Gravity Falls would be great after The Owl House.

VVenture

Fwiw on the intro Montana I’m pretty sure they updated both the visual animation to look better in terms of shading and the animation I believe is also animating on 1’s (24fps) instead of 2’s (animating at 12fps which is usually the norm)

Zerodeus

Swashbuckling means pirate stuff to me, mostly just because it's a term that I really only see in pirate related stories.

Suplee215

Swashbuckling totally means pirate stuff. It's either pirate stuff or Robin hood that I think of when I hear the word and both are similar in tropes and stuff. And buccaneer refers to pirates and is a Spanish origin word.

Suplee215

As for the show I'm partial to legends of vox machina especially this season. So much good parent interaction

Amaya Mix

swashbuckling is definitely only pirates

Robin Smith

The swashbuckling debate was denotation vs connotation. You were both right. The definition of swashbuckling is not specific to pirates, but the modern connotation is definitely tied up with pirates. That's mostly because the swashbuckling genre of films used to be much more popular and included things like Robin Hood movies and Zorro, but today the only swashbuckling movies that are still popular are pirate movies.

Kyasemi

Omg, I would totally recommend Kipo and the age of Wonderbeasts if you haven't already.

BlueEyedRaven

I know I sound like a broken record, but still would love to see you finish The Dragon Prince. But The Legend of Vox Machina is good too. Also, might consider the Harley Quinn animated series.

Geneva

Gravity falls, over the garden wall, RWBY

VexAndTrinket

I would love to see you guys react to The Legend of Vox Machina

Jenny D
>>101297396

I remember Kenny saying in a reply to one of my comments about Harley Quinn a while back that he’s seen the first two seasons and loved it, and I don’t think he said anything about Montana having watched any of it, so I’d love to see them react to that like they did with Avatar and Attack on Titan!

PearseNation

Legend of Vox Machina has gotten really really good and has fantastic voice acting. All the favorites with Laura Bailey (Lust in FMA), Travis Willingham (Mustang in FMA), and Grey Griffin (Azula).

Sarah

That whole swashbuckling conversation was hilarious haha. Anyway, swashbuckling definitely only applies to pirate stories

Timon Pike

Swashbuckling originates in the 1500-1600s when young nobles would wear their rapiers and bucklers around everywhere looking to get into duels and fights. The sound of the sword against the buckler was "swashbuckling". It then came to mean adventure/trouble-seeker. Popularized through The Three Musketeers and other adventure movies including pirate movies. Now days only Pirates of the Caribbean are really relevant so most people think it means pirates.

Răzvan Măriuță

I would love nothing more than to see your reaction to The Legend of Vox Machina.

Craig Payne

I'd love to see your reactions to Legend of Vox Machina, but I think it comes with what might be a very big trigger warning for Montana in the first episode: I think the blood and gore might be okay after Attack on Titan, but there's an early scene in particular that I think would be very unpleasant (and possibly one later on, although it's much more implied). It's always great to see your reactions fresh for both of you, but this might be a case where Kenny should at least watch until the end of the tavern brawl to gauge how Montana would handle it.

jolly

GRAVITY FALLS

jolly

STEVEN UNIVERSE!!

Scar

Definitely gravity falls after the owl house, then Amphibia

Scar

I’m surprised Kenny didn’t recognize the golden guards VA, Hawks from mha. Now I’m not sure if he’s gotten that far lol. Would love to see reactions for that after Death Note and Attack on titan

JHB

The default for "swashbuckling" isn't "piraty", it's "swordfights and derring-do", especially fast-moving fencing-type swordfights: think Robin Hood, The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers, Captain Blood, Pirates of the Caribbean, Zorro, probably about half of Errol Flynn's filmography, etc. And while he doesn't use a sword, Han Solo could fit within the sci-fi version. Seahawk from She-Ra definitely pictures himself as a swashbuckling adventurer.

Suplee215
>>101295002

Also I just remembered three musketeers. Certainly that vibe as well.

