That Ferris wheel story is so funny Kenny LOL I remember when my family went on vacation to I think Georgia? we went to a place called Stone mountain, and they have these like lifts that take you all the way up the mountain, and then you can stand on top of the mountain and I don't know be happy or have fun or whatever LOL but I was so totally down to go on top of the mountain to take photos, and we got on the lift...but as soon as it started moving I went into absolute shambles..I buried my head in my mother's lap, I was sobbing, I was shaking and some random guy on the lift with us was trying to distract me with magic and I was having no part of it LMAO and then we got to the top of the mountain I was apparently totally fine but it was traumatizing AF 🤣

"This is what being homeschooled feels like" omg I'm dying

Lucas Barros

That voice change at the intro really took me off guard xD

J. Jenny Jameson

I wouldn't say eps 1-14 are BAD, just... safe. It's not until you get into season 2 that you can see just how ambitious the creators really wanted to be. Feels like the brakes come off in the next couple episodes.

I think you'll both see that the quality of the show will simply increase on all levels, but especially in character development. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's imho much more than just LGBTQ representation.

silver4spoon

its "just desserts" cause it sounds like "justice hurts" haha

PearseNation

I like these starting episodes as well, but they are much more episodic.

Hello There

montana’s hair looks so good omg

Nerains

finally done with all the "bad" episodes

Suplee215

I think the term "bad episodes" is incorrect for the first so. It's more an end of the episodic formating of the show. Which also was used as one fo the reasons it got "cancelled" the way it did. Disney wanted more episodic shows that are easier to rerun.

Nerains

after watching the question segment about nothing stopping luz from switching realms, remember, every piece of narrative fiction has a antagonist trying to get in the way of the protagonist

Historia-Europa

I am so looking forward to seeing their reaction of the next few episodes.

Did Karma or Fate know you were watching "Really Small Problems" to put you through so many tiny problems?

kai

i loooved these first episodes when i first watched them!! it's true that from 15 onward the show really stepped up for me, but it doesn't make these eps bad, and it was important to have them to get to know the characters. i am really excited for the upcoming episodes though :)

fr0st

Just starting watching but have to stop and comment: Montana's hair looks amazing in this one!

I can see it's getting a bit controversial with the filler nonsense, but here's my take: If you watched FMAB but it was just Al and Ed getting up to wacky standalone hijinx that are still fun and great to watch individually, and then got to the current plot, you'd have a good idea of why people think the next parts of this show are "better". I also really enjoy these episodes because they establish the world and characters before we go full tilt into some really cohesive and dark plotlines. Neither is better or worse, it will just seem very distinctly different when you look back over these episodes after getting through the rest of the show.

SweetCandle

"Just deserts" (no I didn't misspell that) isn't a play on anything. It's a somewhat rare use of the word desert to mean something that is deserved, in this case, justly.

Kara

What demon possessed Kenny when he said "I remember the thing" at 00:28? Lol! Also this is the last episode before Dana was able to have a larger role in running TOH, I can't wait for the next episodes!

fr0st

Living for Kenny's absolutely random vocalisations. "I remember the thing!" "The Oool Hooose" xD

Robin B

I feel like the would like Amphibia

Carlos Guzman

A HINT: 1 of those "Anime" images (possibly 2) in the Hall of Mirrors was foreshadowing the future. Betcha can't guess which one?

noname

imo there are no bad episodes of toh. they all serve some sort of purpose whether it be random entertainment or just introducing characters. however the show gets much more linear from here on out and when you finish the series you will look back and really notice the shift in quality once dana was able to do what she wanted. instead of saying you got the “bad episodes” out of the way, i’d say you’re now at the most anticipated parts of the first season. this is my first time commenting on patreon btw!

Maria

I loved the show since the beginning but I can see why people say that the beginning is slow but I think it's just so you fall in love with the characters and now the show is going to go through some events and we get to see those characters grow through the evolving plot. Can't wait for the rest of your reactions!

Light C

the friend who got me into the show warned me that I needed to stop watching at the end of season 1 because it goes from slice of life to very plot driven and she knew I didn't want to binge because I have no self control. I didn't listen and ended up watching it all in one day 😭

The Luz transformation was actually a Sailor Moon reference which She-Ra transforming was also a Sailor Moon reference. Sailor Moon made an entire genre out of cool transformation sequences. It would be awesome to react to that show at one point. I would suggest the 90s anime with the Viz dub. The original dub was terrible, but it has since been redubbed and it's good. It's a lot to take on since it's 200 episodes, but so worth it. I think you would love that series.
