(We will probz do Gravity Falls, but for fun let’s do questions in case!)

Comments

Cody Kelleher

Who’s your favorite character and why is it Scanlan?

Ethan Honza

How do you feel about the general dynamic of the characters? They introduce you to them but also heavily root in the fact that they all know eachother. How do you like that compared to a story structure where we add party characters as we go?

FDSW TV

What are your first impressions of the voice acting? Most of these people are legendary in voice acting.

Brandon

As an introduction to the characters, i thought it did a good job of subtlety establishing character dynamics. Are there any friend combos you're enjoying?

Goliver the weird Droid

What do you think the show is trying to say, about fantasy troupes with the first scene. considering that the characters, are basically the group from lord of the rings?

Suplee215

How much do you know about Dungeon and Dragons and how it effects this?

Fukkyu Bisch

Not a question, but OMG, I really hope you guys watch Vox Machina, voice acting is legendary, it's got a rollercoaster of emotions. Moments that'll make you laugh out loud, jerk some tears, make you say 'Awww' and 'WTF' All in the same episode. I do think you guys will love it, you have a faction of fans rabid for you to watch, so you really should watch it.

Siensapsap

This show was funded by a kickstarter organised by the D&D actual play show it is based on, critical role. Initially they asked for 750.000 dollars to make one animated special, obviously they got more because they've already made 2 seasons. How much do you think they raised in the end? (Is this question mostly here because i want to see the reaction when you enevitably get curious and look it up? Yes, yes it is)

CoronerPerry

Omg I love the legend of vox machina. It just goes to show what can happen with a 100% creator owned and produced show that stays faithful to the source material. This whole show is a riot. 10 of 10 recommend.

Phoenix Mackenzie

Initial impressions of the characters, inital favourite, potentially favourite in the future?

TB

With just this basic introduction of the characters which character are you most excited to see the growth of? The history of? The powers of?

TB
>>112285609

Willing to predict right now Montana chooses Keyleth. I’m like 90% sure and the other 10% is her choosing Vex.

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112283323

I'd ask the same, except Id personally ask 'why is it Percy?' XD everyone loves an attractive nobleborn moody posh gun guy.

Edwin Andrade

Really wanna know how much does montana love keyleth

Bryan

LMAO I just seen the trailer for this show and that was the LAST thing I was expecting but the reactions would be amazing

D Gaijin

Critical role is great and so is vox machina. How many Matt Mercer cameos/VA roles did you see?

Myles Miller

The first two episodes of season 1 are meant for introduction and world building, with the story kicking off in earnest in episode 3. With this introduction, what has grabbed your attention the most? Do any characters jump out as early favorites?

MissSunFlower94

All the characters are introduced as pretty classic DnD character archetypes - do you foresee them diverging from these cliches as their story progresses and what character do you think will change the most from how we see them now?

Roy Meulblok

Are you two ready to become Critters, one of the most wholesome fanbases there is? --- This show has a whole other level of gore/nudity/swearing/violence then most other shows, what do you think was the reason for this decision? (I am one of the lucky ones that backed this show on Kickstarter, so I'm hella excited for this!)

CrimsonFang

This show was entirely funded by the community of Critical Role through Kickstart, what kind of an impact do you think that had on this show's production and do you think it allowed them to do more and create something closer to their vision without a corporation providing funding and controlling parts of what they can and cannot do.

BlueEyedRaven

OMG I can't wait to see you two react to this!

Eileen Hinman

Oh I would LOOOOOOVE to follow along a watch-through to this

Jordan Spyker

So excited for this!!! Based on your knowledge of DnD gameplay, what are your expectations, hopes, or even doubts as for how the story will translate from TTRPG narrative to animated episodes??? Very curious about your answer!!! (If my question is included, please address me as just Jordan if possible!!!)

