Recurring Issue: Anger over incorrect reactions (Patreon)

Hello all! So I’m just posting this to ask y’all for some advice tbh.

More and more recently, we get comments on YouTube posts that are legit angry we make incorrect predictions. Sexism towards Montana, insults, and calls that we don’t pay attention are kinda common on posts where I allow wrong predictions to occur, and I find it baffling since youtube viewers are literally there for blind reactions, but I’m kinda sick of negativity. It happens on here too to a lesser degree (that’s sugar coating it tbh), but frankly it makes me want to remove large incorrect predictions from videos (which I could easily do, but choose not to because you all want the actual extended version).

Do you all think I should take out incorrect predictions from YouTube? Because we received negativity on the post with Doctor Knox today, and that was AFTER I removed my son theory. I assume it would be WWIII if GOD FORBID I put together details to make a theory about who his dad is haha.

Sorry for the rant, but I’m kinda tired. To those who don’t do this, I’m 100% not talking to you, and you’re amazing.

Let the haters hate. Incorrect predictions allow for discussions in the comments and for others to help explain things that many of us didn’t catch or understand the first time! As long as these comments aren’t seriously threatening you both or your mental well-being then I vote to keep them in

We are here to watch YOU react. Predictions are a huge part of watching shows. Especially ones that have mysteries like FMAB… If they don’t like when you get things wrong and want to throw a fit, I don’t think they should be watching reactions in the first place

No, saying than a prediction is "incorrect" is a spoiler onto itself, and should be treated as such regardless of their intent at a minimum, but with intent in mind it should be treated with harsh punishment and actions

the people leaving hate are absolute morons, the whole point of reaction videos is to watch along and see you guys’ point of view while watching the show. Theories and predicts are all part of it and obviously some are gonna be wrong. People act as if they’ve never watched a show for the first time themselves

NO. Don't listen to a salty minority who only live by crushing others. You're predictions may be correct or incorrect, but who cares? That's totally the point of watching a show, trying to guess what will happen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. But for the 99% of people who watch your content, as me, we live to see you go into improbable direction sometimes, it can also be fun because : when the truth is revealed, it makes you dumbfounded even more and that's nice to see you get surprised. So TLDR, stay true to yourselves, delete trash comments (like insults) and allow us to go with you on those journeys. Love ❤️

Do not give in to the haters, you having theories is part of the fun, i mostly watch shows with you guys that i HAVEN’T seen myself, and its really fun exploring the ideas. Please never change that aspect because some assholes, they are a very small vocal minority. I have been watching you guys since the tiktok ATLA days! I loved your theories on AOT especially, (whatching it for the first time too with you it was awesome!) and how you slowly pieced it together. Its my personal opinion that its an integral part of the reactions that i love, the discussions and the psychology aspects from montana all come together to form your own style and i think i speak for the majority when i say, DO NOT give in to haters! I don’t think you should remove them. It’s all part of Montana’s and your raw reactions; it shows your thought process in how you perceive the events/foreshadowing of FMA and other shows. I think including correct AND incorrect predictions is part of what makes watching people react to media entertaining— see the different perspectives on media we all enjoy. People seem to forget that, when the show or manga were new, EVERYONE made incorrect predictions, particularly with plot-dense shows like FMA. Maybe you can 'gamify' the predictions in a way that makes wrong predictions fun too... Like maybe a tally or list of your predictions as you go along and at the conclusion you can go over the best and worst predictions or theories you had. For me, half the fun has been watching fall down fun and funny rabbit holes and then get the realization of what is ACTUALLY going on later =). Just keeping being you!

Yeah, they're dumb for hating on incorrect predictions. There is not an easy answer to this, especially since you are BOTH blind reacting. I know this might not be helpful but it seems like it is up to you to determine how much you want to put up with. Small predictions that are proven wrong or right within an episode or two don't seem like their a big deal (none of them should be a big deal, they are predictions). But those might be the easiest to edit out, idk. What I don't understand is how people chose to watch something, almost half a series or more, and then hate on it. It is all part of what is enjoyable about it. Re-watching it along side others and seeing how they enjoy it and what they think about it.

