small side thing, between R1 (season 1) and R2 (Season 2) there was a 2 year wait period... I adore how you're both loving the show, so be glad you weren't watching while it was airing. <3

i really don't think the shower scene is fan severs. not only did it set lou up with a cover on if he was the voice but it also show how far Collen is willing to go and how little forethought she has for how smart she is being ready to kill him well naked in a school with a bunch of people in the next room

its an important plot scene, but if you think that wasn't also a bit of fan service you gotta readjust your standards a bit haha. That being said, Montana and I def see the "fan service" in this show as more well done than other fan service we have encountered thus far. Feels less unrealistic and random and more woven into the story

I would say it is fanservice but far less blatant than the average version of Fan Service which usually entails a peeping tom or just serves as fan service alone. Because yeah in this case it shows Lelouch thinks ahead and how easily Kallen is ready to resort to threats to protect her double life.

I'm pretty sure that this is mentioned later not that it's super important but I think you'd have noted it in future and ppl kinda saying future details by correcting your thoughts but also its not a massive reveal or anything. I can't remember tho so I'm not spoiling I just think later on they explicitly say she's Britannian

Well for Letts it's bad for people who've had to deal with every show having Beach Episodes just for the 'plot right writers. Great character progression on the beach smh. It's not the worst fan service. But it could have been steamed over or she could have been in a towel or etc so ya defs fan service.

I often wonder, and personally believe that Lelouch would have fought eventually. To your point he was waiting and after graduation and getting work in the military or something I think he'd have tried a long con way of getting in power to change the world. I think the Geass given to him allowed him to achieve his goals but in my view he would have eventually tried. Else he could have followed his childhood friends path but he entered a prestigious school and seems to excel, is on the council etc. I do wonder how things would have played out had he never received geass and how he'd try and "win" or maybe he'd have been satisfied making a gentle world for his sister in their own little place and left the rest of the world alone. Who knows aha

I think streaming services like Netflix and subscription channels like HBO are more likely to pick up an anime if it has an adult unrated version that contains nudity. Maybe the creators were just planning ahead for this.

More like a 1 year and 5 months period. 1st episode of season 1 came on October 5th 2006 and the 1st episode of season 2 came in April 6th 2008

Point taken, I misspoke. It IS mentioned in future episodes, but it's introduced at the beginning of this one. During his conversation with Clovis Lelouche says this: "Mother held the title of knight of honor but was a commoner by birth. No doubt the other imperial consorts held her in contempt. Even though you made it look like the work of terrorists, I'm no fool. You people killed my mother."

Ahh yeah can assume she's Britannian cause Monarchy I always got those vibes. I mean I have no gripes with mentioning it as I said it's a small detail but figured I'd speak anyway cause I didn't love when Letts knew big AOT eps were coming cause ppl kept saying wait for next one, wait till S2 etc. But it's tough to not mention stuff when you know everything honestly I had to check when you commented cause I thought oh maybe it was cut from letts but in the ep haha, I don't remember the show insanely well myself so I'm enjoying watching along!

I really love how this series, shows the juxtaposition between the comfort of Britannia and brutality of area 11 from scene to scene. Makes everything feel a bit insidious.

You guys were a little confused/sus of why Kallen was inducted into the student council the reason why that happened is because culturally in Japan students are required to join a after school club. In the series Kallen uses the excuse that she's "sickly" so to still follow the "all students must join a club" guideline the school put her on the less labor inducing club that will also still look good on her transcripts

So they never really go into it so I'll say this, LeLuch's Geass can only be used on a person once as stated what they don't tell you is Multiple commands can be issued within the same use.