Fukkyu Bisch

Ok, K&M, look at the amount of support this show is getting, you truly have a faction of rabid fans eager for you to watch this particular series. Don't sleep on this show! We were right about Code GEASS, and we're confident that we're right about this show too! DONT SLEEP ON THIS MASTERPIECE. ❤️

brosenthalUO

From what you've seen so far it seems each of these heroes are twists on typical fantasy tropes: The dumb barbarian, the broody thief, the hippy druid, the fem fatale, the flirty bard, the debatably holy priest, and the posh noble how so far have these characters fit those tropes or broken them and how do you predict they will?

ADHD_Selkie

Omg guys, get ready for the absolutely stellar voice cast! The Critrole crew have so much overlap with things you already know and love! Nate Stevenson creator of She-Ra and Aimee Carrero voice of Adora both having played in their livestream game. Matt Mercer (their livestream dungeon master and voice of many additional characters in the animated show) you'll probably recognise as Levi from AOT... I know it's an underdog contender but even if you don't choose the animated show as your long running series I genuinely think you guys (especially you Kenny) would get a lot of enjoyment out of it and the rest of Critical Roles content. Sincerely - an avid Critter whose been watching you guys and Critrole since the very beginning ❤️

Jaé-De Milton

I'd ask if you recognise the voice actors but someone else probably will so I will ask what we all really want to know, who are you both sipping for?

ItzYourBoi

Based on only what you’ve seen so far, what potential party dynamics do you anticipate? Shot in the dark ships?

Anonymous
>>112359751

yessss im so excited for the relationships lol. One of the best parts of the show lol

Brendan Tardiff

Legend of Vox Machina is a great example of the kind of crazy hijinx people who play D&D get into. Did watching make you any more interested in possibly playing D&D at some point in the future?

tuffcat

I love critical role and want to know if you can tell the love they whole community has put in?

PearseNation

If you were a dnd class, which would you be?

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112359751

OMG yes. The ships. Tell me you recognize the following line without saying anything else "I have a green tier whiskey, this direheart, this we simply call courage... And this is a snow mead. We're gonna start with the courage and not speak of dragons." XDA

Fukkyu Bisch

FELLOW CRITTERS! Tell me you recognize the following line without saying anything else "I have a green tier whiskey, this is direheart, this we simply call courage... And this is a snow mead. We're gonna start with the courage and not speak of dragons." XD

Intergalactic Pants

I seriously hope that you're going to react to the first couple of episodes. If you do and post those reactions on Youtube, you'll see a wave of fans eager to see you react to this series. I love it when people find this series. It's beyond amazing, and it just got even better in season 2.

Graham

For whatever reason I could never really get down with Critical Role, I’m more of a Dimension 20 and The Adventure Zone guy. And I don’t think I even made it through the musical number before I had to turn it off. It just made me cringe for some reason. But if y’all like Dungeons and Dragons and have never listened to The Adventure Zone, boy, let me tell you, it’s fuckin’ good. The McElroy Family are just hilarious people. And Dimension 20 is something special too, Matt Mercer has done numerous DM round tables with Brennen Lee Mulligan who runs most of the D20 games.

Sean Fox

Why you guys always voting for these dead ass shows and not this great one

Dissonance85
>>112329846

Seconding this question. Also, the fact that each main character is voiced by the person who created everything about them, from their backstory to their personality to their clothing. Very atypical for a voice actor to know their character better than the writers and directors.

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112467283

Same reason you do. Except for the fact that unlike some dead ass shows, our dead ass show is actually good. Maybe try watching an episode or two before you jump the hate train ❤️

Sean Fox
>>112467283

Legend of vox machina is a very good show but a show like gravity falls winning over it is a bit annoying ( I’ve watched half of season 1) and I’m finding it very boring compared to some of the other shows it beat out

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112478721

Ahh, my mistake, I thought you were shit talking Vox Machina.. my apologies. You are in the vox Machina comment thread... I got confuse. I thought you were asking us Critters why we like this show, so my apologies, again.