The whole point of watching reaction videos (for me at least and I assume others as well) is to watch your genuine reactions and hear your theories and predictions, whether they’re correct or incorrect. I’m sorry you’ve been getting such negativity in your comments. I think you should keep doing what you’re doing and try to ignore the negativity (although I recognize this is not always easy).

I say leave them in. While I do find incorrect predictions mildly irritating in some instances, voicing those thoughts should be framed as constructive criticism rather than outright hate. If I can't suggest a way for you and Montana to do something better, I'm going to keep my mouth shut, and so should everyone else.

Personally I wouldn’t change your format in any way to appease these trolls. If you conform to what the haters want, you’ll likely experience burnout quicker and dislike the overall reaction experience at some point. Do what you feel is best and authentic to you and your true audience of followers will stick with you. Those negative comments will pass. I would block those hateful comments (obviously there’s a difference between disliking an opinion and spreading hate) so use your best judgement. Also, have you guys considering hiring a moderator? Even just to try it out for a few months, but having that separation might be good for your mental health.

It is tough because putting up with those people are (much) more than a nuisance, but it is also the point of what you are doing. I have never run a channel like this and I am sure you've already blocked the worse of them, but that is the best and first solution I think of. But keep up the good work! I hope not too much changes on here.

I'm sorry that this has happened to you guys, this is just one of the many problems with the Internet and social media. Personally, I enjoy the segments where you pause and predict what might happen, no matter how wrong or right you are. I feel like sometimes you might read into things too closely, but that's never something to criticise. If you feel it's affecting you both negatively, I 100% feel that this should be addressed in a more serious way

I wouldn't necessarily want you to remove the predictions from YT (incorrect or otherwise) but I can see why you'd want to and support your decision to do so if ya'll do. The way I see it, so long as you leave/advertise them as 'bonus content for Patrons' I think it's a potential win-win for ya'll. Less negativity and potential extra draw to check out the patreon.

that’s sad to hear and i hope that’s not the norm and that stuff like that will happen less but knowing „people“ it probably won’t. i personally rather enjoy listening to your predictions. obviously they will not all turn out to be correct but that’s really why i watch you guys. because i like hearing your ideas and thoughts and obviously when i watch shows for the first time i make wrong predictions which btw is a hallmark of a great show, i mean what good is a show if i can predict the end of it after watching the first episode. since you asked for advice i think the only helpful advice would be, as useless as it sounds, to just ignore no-good trolls and try focusing on constructive and positive feedback. there have been cases when i thought an aspect of your reaction could’ve been improved, but in those cases i try to articulate some constructive criticism as i’m sure you would appreciate. thing is on the internet everyone talks a big game because there are almost always no consequences, other than bans or reporting of profiles. i’m sorry for a noisy minority that takes the fun out of this for you guys but let me assure you that most people really appreciate the time and effort you put into these reactions and appreciates the work of you both greatly. have a nice day and see you soon, kenny. don’t let yourself get down. you deserve better than to let this ruin your day

I've never had to deal with a problem like this before. The internet is full of tons of trolls and ppl who just want to be mean. Dont take it too heart. However I would say if it is getting under your skin or causing you issues then maybe you should remove it. There are tons of ppl (myself included) who love to see your unfiltered blind reactions and All of your predictions. But if ppl are getting under your skin then it's not worth it. The last thing we want is for this to have a negative impact on your mental health.

People will find reasons to be angry no matter what. I think its important to remember that and unfortunately nothing you do will stop it 100 percent. I think some ways you can fix it would be something like text cheekily saying you are future kenny and now know how wrong you are. I think if you completely take something out its a bit hard. This is why a few days ago I suggested the pre episode recap of what you know and everything. That too might assage some people. "We had this theory that was really far out but by the end of the episode we saw it was wrong." "our patreons clarified this" or something like that. That has an issue that it may have youtube complain about patreons spoiling even if they havent.

I think the wild theories are funny and how adamant you were about them was just icing on the cake. I do see how someone who has watched the show could be protective of Knox knowing what they know. He is pretty selfless other than the complaining he does the whole time he helps.

