Hey everyone!

Welcome to another development blog. We are wrapping up our work on Vanilla Temperature Expanded, finally, which means it will be releasing within a few days. We really want to release it as soon as possible, so that we can all fully focus on updating VE mods to 1.5.

I will only mention briefly that updating is going very smoothly. A very large number of mods is already internally ready for 1.5, which means that the moment the framework is updated, you will see a lot of VE mods become available for your 1.5 playthrough!

Before 1.5 launches, we have two more mod releases planned. Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Sophian Style and Vanilla Temperature Expanded. That's the mod I'd like to showcase to you know.

It has some very exciting temperature solutions in it. Primarily, what I think you'll love, is the wall mounted variants of a heater, a cooler and a vent. No longer you will have to replace the entire wall segment with a cooler. However, such option is still there, if you prefer it.

We are talking internally about making the AC part of the mod require an additional research project, so that you can naturally upgrade over time from standard heaters/coolers to AC system.

Lets take a look at all the infographics now!

As you can see, it's quite a simple mod, but with some much needed QoL features. The ceiling fans are by far my favourite appliance. They don't cost any components - only steel - and can really help greatly during a heatwave.

We're just running some final tests and applying some final tweaks, and the mod should be with you shortly.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them in the comments under this post!

Can you add Fahrenheit to the infographics?

This definitely needs to be tested to see how heat proximity reacts to things that can explode. I used to get some interesting reactions when using a helixian gas filled room and turning up the heat to insane levels to set off a chain reaction of explosions.

Proximity heat will also make Tribal starts way more forgiving and give you reasons to add so many fires! Looking forward to it!

Does heat proximity apply to regular fires? If so, firefighting is gonna get much harder

LoggerC4

Still happy to see ol’ Proxyheat grow up into VE, especially with the automatic mod support system! One small suggestion though, a flickable buffer for air duct vents, akin to the power switch for cables. Gives some more control over managing if a group of rooms need that air or not, rather than closing all the vents in each

Limfjorden

Are ceiling fans stuffable? There should at least be a wooden version for that old west feel!

Inglix

I don't suppose there's any plans for wall mounted versions of the industrial cooler/heater?

Bluejay

Will there be a roofed version of a compressor for underground bases?

2026-09-10 22:00 Wait, I thought they already were over wall coolers and vents? Or is that just one of the ones I have installed they have forgotten about

Shoot, seeing this might have me just revert back to 1.4 because this sounds really neat and while I'm sure that it's going to probably also be 1.5 ready, I still want to mess with that ahead of Anomaly's launch next month.

This looks absolutely amazing Oskar. Everything you could possibly want for modern temperature control mods all in one tidy neat and beautifully textured package. This will quickly become a new staple mod for Rimworlders!

The only thing possibly missing from this package is perhaps something like a wood fed fireplace with chimney or wooden heater for that the deluxe cozy winter experience.

Looks really exciting, love the idea of air ducts. Two comments: first, I don’t believe that the large heater should be power inefficient. The nature of electric heaters is that they are always maximally efficient, as any lost energy is converted to heat anyways. Second, for the large compressor, it looks to take up a 2x2 grid, but only provides 6 units. 4 individual compressors will take up that same amount of space, but will provide 8 units. Is this intended?

Souless_Arwain

So you just dropped a mod that causes the pig people to produce hu-pork and now we have the option to make giant oven rooms

Proxyheat <3 I hoped long for a feature like this. :)