Suplee215
>>101305862

If it's the scene I'm thinking about with a gnomes introduction I thought it might not fit their channel too well but the arcane reaction they did was no issue

ItzYourBoi

Golden 'Knight' counter

Garrett Malone

Amphibia would be another great show to watch

Big K

I’ve always found the golden guard to act like he doesn’t care, but he does, y’know? Like he was putting on a show to scare his enemies

Big K

Gravity falls. Honestly you’ve gotta

Jenny D

What’s really incredible about season 2 is that at some point during the development of 2A is when Dana and the crew found out that season 3 was going to be cut really short, so they had to make changes to the overall plot and fit as much into the episodes that they had left, and yet it still turned out even better than season 1!

Craig Payne
>>101305862

No, that I wouldn't have concerns about, but Keyleth's first... attack; I can see that possibly being very unpleasant for Montana. (And later a scene after Scanlan enters through a window, although that being less graphic might not be as bad). I'd have similar concerns if they were to watch Chainsaw Man.

Dso nics

Highly recommend Rwby as well. The appearance/animation is pretty basic for the first two seasons but it only gets better as the show goes on

Jenny D

The first hidden coded word for this season’s poem is [seething]

emelsi

You're both correct, but Montana is slightly more correct

Blacklung

Gravity Falls for sure. It's shorter, and has extremely similar vibes to The Owl House, the creator of The Owl House's husband is the creator of Gravity falls, amazing plot, and honestly, the best humor I've seen in a kids' cartoon yet as well.

JHB

From Wikipedia: "The term buccaneer was taken from the Spanish bucanero and derives from the Caribbean Arawak word buccan, a wooden frame on which Tainos and Caribs slowly roasted or smoked meat, commonly manatee. From it derived the French word boucan and hence the name boucanier for French hunters who used such frames to smoke meat from feral cattle and pigs on Hispaniola. English colonists anglicised the word boucanier to buccaneer." Since the time and place the term arose was the the heyday of the actual pirates of the Caribbean, and the people who did it joined crews and did other things than smoke meat, "buccaneer" became increasingly synonymous with "pirate" (especially the Caribbean variety).

Mya

swashbuckling=pirate for sure

Jenny D
>>101327390

Dana and Alex were never married, and unless something’s changed since last year they’re broken up.

KT Bees

I'd love to see you watch any of the shows listed, but I think we all know by now I'm firmly in camp Vox Machina. I think y'all would get a kick out of it, and it's pretty short (so far).

JHB

Y'know, for a channel founded on the idea of "my home-schooled girlfriend had limited exposure to commonplace pop culture items, so let's get her reaction as she watches them", Kenny's giving Montana an awful lot of grief for not having been exposed to "swashbuckler" and "buccaneer".

Nathan Grenawalt

A swashbuckler doesn't have to be a pirate - the Three Musketeers were swashbuckling heroes. But a pirate is almost always a Swashbuckler in fiction. It's like "not all soldiers are Marines, but all Marines are soldiers."

Leighton Williams

The first thing I think of when I hear swashbuckling is definitely pirates! Second thing is the 3 Musketeers, lol!

Prince of Dorkness

I think you guys would really love Centaurworld or Dead End: Paranormal Park, highly recommend

KT Bees
>>101339776

OH OH BIG SECOND TO BOTH. These two would LOVE Centaurworld. I forgot they haven't seen it and i'm dying for more reactions to it.

SweetCandle

Oh goodie. A new episode of Winry Reacts!

SweetCandle

Be sure to watch the intros this season. Nothing as drastic as She-Ra season 5, but it changes a time or two to reflect changes.

SweetCandle

Incidentally, Salty is voiced by Steve Blum, aka, Amon (and Spike Spiegel and about a bajilion other characters).