I’m really sorry you have to deal with that type of hate, sometimes it’s truly a lose-lose situation for you; you either guess correctly and get hate from people saying that you prewatched the show or get hate for taking a theory the supposed “wrong way”. I feel that the more popular you become you will unfortunately start receiving more and more hate from those types of people. As someone who pays to watch these videos in their entirety, I would hate it if you removed those types of discussion. If it becomes a huge issue I say it’s fair to remove it from YouTube, I know you said that some hate comes from Patreon as well but I can’t imagine people like that sticking around for long and paying you if they’re mostly going to complain (although I suppose hate watching is a thing so idk.) Do whatever you think is right, personally I find it incredibly stupid to assume you both will come up with the correct answer all the time. I’ll always keep watching whether your theory’s are right or wrong, that’s what makes watching blind reactions fun!

i think your predictions are some of my favorite parts of your reactions, whether they’re correct or not, because it’s so interesting to see your thought processes on these shows. I definitely think you should keep them in and I’m so sorry that people are reacting in such terrible ways to these honestly harmless predictions. Maybe you should put a disclaimer about it in your videos before the reaction, saying that the predictions may not always be correct but that doesn’t give people any right to be so outright rude about them.

I personally think that would be catering to the negativity and people who like to be antagonistic will find other ways to do so. The rest of us who like hear ALL your theories (whether they’re wrong or not) may be disappointed. I actually prefer when predictions are wrong because I like when people can’t see aspects of the story coming and are surprised. You guys have made a lot of predictions and I can think of ONE that you haven’t made and that makes me even more excited for its reveal. All-in-all your theories are well thought out and people just suck sometimes. It’s easier said than done to “ignore the negativity” but just remember there are some of us out there that will have your back and don’t be shy about deleting comments 😉

I don’t mind the incorrect predictions, I love the passion you guys put into your predictions, weather they are right or wrong. What I have been noticing recently, especially in the series you both are blind reacting to, is you start discussing or talking while the scene is still going on and miss a key bit of dialogue or action because you’re talking about your idea/theory. Either pause and discuss or wait for the mid episode break. I think that would avoid a lot of the issues.

Sad thing is that on the internet negative comments are usually made just to get a reaction ( like people searching up music on youtube just to comment that it sucks etc.) i would not consider them "valid criticism" they are mostly inflammatory for the sake of being inflammatory and not really trying to provide anything to the creator. keep going strong! to the people being shitty towards you even here on patreon: realize you are talking to real people! people who put in real effort into what they do, you are allowed to have an opinion but you need to realize WHAT you are watching and how your attitude affects the creator. if you see an actual issue that you would like corrected, provide constructive criticism .. not hate! .. and please be kind!

Personally, I enjoy the incorrect predictions they tend to be pretty funny to hear, I think the videos would be blander if there weren't predictions. People really shouldn't make a big deal about them, I'm sure when they first saw the shows they had some incorrect predictions of their own, I know I did.

This is so saddening to hear about and please know that we all encourage you to do what's best for your mental health! Obviously there's no perfect solution for the vileness of internet comments, but I think other reactors have had some good ideas for tackling some of these issues and preventing burnout/negativity exposure. It might be worth reaching out to other channels and asking how they handle it? For example, I know some reactor channels have moderators, similar to like on twitch, who screen comments for spoilers and trolls in the initial release and give the greenlight for the reactors to go through and reply once the garbage has been thrown out? That way, the emotional burden the trolls wanted to hand to you is never delivered. That might not be possible for you, though. But I still think it might be worth it to reach out to some of your youtube colleagues and see if they can offer any insight or support!

Like in the series where Kenny had already seen it and Montana was trying to talk or discuss something, Kenny could say to wait or keep watching and knew where a good place to discuss it. With both blind reacting, they don’t have that and sometimes discuss things over the scene still playing out and miss something because of it. Then they create a theory without the info they missed that’s "wrong" and I think that’s why people are reacting the way they are.

You are watching something for the first time. You have no familiarity with the source or the 2003 anime, so naturally you don't know what is coming. No reason to take offense or engage with kind of people that attack your guesses and theories, I'm sure they had bad guesses their first time. Sometimes you guys will miss a detail in an episode that explains something that you start theorizing about later in the episode, but that can't be helped since you are doing a reaction and engaging with each other, you can't catch everything. If you are concerned about those people, maybe put a reminder at the video start that it is a blind reaction, you don't know what is coming, you can only guess. Naturally those guess can be wrong.