Sean Fox
>>112467283

No cool I probably should have clarified, I’m a bit bummed they are not watching it tbh

Fukkyu Bisch

Kenny and Montana, look at the amount of support this show is getting! There's a reason for it! Give this show a chance! Plus there's only two seasons (12 episodes each totaling 24 so far) surely you can give this show a proper chance first. How about you post the first episode reactions of both to YT like you did with Code Geass, My Hero, and the other two? Let the numbers speak for themselves. ❤️

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112479088

If we keep giving it attention there is always a possibility it might at least be an option. Keep at it and keep hearting and replying to the comments, like I am doing.

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112467283

In fact, you probably should edit your original comment and clarify that you meant gravity falls, that way people who just glance your comment won't misunderstand and think you're shit talking Vox. XD not sure if Kenny or Montana read thread comments either so you probably should clarify asap. ❤️

Robert Bonfante
>>112442680

Third it. Season 2 was bonkers, in a good way. It actually pulled me away from The Last of Us (another very good show, btw), like I was seriously invested in everything that was happening to the heroes.

Robert Bonfante

TLOVM is based off of a role-played adventure by Critical Role. So it wouldn't be a stretch to say that much of the plot development is driven by the roll of the dice. With that in mind, what are your expectations in terms of the story and how its adapted? Animated shows based off of tabletop role-playing games aren't new. Long ago (well... 90s) there was an anime called Record of Lodoss War which also was very much based on a table-top game (D&D?). It hasn't aged exceptionally well, but it had some very memorable anime characters like Deedlit, Ashram and Pirotessa, and it was a pretty well-written story.

Robert Bonfante
>>112343895

Or, in pure game terms, the tank, the healer, the damage dealer, the glass cannon, the rogue, the archer and the utility guy.

Robert Bonfante
>>112285609

I don't know. Keyleth is a solid choice (and my personal favorite) but I can see Montana completely digging Pike right out of the gates. Keyleth is a slow-burn, but Pike is awesome right from the start.

Suplee215

Just to throw this out there if you do get the urge to watch this, the "critter hug of death" is a thing. The critical role Fandom shows up hard so if you're worry about less viewers becuase your audience is asking for gravity falls there will be a influx there. Not saying this to try to guide the decision so much as if you do get the urge to assure. This Fandom crashes websites that critical role plugs and their kickstarter for this show is so scary Amazon prime picked itnup

dannydarko27

No question just big critter hugs. The Vox Machina universe aka the world of Exandria is going to expand dramatically. Critical Role recently signed a deal to animate their second campaign which takes place ten years after the first one... which would probably be after season 4 maybe 5 of TLOVM. There are also possibilities of them making films on either their one shot stories with the characters from the campaigns.

dannydarko27
>>112518330

Currently Critical Role is on their 3rd campaign which i think takes place 20 years after the events of TLOVM

Nick41537

My question is when are you doing this cause it’s a great series

Suplee215
>>112518347

Campaign 1 takes place in 810-812, c2 is 835-36 and c3 is 843. So 23 years between vox machina and m9 and 33 years between vm and bh.

Fukkyu Bisch

Oh, I do have a question actually. Are you guys convinced to do this series instead yet? XD

Zain Cassis

You guys are in for a treat with this show. It may not seem like much at face value, but holy cats, it's quite the standout. This show broke crowdfunding records when it was first announced, originally planned to be far less, the initial goal was something like 750k. That was surpassed in the first hours of the Kickstarter. There are loads of brilliant voice-actors like Travis Willingham(Mustang from FMAB), Grey Griffin(Azula), Matt Mercer(Levi), and many many more. You'll definitely get the hook with episode 2, and I can't wait to see more Vox Machina on this channel. <3 <3

Zaza

I want to watch you guys react to demon slayer but I can’t seem to find any episodes on here. It’s just questions, help me pls

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112647960

Try watching other shows in the meantime, Like Code Geass, while you wait on an answer.

Maubeerbluffin

ah, i would love to watch you guys react to this show. i'm a huge fan of it and your reactions. My question would be: What expectations did you have for the show before watching the first episode, and what expectations do you have now?