Zay

I found it hilarious how you called the golden guard “the owl guy” and “the golden knight” through out the episode 😂

Zay

YES YOU HAVE TO WATCH GRAVITY FALLS I BEG OF YOU - tbh I found it kinda funny that you watched the owl house before gravity falls because there’s a voice actor that voice two characters in both gravity falls and the owl house that a lot of people created theories on so i just found it interesting that if you ever decide to watch gravity falls you’ll have the opposite effect

Zay

Gravity fall, amphibia and star vs the forces of evil are all a must watch

Swanzy

Sometime down the line you guy's could consider watching Your Lie In April, it's a really wholesome short slice of life anime series ❤️. Btw, winry is just so adorable! Welcome to the family little gem 🥰

Byron

I definitely vote for Gravity Falls, but also would very much advocate for doign Over the Garden Wall first!! It's super short (about 2hrs long) so you could do it in maybe 1-4 sessions.

ADHD_Selkie

Would love to see you guys react to The Legend of Vox Machina! I backed the kickstarter for it and been watching Critical Role for 7 years so I may be a bit biased lol

Mary

you should watch the dragon prince next! it’s very similar to avatar and i think you guys would love it

Nerains

gravity falls or Rwby

caristo579

The three musketeers are swashbucklers

Darby

when i think of swashbuckling i only think of pirates, but i feel like montana is technically correct?

xiolette

I think depending on how things fall that Over the Garden Wall would be really great for a fall/halloween reaction series. it's basically the length of a movie too so you can even watch it in one go if u want

Suplee215
>>101426923

You can use the tern for stuff like Robin hood and the three musketeers and even Aladdin I yhink and zorro. Certainly not pirate exclusive but the term does carry a pirate connotation.

Vex Valor

I vote the next show you watch be Kipo. The main character shares a VA with Glimmer.

Retied

I like the drangon prince a lot! And prior to the desicion for the owl house you watched the first three episodes and imho you liked it, or? And honestly, who could withstand Sokka the backbender in his next reincarnation? Don't break the cicle!

Suplee215

Sorry to random people I left a comment on. Twice I replied to a comment and my comment ended up under a unrelated post

Ferret

I would absolutely love to see you two analyzing Gravity Falls and Amphibia. They're a lot less plot driven for most of it, but very character focused in a way I think you'd both really enjoy.

Kaycee

Would love to see y’all watch Gravity Falls, I think you would really enjoy it!!

Kaycee
>>101784744

Would also love to see Steven Universe or Dead End Paranormal Park!!

Kailor Aurelius

LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA!!! You guys would absolutely love the animation and writing and design of everything. And Kenny in particular would love how uniquely creator driven that show is. From top to bottom, including the voice acting, the creators do it all.

aalliyah

I would love to see you guys watch scooby doo mystery incorporated and gravity falls they both have two seasons and the plot is incredible

Brendan Tardiff

LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA! It is a show made by voice acters who raised the money for it on Kickstarter earning a ridiculous amount of money. Their second season just finished so you would have a lot of content to watch through. P.S. If you guys enjoyed Legend of Korra its animation is done by the same animation studio. ;)

Eisteepizza

Gravity Falls would be a great series to react to

VesperQuartz15

Gravity Falls and Amphibia. They are sibling shows with The Owl House so I feel like they are a must watch. They are amazing series but Gravity Falls and The Owl House are my favorite Disney shows ever made.

Magedidelphi

LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA!!!! It is a very excellent show that was originally crowdfunded by its fans on kickstarter and its a dnd campaign brought to life by its passionate creators and storytellers!

Ashrita Chavali

Legend of Vox Machina, for sure! Love all the other options but TLoVM is a must-see and something I think you two would enjoy!

Amelia Dornan

All are great options! But I would say dragon prince since you’ve already started the beginning. Over the garden wall is super short and could be a fun mini series next autumn for spooky season!

CC

Swashbuckling is only related to pirates bc it's a pirate slang word like ahoy or avast

Nyx Netherlight

I'd love it if you checked out My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

>>109577126

I was just thinking that they should react to FIM. It still hold up and the songs are amazing!