I've actually never minded the incorrect predictions, I've offered clarification where I felt they were really going off the rails, but I'm really trying to dial that back. That being said, I've never understood getting legitimately angry about you all being wrong, and I find it really disgusting that people would take it farther than that. Sorry that it's happening for you both. Is there anything that can be done in YouTube besides turning off comments, because I know that's probably not an option.

Many reactors will catch something during editing that they missed in filming and make a text note to the effect of "oops, missed this, will remember it going forward", etc.

I made reactions to Arcane on my channel a while ago and I ended up deleting any super rude comments. Then I stopped reading comments altogether. It was MUCH better for my mental health. You could get a mod to go through and delete the really bad comments if you don't want to read them. On here, I say block, block, block. The extra money isn't worth your mental health, I promise. Sorry you're having issues like this, but I hope you don't give in to the bullies. Keep in any and everything you want to keep!

As someone who is been around for a bit not as long as those who watched ATAL and LOK, I loved seeing your reactions. Some of the stuff you watch is my first time seeing it as well so its entertaining to see if we have the same predictions or not. I would say that if it keeps going or gets worse just do a public announcement video towards this problem. I would make sure that when addressing these people one make sure not to include accounts obviously and two let them know that you have no background information. There is no lore that you know of before hand it's a completely blind reaction so of course you're going to get predictions wrong as you are going off what has been shown within the show. As for the sexism against Montana I suppose you ask her how she wants to handle it. Personally I would tell them these comments are not appropriate and that while she might not know a lot of film elements or animation that shes learning and that she is very smart when it comes down to analyzing a character and their actions as well as motivations. I dont know if anyone else felt it but I was ecstatic when Montana was able to tell the difference between CGI and 2D drawing in the Legend of Korra.

Man, some people really suck. Sorry to hear they’ve made you feel ashamed like this. Tbh it might be worth it to look into getting more mods for your comment section to keep these hateful people out. I wouldn’t suggest cutting those portions of your videos because honestly that’s part of your reaction and I feel like keeping them as authentic as possible is the way to go. But if things ever get too out of hand, you could definitely try it just to see if that helps. Or even disable the comment section, if things ever get TOO bad. I hope it never has to come to that tho 😕 Regardless, you’re both awesome and deserve all the support you can get. Looking forward to more reactions and stuff from y’all this month for sure 👍

I don't know why you even give attention to the negative comments. Your channel is growing, you will always get a mixed bag of reactions. I hope you didn't assume that you would never get into this situation. It takes tough skin to be a public figure, even if it's just reacting to stuff on the internet. Anyone who builds a public following will have naysayers. Insults are inevitable. Even the most praised celebrities get terrible things said about them from some people. Heck, not even the President of the United States can escape harsh criticism and mean spirited comments, be it Democrat or Republican. You gotta have thick skin if you wanna be at the top. Sometimes ya'll talk over plot points and miss them and don't put two and two together. But so what? It's your first time watching the show. I still watch because I like your personalities. I'm not gonna tell you what to do with your channel, but I would say, try not to make another post about negative comments unless it's reached critical mass and you feel you've said something to alienate a large portion of your audience. Address it as damage control only, not to vent. Just focus on your content and not the negativity. Let your audience believe that the channel is going fine and you are not being affected by nasty people. Because trust and believe, the negative comments will not end just because you brought awareness to how it affects you. If you continue to do blind reactions, there will be more bad predictions to come, new viewers will come and some will be frustrated. So what? Don't change nothing. That's what comes with blind reactions. Constructive criticism is worth paying attention to. Not mean and nasty people.

