Rube Goldberg machine? A whacky chain of things, like a domino falls over, activates a moustrap, which flips something onto a balance scale, weighing ones side down and the other side goes up, which then hits something positioned just right to activate something else, and the chain goes on until it comes to a mind-bogglingly simple goal, like making toast.