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112343895

ok, I can figure some of those archetypes out.... but who are you putting which archetype on? I'm curious, I'm sorry. XD

jennifer jimenez

Since y’all are already getting the critter love here’s one for you : knowing what you know about the fantasy genre did episode surprise you on the choices it makes on the story and characters that you didn’t expect ?

Sceada

Do you guys have any experience with Pen and Paper? and even with low/no experience, what do you expect of a story thats basically written on the go by a group of players? and you REALLY should watch Vox Machina completly.

Fukkyu Bisch

ok critter gang, even if just replying and conversing in a couple of threads we gotta keep the engagement higher than the... other show, c'mon, give the critter crew some love. <3

KT Bees

Would still love to see LOVM after gravity falls! What do you think of the show's origins (that it was funded by a kickstarter raising over $11 mil, starting as hopes for an animated special and now with a third season in progress and hosted on Amazon)? Have either of you ever played or experienced Dungeons and Dragons? What are your thoughts on characters (personalities, abilities, designs) so far? Holy familiar voices, Batman! How many were you able to recognize? Did any surprise you? Keep in mind, all the voices of the main cast are the people who played these characters in the D&D game!

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112941437

I kinda hope and wish they'd do TLOVM first or instead. It's so much better imho.

Eric Chandler

You guys should watch vox. It's shorter, each season is only 12 episodes

Fukkyu Bisch
>>112990585

YES. it's much shorter. and the longer they wait the more there'll be to watch later, best watch it now while there's only two season with 12 episodes a piece. Ya know?

Fukkyu Bisch

Ok, Kenny and Montana, you guys DO see the amount of people asking for vox machina right? Plus, it's on the shorter side. You can always watch Gravity falls after you watch and finish the good shows. ❤️

Cameron Dougherty

Vox is so good! I requested it way back in season one and know you guys would love it! <3

jamurano
>>113199482

Gravity Falls is a good show. I do like Vox Machina too, but Kenny and Montana are allowed to pick what they want. Gravity Falls is also short, only two seasons, so no big deal. :)

Bradley Hall

Ngl just resubbed (personal issues) and I'd love to see Vox Machina.

Robert Bonfante
>>112343895

Sorry for the late reply -- I don't seem to get notifications about anything on Patreon -- but here goes. The tank and healer are obvious. The damage dealer is Percy, the glass cannon is Keyleth and bards are the quintessential utility guys so that one is Scanlan.

Robert Bonfante
>>113199482

I would love to see Vox Machina, but props to Gravity Falls if it wins it (and since they have already put five episodes of questions up, my guess is their minds are already decided). Gravity Falls is a big influence to a number of shows that have won the polls here, so I can't get upset about that. But they are missing out if they don't get to eventually watch Vox Machina (or the Dragon Prince for that matter). Even if they just watch it on their own time, I hope they eventually see what we are excited about.

Robert Bonfante

Not a question, but if you decide to watch this now or after Gravity Falls, it can be useful to know the character classes of each character. None of this is spoiler since Scanlan basically introduces everybody with his song. I will list the name, class and subclass (in order of Scanlan's song): Grog -- Barbarian/Path of the Berserker Percy -- Fighter/Gunslinger Keyleth -- Druid/Circle of the Moon Vex -- Ranger/Beastmaster Vax -- Rogue/Assassin Pike -- Cleric of the Everlight/War Domain Cleric Scanlan -- Bard/College of Lore

Aleph Sharp

Important to know: each episode of vox is almost exponentially better than the last. The 1st episode is the worst episode of the show, which doesnt make it Bad, its just, not even close to how good it gets even only a few episodes later. Episode 3 is Really where it starts to take off Also: please give vox another chance to be voted for after gravity falls

Robert Bonfante
>>114299720

Agreed! The first two episodes are very introductory, both in how the thematic material is handled, and who the main characters are. Episode 3 is when this show hits its stride and never looks back.