Your Father=Hohenheim prediction drove me crazy but that's the fun of watching you guys, because it was so entertaining when you finally got confirmation that they weren't the same. I think its a complicated issue with no correct answer. All you can do is find ways to mitigate the negativity. The more your audience grows the louder the negativity becomes. Reactions are all about broadcasting what you think. As such, a lot of people watch reactions to see certain reactions. Not necessarily because they want to hear what YOU have to say. Which is a weird thing to say... I think the best way to look at it, is you have different audiences watching your show. Your core audience watches to hear what YOU have to say. To enjoy YOUR thoughts and YOUR reactions. I dare say some, watch all your content, not because they like the show, but because they like YOU. You can't cripple your own reactions to appease those who aren't engaged with your product, at the cost of those who come to watch the two of you. So please don't compromise, filter, or censor your reactions to appease an audience that simply put, cannot be appeased. Right now, we exist on an internet that has a significant group of people who want to be offended. They want to attack. They want to tear down and destroy. The amount of shows targeted unnecessarily... is heartbreaking. Just look at the Rings of Power, or She-Hulk, or a great many more. Its inescapable. Being a light in the dark is, probably, not about removing the darkness from your audience, but shining in spite of the darkness in your audience.

And honestly, those type of people have nothing else in life going for them (probably no friends, can't look people in the eye, real life frightens them, numb to loneliness) so they create unnecessary contention just to feel something. While I can’t say their feelings are completely unfounded, the way they express those feelings are ridiculous. Like yeah there were a couple times when Kenny was drinking the kool aid a little too hard and choked, but it’s nothing to be mad over. I honestly think people just get way too defensive over a show they love. Which I get, you want the people watching your favorite show to like it and not bash it and if you’re confused you might not like it and that could suck, but just keep doing what you guys do for yourselves and whatever you can tolerate/ what makes you happy.

So, I understand that it is easier to say "Ignore the assholes" than it is to do it. But one of the highlights of your Attack on Titan reaction was the incorrect but interesting theories. And the Dr. Knox thing was an interesting theory (based on faulty assumptions, but I enjoyed hearing it). So I would really hope you can leave your theorizing in. Man that really sucks to hear. You guys are literally just having fun watching shows with us and make a living doing something you two enjoy. Sucks that there are harsh comments on here considering the people on here are arguably big fans of the content. I’d say a couple things, not to sound harsh at all, but someone mentioned talking over plot points in the show (even though as a first time watcher, how are you supposed to know when something important is about to be said) could maybe be brought down a tiny bit? Thought this is a gripe I have with most reaction channels on youtube, so it’s not a “Letts React” specific thing. As for leaving theories out of the video on youtube, you could try that! If anything, it’s more enticing for people who aren’t subscribed on patreon to want to see the extended cuts. Something you two could maybe try and do is not do too much theorizing in between segments and just talk about whats happening. I think a big portion of the AOT fun was hearing what Montana as a first time watcher was thinking, but you were there to dial the crazy theories back a bit, which was fun without being super hard for people to watch. Again it’s not a bad thing cause at the end of the day you two are just having FUN, and I’d hate to see comments like these rude ones make you guys enjoy a show less out of fear of saying something wrong. As a viewer, I can kind of tell you two are enjoying FMAB, but not LOVING it (I promise everything from here on out is wild) just comparing your reactions to other series, so please don’t let this stop you guys from watching other shows in the future that you may not be 100% invested in. Im not gunna say “ignore the comments” cause as a content creator, you literally have to read the comments in order to properly engage with your fan base. Even if you don’t respond to bad ones, I’m sure they affect your mental state to a degree. If things keep on getting worse, try turning off comments on the FMAB videos for now. Keep up the good work, you both should feel proud that you have this many people interested in what you have to say, cause at the end of the day, that’s what your channel is. I wish the YouTube audience got as much enjoyment with the interesting but incorrect theories. Maybe they need an example. Is there anyway to have Chris look at the first edit so he can add in an “interesting idea” counter. This way it can read as facetious when the predictions are wrong but genuine when they are correct. This way you have someone that knows adding input in a way that wouldn’t spoil things for you.

it's 100% unfair for people to be angry about incorrect predictions, considering this is a blind reaction and you're not supposed to be able to guess things just from what you've seen. even if you misinterpret something (the dr knox mixup), you would've eventually figured it out, so it's not really something that should anger anyone. but again, it's the internet and there's dumbasses at every corner. i, for one, absolutely love seeing your theories and i tend to dwell over how impressive it is when you get it right than when you get it wrong. especially in regards to fmab, which is just a giant mystery on top of an even bigger mystery till the end of the show. it isn't easy to guess what the direction of the show is going your first time around, but you guys have probably been right more often than you have been wrong, so i don't see why everyone is so pressed about the wrong parts. as for what you should do, i feel like a lot of the comments above have already pretty much summed up my thoughts. if it's detrimental to your mental health, then you should absolutely do what makes you feel most comfortable, even if that means blocking the comment section.

