuss what’s going on with demon slayer in there !

Camryn

Love this show so much! Re-subscribed because I saw that y’all were doing it!

ItzYourBoi

Owlhouse! I love this show and would love to see yall watch it through

Ganaroth Les

Is this a gay show: Hahahaahahaha yes.

FainterMovie

I loved your reaction, really hope you continue with this series.

Dagadtdio

I loved your reaction, really hope you continue with this series.

MacGuffin

I binged the entire two series after watching the first episode with you. I really hope you'll continue The Owl House. It's amazing!

Megan Griffin

Please keep reacting to owl house!!

mantis toboggan

i vote owl house because it's the gayest one of the three LOL <3

pedro meneghin

hi guys, why this reaction is released for tier 2, but the dragon prince one isn't?

B Luna

owl house!!! so excited to see you reacting to this first episode :)

Zakk

Not a spoiler. Fun fact the voice actor for king is the same voice actor as Bill Cypher from gravity falls. And the creator of galravity falls is friends with the actor of owl house so there are small Easter eggs throughout the entire show. Something I didn't learn until my 3rd watch through

Maria

I've been waiting for you guys to start reacting to this show!! The lore and the humor is amazing!

Ben Sutton

So hopeful that Owl House is chosen! Just watched S3 E1 this weekend and already have thoughts as to how they would react if they get to it.

Jules

Owl House hype!

Malea Probus

The witch reminds me of A bugs life, like the lady qho voices the queen ant.

Cassandra Nightshade

why do you guys never watch things with subtitles? I was so hyped when i saw the subtitles the first 3 seconds and then they were gone :(