I'd suggest, if at all possible, to have someone else deal with the comments for you or ignore them. People will always be shitty about stuff and honestly I've seen every single reactor say stuff about this kind of thing so I don't know if it's a problem that will ever fully go away. Having someone else look at comments, pass on anything useful or lovely and ignore or post a standard reply to shitty ones might be the only sane way forward. That's for YT since you can actually have way more control on patreon but could apply to both.

This isn't a place of work. It's the internet; a broad and open forum full of anonymity. As a public figure you should not allow yourself to be deeply affected by what some random people say. Period. Why? Because you cannot control this kind of environment. You can't go to HR, you can't call on any entity to make it stop. Mentioning that it affects you is one thing you can do, but it's not going to stop those who watch but don't like the channel. All you can do is focus of building your platform and your fans. You can't be allowing yourself to be broken by some negative comments. You must redirect your focus. Every Youtuber should understand the nature of their work before getting into it. Negative comments comes with the territory but so does a lot of positivity.

I would say ignore the negative comments entirely and continue to do what you're doing and what you want to be doing with your channel. If people have a problem with it, they'll stop watching and you have no obligation to care what they think. Never feel any need to change how you approach a creative endeavour because of what anyone says - it's your channel, you make it how you want it.

I think there's a degree of suspicion that comes naturally when someone gets major plot points right long before they are revealed or anything in the show is really hinting towards it. I notice that sometimes Kenny's predictions are REALLY spot on and it makes me wonder if he's seen it already or read spoilers. But since I can't prove it and will not dedicate my time to that. I just assume he didn't see it and is just really good at figuring a show out. I wouldn't go as far as insult either of them though.

Moderator(s) might help. It sucks that it would be necessary, but that can help pare down some of the BS happening in the comments on YT. For what it's worth, I think the incorrect theories are fun - we've all been there with different series as we experience them the first time, and being incorrect doesn't mean attention wasn't being paid. Love your reactions and theories, correct or otherwise.

My day job deals in Community Management, and all I can recommend is to get a moderator if that's financially feasible for you. Otherwise, you can always add something to your broiler plate opening, maybe tacked onto the Patreon plug, explaining this reaction is blind and context outside of what you two have watched is low. I've seen this either makes people less empowered to scream about their incorrect feelings because it's in EVERY VIDEO (plus, it gives the good folks a quick thing to jump in on to call them out with.)

I forgot to add to my earlier comment that urging people to respond to them or responding to them yourself will have the opposite effect. Sadly, it's how the internet and trolls work: the more you feed them, the more they are engaged and repeat the behaviour. If you have a third party just ignore them or respond the way a customer service person would, you deprive them of the reaction they're looking for and they will eventually go away. If you engage, they'll be back for more or continue to try and provoke you for the reaction.

I’d say keep them in. It also provides an opportunity to respond to your own incorrect predictions once the show is over. While I don’t think it’s necessary, another option is to just have a disclaimer about predictions at the beginning.

I think it's time to hire a mod to comb through comments on YT before you roll in. I know that you enjoy interacting with your audience but there's a certain degree in which a third eye can help tell you when a commenter is being a dick to be a dick, wording it wrong, has some sort of double standard, and other motions along the spectrum. I don't know that with how much it's been happening (must be a lot and consecutively for it to bother you like that) that it would get better before at least a one run through by someone you traut to have your and the channels better judgement in mind.

The negative comments about that can just be thought of as feeding the algorithm to get people who actually lile your content to you. Absolutely don't remove incorrect predictions, you're 100% right about the point of blind reactions (and partially blind ones, like a lot of AoT was when Montana was still catching up), plus you're both extremely intelligent and even when your predictions are wrong they're always fascinating and fun to think about. I genuinely cannot understand what is going on in the heads of people who hate on this, I don't know why they're here at all (ESPECIALLY the ones on Patreon, who are apparently... giving you money just for a chance to be assholes?) but they could really stand to just... absolutely shut the entire fuck up. The predictions have been very interesting and since the reaction is blind a few wrong guesses are to be expected. I think some people forget part of the fun is coming up with theories with the information you have and expanding on it as new information is revealed as they watch more.

Say you did change up your editing so that you took out all the incorrect guesses or misunderstood character motivations; I 100% 'would bet every penny in my bank account' GUARANTEE you that those exact same people would be sending you those exact same type of comments, only they'd be calling you 'fake reactors' who have 'clearly seen the show before'. There's just no pleasing some people, and I think what you're experiencing is just an unfortunate side-effect of being any kind of personality on the internet, rather than anything really to do with what you're producing. I just want to add the caveat that you'll likely get negative criticism regardless. People can just be trolls and haters. I'd imagine that if you only keep in correct predictions, then you'll get comments about being spoiled or your reactions being fake. Tbh, you can't win with people online. With that said, please do what feels right for you to prevent burnout and keep your mental and emotions safe. :)

First off, you should both do whatever you think is fun and entertaining! WE all have a short life so make sure you are enjoying yourselves while watching these episodes. Secondly, this is the internet, and sadly people can say/do whatever they want behind the keyboard. No matter how great the content is, people will find something to complain about. A single hair out of place? Bet it'll be called out upon. Simply saying, "Don't let it effect you", is much easier said than done. Sometimes the predictions you make are wildly off. That's fine! That's why they are called predictions. If you both enjoy them, then do it!

I think that when a channel is growing you attract an audience that isn't really loyal and they tend to go away over time. I haven't been on the youtube comments in your videos much but I haven't seen much negativity. I'm not sure if angry comments are filtered or deleted but I think for the most part all you can really do is ignore it. The anime community go in hard and can be very mean over tiny little things, like just the fact that you watch the dub will extremely enrage some people. I personally like your predictions and like to see how off or on you are. It's also a two edged sword. If you remove predictions or if they always seem correct you may get even more angry people. People kind of suck but my honest advice and opinion is just keep doing what you're doing and you'll find a good audience and whenever you see anything negative try to remember we as an audience like you and we're taking the time out of our day to watch your reactions often as a way of reliving the anime feeling like we're watching it with friends who provide a new perspective. The general audience has a lot more love for you than the vapid people hate watching your videos.

That is awful, Kenny and Montana. I'm so sorry that you have to go through all that. Honestly, you should do whatever makes you most comfortable. I love hearing all your predictions - whether they turn out to be correct or not - because a lot of times I watch shows blind with you guys and I theorize with you. I would love for you to leave them in and just be yourselves, but if it's affecting your moods or worse - your mental health, you should do whatever you can to keep this channel fun for you guys. I like many others love you guys and the videos you make. Honestly, your videos give me such joy after a long day of working or college. Do whatever you have to to stay safe and happy <3

I wish everything in your life could be rainbows and sunshine but that’s impossible so just grow up and tolerate their reactions the same way they tolerate your predictions. You have a public platform so it’s essential you develop the fortitude to deal with and engage the public. If occasionally venting your feeling to us helps then I fully support that, but being naive about how the internet works does not engender genuine sympathy. this is the problem honestly. it's not that you can't have differing opinions, it's the fact that people serve them up in the nastiest way. like, who hurt you? cuz, you just decided to put your own shit on display by being so angry. this is their first time going through this as influencers. even if they understood about it from the viewer side of it by hearing from other influencers, its a much different reality going through it the first time. ppl just want to be nasty to be nasty, prob cuz someone was nasty to them with not empathy so this is their way of dealing with it instead of learning better communication & having empathy. oh, and PS, no those ppl DON'T have to tolerate his predictions cuz they can literally go to another channel where ppl react to things and have perfect predictions, no one is forcing you to watch kenny and montana's content.

I’m not angry or being nasty, I’m just responding to his post, which is what he requested. I think this illuminates the problem though - when people don’t like what someone says they impute all these negative motivations to the post that don’t exist. For example, consider how many posts he may consider misogynistic that don’t have an ounce of misogynistic intent? You have to be honest with people, otherwise what’s the point of posting anything. However, you can’t mistake a lack of constant effusion with anger or toxicity. If Kenny and I were sitting in a bar and he told me how he was feeling I would’ve said the same thing, not patronized him like he’s five. That’s the respect that adults should show each other.

Text doesn't convey tone, so yeah people infer tone into text based on their own mental state. We don't actually know you, nor you us; we're not friends and we're not sitting in a bar, we are basically complete strangers with at least a few apparent shared interests. Sure, we see Kenny in videos so we can at least have a version of him we can put behind his text, but that is not a two way street. He doesn't actually know any of us (probably), and I'm pretty sure if any of us actually knew him that well then we wouldn't be talking to him here anyway. Without tone or context or mutual understanding, it is pretty easy to phrase things in a way that sound perfectly reasonable to the sender and come off way more hostile or negative to other people. There is a ton of guesswork involved in communicating online that we all have to deal with. Just something to take into consideration.

It is, I would say, complicated. Where to start. A somewhat common occurrence in reaction videos are what I would call, "Just wait 10 seconds" moments. Which as the name might imply are times when the reactor starts to speculate or comment (because of course they are that it the whole point) on something that most viewers know will be cleared up in about 10s. This can be a mixture of frustrating and funny, though I'd say more often than not it is funny once the creator realizes the irony. Where I would say it leans more into frustrating is when the reactor appears to talk over the critical information, and then moves on apparently missing the context. As I think you've mentioned, that kind of thing can often get caught in editing, but it can still be frustrating as a viewer. More so if the reactor then continues down a wildly incorrect path due to the missing information. Some of this is also just a result of bad timing. If you happen to watch say, three episode in one sitting and a misunderstanding occurs during the first episode, we might have two full episodes of wildly off base speculation before the misunderstanding gets cleared up on video. Most people probably aren't reading comments too carefully (it is pretty hard on this platform), so it might even seem to viewers as if you are not listening to the corrections during this period, even when you are, which is just a completely unfair situation to put you in. While I certainly can't speak for everyone, I would venture a guess that most of the people here are trying to be helpful even if that isn't always easy to communicate. Personally I don't usually mind wrong predictions, although I will fully admit the Dr Knox thing got to me. I can't say for sure why, maybe it just so happened to be a perfect story of wild speculation and bad timing. Then again, that last scene has always seemed weird to me too and probably lacking a little more context that we simply never got in the anime. Anyway, those are my unnecessarily long general thoughts on the matter. It's complicated and there is no easy answer.

All very thoughtful and rational. One addendum - as strangers, we’re not friends; however, what went unsaid is that we’re not enemies either. I focus more on that fact and take for granted that if we weren’t strangers we would be friends. It makes it easier to have grace and give people the benefit of the doubt. Assuming people are malevolent and attacking you is psychologically unhealthy. I’m naturally an extremely passive person so I don’t take offense to much and would be generally dismissive of deliberate attempts to offend me, so maybe my inability to relate to people who bellyache about online aggression biases my perspective. I still believe the “buck up and stop whining” perspective is important for people to hear.

I'd honestly a) keep them in an b) don't care at all about bad comments. Those people are strangers, most likely even trolls that only have the goal of upsetting you. Ignoring them is the best and most important thing you can do. Don't allow strangers to control your feelings, better laugh at their pathetic effort to make you angry or sad. Even better, even if the comments are bad, interaction helps your videos get more spread ;)

I'm not sure if you read my comment or will read this but I want to say I am sorry if it sounded like I was dismissing or taking away from what you are experiencing. As a viewer I honestly don't know if there is anything you can do to curb the comments. I think, if you can, maybe try speaking to another creator you know on a personal level for advice. I personally hope you continue to be yourselves and theorize in your videos.

Someone got mad because I didn’t contribute to the “oh, poor baby” head-patting of grown adults who are about to get married and raise children. “Whining” was just an example. No matter what you do there will always be people that will react negatively to it. Do what you feel is best for you- not what is best to appease other people (especially if those people are quick to be mean). Foster a community of people you like by sticking to doing things the way you like. I don't think it's wise to engage with these negative comments even if you're not directly doing it. Any sort of confrontation is kind of adding fuel to their already hostile behavior. The people who make the choice to be toxic aren't the kind of people that have the maturity to admit they were wrong for acting that way. Personally, I like hearing your theories even if you end up being wrong. If anything I actually prefer when you're wrong because then it adds to the excitement when you find out the truth.
